Logged back in and got the message "You have died 1 time." 16 hours of grind down the tubes. Makes me want to quit MMOs like this altogether when stuff like that happens.
Ah well. Such is life. Lag's the killer so keep an eye on the Network Updates and/or forum reports. Also might want to check your ping and/or avoid going for the title during events. Two interrupts + lag can be a nasty predicament.
To overcome interrupts, take a Mo/Me or Me/Mo on the longer runs. I finally dragged my Mesmer kicking and screaming from Indomitable to Legendary yesterday. Nearly got killed due to a dud spawn at 1.2 million myself - i set Symbiosis a bit further away than normal then ran to my usual spot only to be spiked to 100HP outside Symbiosis. Luckily I instinctively logged out, normally i'm a bit slow to register

Thanks for the replies You do not need to be level 20, but it helps. You need to be at least level 5 so you have enough skill points for the skills.
The way to use the skills (Dual Bonders, what I prefer):
1. Setup period (you)...before combat: Cast the following on yourself: Essence Bond, Life Attunement, Vital Blessing.
2. Setup period (your heroes)...before combat: Have your heroes cast the following on you in this order (can be changed but this is what works for me), disable the skills first though so they do not cancel them after they cast them: Succor, Life Barrier, Mending, Holy Wrath, Watchful Spirit, Retribution, Balthazar's Spirit
3. Ensure Symbiosis is up...when you enter the explorable area your hero will start casting it so I usually let him finish before I start having him cast all the enchantments.
4. Check your health level...it should be 1200+. If you don't have 1200+ health...something is wrong...check your enchantments. You should have a total of 10 enchantments on you plus Symbiosis.
5. Flag the heroes behind you so they will stay out of your agro circle while you are in combat. Do not send them off the radar as the bonds will break.
6. Run towards the jade knights (Make sure you always stay within range of symbiosis)...when you have agroed them cast the following on yourself asap: Protective Spirit, Spirit Bond.
7. Keep those two skills active until the knights are dead.
That's the basics on how to take on 3 jade knights. Set it up in a similar fashion for the second set of 3 jade knights...paying attention to the positioning of your heroes and where they cast symbiosis.
Below level 20 leveling slows down as you get closer to 20. After you get to 20 your rate of xp gain increases significantly...as long as you use hard mode (you have to have beat factions at least once with one of the characters on your account to access hard mode)

Oh ok so in the begining cast all your enchantements, and then, cast spriti bond and protective spirit ? But the heroes are just here for the enchantements ? they don't cast anything ?

yeah they are there just to provide the enchantments...they stay out of battle otherwise they would die easily. If the knights go after your heroes it's time to end the run...because you will die if they kill your heroes. The heroes should be positioned so they are comfortably outside of your agro bubble...that way there's no chance the knights will go after them instead of you.

Quick question:
Anyone know if once you've acheived Legendary Survivor on one character on your account, does that unlock that "special" in the Hall of Monuments for your account, or just one character?
I guess I'm just curious as to whether you need to acheive LS more than once on an account.

I'd try this myself, but the only campaign i don't have HM in right now is Nightfall.
Right outside Sunspear Great Hall, there is a mob of 6-10 Stalking Nephilas. In HM, they are level 22. According to Wiki, the only skill they use that would make a difference to 55ing them or using this build is Apply Poison, which can easily be countered with mending. Also, you can get the Insect Hunt bonus from the Sunspear Scout right by the portal, so you get double xp from all the Nephilas. On top of regular scrolls, you could get a ton of xp per kill, because you get +50% from HM, +100% from the scout, and say +100% from a scroll. That comes out to getting 476 xp per Nephila.
Since this mob is more than 3 people, you will need to avoid AoE scatter. I'd say rely on Retribution and Holy Wrath for your damage.
Hahaha, as im calculating the time this would take at 2 minute a run and an average of 8 Nephilas spawning per run, this would take around the same time. 10-11 hours with scrolls. BUT it would only take about 16 hours without scrolls. So, if your looking to do this for free, my method would work faster in theory. if somebody with NF HM unlocked could test this for me, that would be great.

for a skillbar is was thinking that you could solo them with prot spirit, shield of absoption, shielding hands, mending, watchful spirit, and balthazars spirit. as a preference i like using essence bond too, but some people are uncomfortable with 0 energy regen. but that should do it, as you constantly take 0's and have 5 maintained arrows regen to counter poison. should be a breeze.

hey what about a somewhat different setup:
Warrior style.
ive been thinking of maybe somewhat of a build like this:
glads defense (50% faster attack on HM should make em drop fast)
renewing smash (infinite glads)
crude swing/whirlwind attack (adrenaline/energy regain)
then some other skills to help u stay alive maybe dolyak and healing sig, the works
this build would require a zealous hammer for sure with 6 knights around u and the 6 adrenaline cost of whirlwind attack u can just spam it to keep ur energy up after using glads and renewing.
i think this would work better than the W/E glads-ww-on ur knees build cuz u dont have to mess around with all the knockdown crap u jsut renew smash and glads again
feedback would be great im not necessarily goin for survivor but i wanna farm platinum blades (awesome)

I guess I'm just curious as to whether you need to acheive LS more than once on an account. My bet's on account. You can't possibly achieve all titles on the same character eg Legendary Defender of Ascalon and Legendary Survivor are contra-indicated.

Technically, you can get Legendary Survivor and LDoA, but you'd need a really really REALLY good friend to help you out, or a LOT of gold you could spend on hiring somebody to help you. You can party with somebody who death-levels the Charr for you, have them map out, leaving you to kill the Charr and get full xp. Of course, this would be super slow because you could only level a certain number of Charr at a time, otherwise you would die trying to take them down. But it's doable.
More on topic though, I have no doubt that the Hall of Monuments will be tied to an account, not a single character. That would just be plain mean to only count 1 char's achievments.

Problem is a lack of a hard res, and there only being 4 (Or is it 5) bosses spawning. his would mean your friend can only give them EXP a set number of times, meaning they wont level high enough.

Not possible. Both party members need to die before you resurrect at the Shrine. Your friend will die once, you get one chance to use Rez Sig and your run is over on his next death. You can speed up death levelling with two party members, but both need to die.

Incredibly boring and repetitive (just like the short run), you need to make it past the Vizunah Square cut-scene and not die on the way to Lutgardis. That's tougher to do than the 70,000XP runs i did here to get my title.

Got Indomitable Survivor Using the Guide (short run)...
Capped 72 skills...All in Istan, Kourna (except for Crossroads mission, Nundu bay mission, and Rilhon Refuge Mission bosses), Crystal Desert, and a few in the southern shiverpeaks...
...and here's the result:
Thank you very much for the guide.

So, if your looking to do this for free, my method would work faster in theory. if somebody with NF HM unlocked could test this for me, that would be great. I acutally just tried this on my non-survivor 55 monk.....using only shield of absorbtion and mystic healing, plus some enchants, and the monk bonder listed under one bonder(minus life barrier) I was able to kill all of them while staying above 1k health. I got 204xp per kill, without a scroll. So you figure, a 3x scroll would give 600xp per kill, at 2 minutes per run. Thats 144xp per run, thats a mere 9 and a half hours(to give a little bit of "bad run" time) to get max survivor from lvl 1(but you cant do this run below lvl 20. From level 20, doing this run could technically give you max survivor in as little as 8.3 hours. Granted, thats paying for the price of 3x scrolls, but if you want survivor as fast as possible, this method looks pretty good as all you do is spam SoA and mystic regen, and you kill the mob in less than 40 seconds.
Also, for some reason, holy wrath and retribution are triggered BEFORE shield of absoption, which means they take the full 99% damage they normally deal, right back at them, while, after a few hits, you take 0 damage with max regen. Another note....this was done with max armor and I my HP was literally maxed at 1,400 the whole time(dipping down to 1,200 in the short downtime of SoA).
Just tried removing my chestpiece since I did it with max armor before, the lowest my health got was around 800, and I killed them within 3 casts of SoA, so about 25-30 seconds to kill them. This method is a lot more risky, but its also much faster, taking about a minute and a half to 2 minutes, depending on how good you are at it. With a 3x scroll and a minute and a half runs, you can get 240,000xp per run, taking a mere 5 hours to reach the max level of survivor. Of course, this doesnt include taking time to buy scrolls, sell anything you get, etc, but its the fastest method I know of.
EDIT: Forgot to mention, with the testing I did, I wasnt poisoned once, it seems they might have apply poison, but dont use it.

Same spot, same builds. Can easily be done as a lvl 5. Just dump all points into Prot.

It doesn't really matter which primary you choose as the Smite bonds do the lion's share of the damage, just take Monk as the secondary.
The fastest and easiest way is to go with either a Mo/Me or Me/Mo and extend the run to farm all 95-100 Jade Brotherhood once you've graduated to the medium and hard runs. You can do it in 18-20 mins for 70,000XP per run with 2 or 3 Slayer's Insight scrolls.
Tyrian characters are the quickest - get a run from Ascalon to Lion's Arch and board a ship to Kamadan to pick up the lvl 15 heroes, then to Kaineng to head to The Marketplace. You'll be ready in about 2 hours to start the run. Factions characters take about 4 hours to get to the same point, Nightfall about 10 hours if you complete all the Istan quests and level your heroes up to lvl 15.

cool thanks. im makinga tyrian ellimentalist called legendary survival; if your on you can gimme a hand. going to make a detour first and pick up a tapestry thread.
EDIT: made him, got shred, got to LA, Kamedam, got heros, gone to kaineng then market place. Got some runse and put it on basic armor from ascalon...
Before i can do the farming i need to buy a few monk skills on my monk so the heros can use them. I need a run to beetltun from la so i can buy a monk skill for the build; and i need 2 elly skills which i cant get any tomes for.

Thanks for the guide!
I've gotten two chars to Survivor (1) in no time on my first two tries, but then got a bit greedy/slash careless and died (Headbutt! Ouch! I guess that was ANet's way of saying: "Don't cap Headbutt on a Monk").
Both characters were Monks, and started in Nightfall. I started the runs with my second one at level 8, with a level 8 Dunkoro as the main Bonder, and a level 8 Koss providing Succor and Mending. I got to 20 with no problems.
This time 'round, I'm gonna take it easy, which is really the key; you just need to be patient.
Thanks a lot!

This build is pretty good...
but where do I put Dunkoro and Tahlkora? I want all the XP for myself, I can't move them completely out of my sight that they can't cast the spells, but if I don't then they get the XP. =|
EDIT: Wait, never mind. They cast it on you before the battle. But isn't it if they're not off your radar, they get the XP as well? ._.

Also, as long as they're not within your circle, they won't get the experience. However, they do need to be on your radar to maintain the bonds

Ranger would be the suckiest primary to attempt this run. You won't be dead before you pull off a second barrage but there's a good chance they will be.
Spirit Bond will keep you alive, the smite bonds will drop the Jades...all you really need to do is keep Spirit Bond renewed. Neither Barrage nor SoJ are required, if i was to pick one i'd go SoJ to help you get used to the timing of SB. For a bit more fun i'd go Barrage, Dual Shot, Triple Shot but they're not going to make that much of a difference.

Hey, I just got my Paragon, to rank 1.
Then, I started HM farming.
The first farms went well.
I did the Hard farm a few times.
Then, at the first 3 Knights, Dunkoro's health dropped to half, and it didnt regenerate back. I lost ALL my bonds, wich is strange, because I also bond myself, and Melonni bonds me too.
ALL BONDS were lost.
Not because I walked out of bonding range. I still had them in my Radar.
I died, at 8 hours work on 200k xp.
What happened?!?

Then, at the first 3 Knights, Dunkoro's health dropped to half, and it didnt regenerate back. I lost ALL my bonds, wich is strange, because I also bond myself, and Melonni bonds me too.
ALL BONDS were lost.
Not because I walked out of bonding range. I still had them in my Radar.
I died, at 8 hours work on 200k xp.
What happened?!?

One of two things spring to mind (because i've done both) -
1. You let the Jades slip past and attack your bonders. As soon as that happens log out, the loss of the title isn't worth the 300g cost of a scroll.
2. Wrong bonders - if you're a P/Mo take the Smite and Heal bonders, not the Life and Heal bonders from the Other Classes section.
It took me a little while to find a P/Mo build i was happy with, but once i got it going i found it really enjoyable. But if your purpose is solely to farm the title, go with a Me/Mo or Mo/Me...the full 95 Jade run is a breeze.

Prof Of Black
I want my Para have the title :P
But it wasnt #1, because when I got rezzed, Dunks still had half of his hp left!
#2, Never had problems with the bonders soo
What could that be, when we got rezzed, Dunks had still only 130/260HP left..
