I'll try to reply from my limited experience in chestrunning...

-Celestial items: Vermin chests in Xanquang Skyway

-Plagueborn: everywhere they spawns, included missions. Best spots should be Bukdek Byway, right outside Unwaking waters (Kurz) in morostav etc. Remember that you may not have spawns of afflicted (and plag chest i fear) if completed WOC pt. 1 in HM.

-Kurz items: anywhere in echo forest(Morostav trail/ferndale/melandru's hope - just naming some), plus the west part of Pongmei.

P.S:all those info are somewhere in this thread, just matter of digging through 45 pages

I'm still getting pretty mixed messages on the r8 factor.

It seems nobody has any proof of one dropping in HM, but do they even drop max in NM?

Afaik, Q8 max golds can only drop in NM. From canthan chests only I think.

Someone should really test this. Does that apply to the q8 shields,focus,and sword or all q8s? What is the best play to chest run canthan chests?

Req 8 shields only drop from level <23 foes and chests I believe. That means the chest should be surrounded by level <23 mobs. Any higher levels and only q9s drop.

i opened ~2000 canthan chests in pongmei valley NM + xaquang skayway NM so far to get luck title maxed...
had many many req8 stuff but all at least 1off max so far.
will post if i get any req8 max item from any chest.

I've gotten some purple max r8 offhands from chests in the KC metropolitan area.

The one r8 gold shield I got from a chest was actually in Elona, the Kourna region.

Best way to get a q8 is plain farming on proper mobs probably.

I ran ~4000 NM chests in Pongmei Valley to max my Lucky title. Out of those chests, I got a handful of max req 8s.

Most were purple offhands I just merched as they were absolute garbage stats-wise.

One was a gold Brute Sword. I searched through my screenshot folder and found a screen of the Brute Sword I just picked up, in inventory, unidentified. This one was dated Sept. 14, 2011.

Another notable one was a purple Echovald Shield. I can't find a screenshot of the Echo assigned to me (I usually pick up the drops too quickly without looking at the stats though), but I have one of the IDed stats. The shield was trash, but I just couldn't bring myself to merch it, being a req 8 Echovald, after all.

(The shield dropped in late Oct. this year, and was sold early Nov. to a collector of ... oddities.

A gold one would probably drop from a lower level mob. That means NM. I've never ever seen a Q8 gold drop in HM.

and that also means that there could still be the chance to get req8+5 fellblade... since fellblades drop from chests near am fah aswell =)
time to do some more runs in pongmei nm

Question as wiki isn't specific on drops... going from the most interested in to the least, can I get some extra info on which mobs (or which mob's chests) drop these shields?

I'd like to find a new route to chestrun at (kurzick one), so any help with that can be considered very good info too (take into account which drops I'm looking for ^^)!

Which builds are you guys using for chestrunning in the factions campaign? I'm running a monk as my primary, but have a ranger and a sin at my disposal as well. Sin hasn't been in EotN yet, so he has no ranks in the PvE titles.

So I'm getting ready to start chest running, since I'm running out of things to do in GW... I've been reading through posts but i'm really not sure which ones still work and which ones are worth farming. I've noticed a good amount of people talking about Pongmei Valley, but I'm wondering what other runs are still worth doing.

I think it would be great to chest run in areas with a chance of q8 max drops. Thanks everyone!

Good news everyone!

I know we've been debating about whether or not max Q8's drop in HM, and it seemed that everyone agreed on no.

However, I just got this while doing MQSC. Mount Qinkai, in Factions.

It wasn't from a chest. A monster dropped it. I think it may have been a wallow, I forget.

So that proves they can drop in HM from monsters, but still no word on chests. It would make sense that they would drop though, no?

I recently had a r8 16 AL shield drop in a canthan vanquish also, it was purple with awful mods. Yet to see one drop from a chest though.

Yea, I get quite a lot of q8 blues and sometimes purples when I farm dragon mosses in HM. Never seen gold. From what I remember/understand (which isn't much compared to others

), q8 golds can drop from foes which are lvl 22 and under but best from ~lvl 18. Correct me if I'm wrong!

Which is why I'm so confused when people say gold q8 max sunqua can still drop. The levels don't match up

the highest i think droppable req8 golds can come from mobs as high as 24, for chest aswell(yet to be proven though).

Been running Ring of Fire for luls lately. Did a bunch of runs in NM and the drops are absolutely shit. Incredibly rare to even see a gold, let alone a half decent one.

Switched over to HM, funner that way, better drops too. Most of the mods on weps are perfect.

Got a Q9 15^50 Longsword too.

Hoping for a Magmas. Anyone know if Magmas drop rate is better in Hells rather than Ring of Fire? I'd guess they're the same, but I haven't seen one in Ring of Fire yet.

haha, I was wondering why I saw you in Ring of Fire so much on FL...

I don't think there's a difference in the drop rates. You could also try FoW (if I remember, Magmas drop from those Chests)

I will help you out magma shields DO NOT drop in ring of fire.

The only places in tyria to get them are hell's precipice and during the titan quests through out ascalon and kryta.

Try farming level 22 mantids in sunqua vale. Based on theory max q8 sunqua blades should drop. Especially from chests surrounded by them.

To further spun ducky's comments, hells is the spot and particularly those chests in the lava (although I've gotten a magmas near the imp group on the hill past the seer) but otherwise 99% of the magmas I've gotten (at least 10 out of probably 250 chests) have been from lava chests. Oh and btw not a single one of those magmas have been dual mod!!!! So many heartbreakers -2/ench. +29. +10/pierce, etc.

. The bubble chests where the portal wraiths are at the end of the run will always drop core skins (and tomes). A run shouldnt take longer than 3 min with 1-3 chests. The hardest part of the run imo is that Titan bridge past the first group of imps. I bring a cover stance cuz they will always remove at least one :/. If you are gonna die in this run 100 bucks says it will be there

Always run as a sin, haven't had any problems with deaths yet.

So if the chest is in lava, anywhere, usually better chance at magmas?

I've only seen 1 chest in lava so far, closer to where the first boss shares spawns.

I run HM on my ranger cuz I cba to get my sin that far :/. So yeah all my magmas except one have been from within the lava. I suppose however that any chest in hells so long as it's near a Titan could drop a magmas... There is almost always a chest in the lava area where the fists spawn near the end of the run. IAU helps get you in and out if the lava quickly. I don't die very often but because sf timing is so tight that the possibility remains that a Titan removes Deadly paradox in the midst if a sf chain then it runs out too fast. Usually happens when multiple titans are on me which ruins even my cover stance...Sometimes I can recover with waiting it out if I'm able to be untie clear by then or if shadow Sanctuary, feigned neutrality or deaths charge can save me in time lol.

If they drop magmas then a chest near them will also drop them. Same for the Titan quests. Chests are influenced by the mobs surrounding them. This is true for skins and req.
