Is this new? I going to DoA from kaineng, and i passed kamadan. I needed a +30 for spear for a while, so i figured id go like BUYING +30hp for spear in every city i would pass. So i was in kamadan, and i entered it a few times and boom, i disconnected.
Turns out ive been tempbanned for excessive messaging, and i may rejoin game after 72 hours. O_O? I mean, cmon, people are spamming like there is no tomorrow and i pass kamadan, drop a few lines and get myself tempbanned. I didnt even know you can be banned for that....well its a good thing you can but for a few lines.....O_O

Any screen shot to back this up? Spamming WTB/WTS on any chats shouldn't get you banned, otherwise LA, Kamadan & Keinerg would be a ghost town. Is there anything else you're not telling us?

There was a thread over at gwonline (closed now) with two people who this happened to. Both were selling, and received a temp ban.
Sounds like Anet changed something in the coding somewhere.
Do you ever get the impression that Anet doesn't think some things through very well? "We're going to nerf drops to promote player-to-player selling/buying; without giving you a decent in-game method of doing such. Oh, and we'll ban you if you try too hard."

If you don't use the trade channel and the PARTY SEARCH BUTTON that HAS A SPECIFIC SECTION FOR TRADE and is AS CLOSE TO A "TRADE SYSTEM" AS WE WILL EVER GET (because Anet will never, ever, ever create an auction system, quit deluding yourselves), then I have absolutely zero sympathy for you.
I leave all-chat turned off because you absolutely cannot use it for its original purposes (discussion with non-guildie/alliance/team members for non-trade reasons) because of the trade spam. You're supposed to be able to avoid trade talk by turning off the trade channel, or go listen to it if you WTB/WTS something.

Well i used all chat. I was just skipping tru towns hoping for somebody to PM me. I contacted customer support, but no answers yet. Personally i think its pathetic to ban people for THREE days because of this. I mean, if you change the code, please drop a warning before you wtfban people.

the OP never stated what channel he used. If he was spamming multiple times before the text fade-out in local chat, then I think a tempban is appropriate.
Just a way to keep the trade spam in the trade channel. If Anet has begun to do this, it's a good thing.

Although it's easy to see why you did it (because "everyone else was"), it's also easy to see why there was a repercussion for your actions. This is why I've commented many times on various threads suggesting "how to make a quick buck" that posting in the ALL channel, even in Lions Arch Dist 1, is NOT a good idea.

although i feel for you especially since it is hit or miss...on who gets banned. I think there should be an aggressive ban on people advertiseing items for sale in the normal chat channels. Good Job Anet and keep up the pressure..but maybe like a nochannel for 2 hours .....banning from game for 72hours is a bit extreme considering that there isn't a vialbe trade option for anyone to use...and the Party Search feature wasn't originally deisgned for trading if you remember it was put in as an after thought because some people were using it.

When you sent it to chat did you do it once per time, or are you one of those people who thinks sending a message means send it 5 times in a row each time? If the latter I can understand a ban, that's really just screws up the whole thing and makes everyone have to spam more.

Were you spamming in All chat? Just asking, as if you weren't it would seem quite unreasonable. There was another thread just a little while ago about the same thing happening to someone, in Kamadan. Probably some game moderator is hanging out there...

I have used the party trade on multiple occasions to both buy and sell. It's much more useful than spamming the trade channel. If I have things to sell, I'll pop a short description and price in there, and sure enough, somebody will add to my party and buy it. Buying works the same way.

I combat spamming in the All channel is by turning the channel off when I am looking to buy/sell something and using Trade only. This way I dont support All channel trade use and though I might miss the occasional sale, I'd rather do that than support that behavior.
Anyway, sorry you got banned though, but there is no point in writing Anet about. That wont get appealed. Chill out for a bit and you'll be back playing before you know it.

That's all I'm able to fit in the trade window. I'm not able to include the Req, Price, Stats, or Color. That's not enough to catch people's attention.
On Topic: Banning someone for any amount of time is too much. I think not being able to use trade or general chat for at most an hour would be pretty suitable penalty.
They said that they won't implement a better trade system, so that's out of the question. Maybe they could at least change the color to something more pleasing. The faded red color is ugly on the eyes.

But hey I guess ANet needs to look out for all the 12 year olds who are "looking for a GF" and want to "cyber for 1k per minute", wouldn't want to interupt their all chat would we.

Finally starting to do something about people attempting to bypass their coding (type "WTS" instead of breaking it up or saying "Selling" and it automatically puts it in the Trade channel...think Anet's trying to tell you guys something?), good job.
