Bonus Mission Pack Availability

Hello,

We've received some questions about the availability of the Guild Wars: Eye of the North Bonus Mission Pack. While we know that the Guild Wars Official (in-game) Store and the PlayNC system are connected, in fact this promotion is only available via purchases made in the in-game store. Her eis some important information for you:
  • If you are interested in participating in the Guild Wars: Eye of the North Bonus Mission Pack promotion, you should acquire at least $29 in purchases in the Guild Wars Official Store (in-game store) through October 31st.
  • Access to the Bonus Mission will automatically be granted to your account when the missions become available in November.
  • Purchases in the in-game store can be made at different times. As long as you spend $29 or more between July 5 and October 31, 2007, you will qualify for the bonus.
  • You will be able to acquire the full access key set for the GW:EN Prerelease Bonus Pack and/or GW:EN itself through the in-game store.
  • The purchase price of the GW:EN Prerelease Bonus Pack will be applied to the cost of GW:EN itself through the in-game store.
  • We are currently investigating additional methods of payment for the in-game store.
Please let me know if you have other questions and we will post answers as they become available.

Thank you for the clarification on being able to spread the 29$ amount over multiple purchases.

I'd like to use my debet card (bank account) as payment method though, as I don't have a creditcard and do not want to use paypal or other online brokers.

Either that or being able to buy cards in the real shops that I can redeem in the online store, so I can pay with my debet card in the shop.

I wrote to our billing team and they tell me that prepaid credit cards are accepted in the system. There was some confusion earlier, but they do say that such cards--as well as things such as the Visa Gift Card--would be accepted.

Err, how do you mean, prepaid credit cards?

I was thinking of something like the "X-day prepaid gamecard" which games with monthly fees usually sell in the netherlands because dutch people do not have creditcards very often, but then specifically for guild wars.

Like these things...

Also, generally debit cards can be treated as credit cards by stores who cannot use the debit feature. It will not be instantly billed to your account, as with debit, but will treat it as credit and deduct it automatically from your account. I have made online purchases with my Check card at the GW store that have worked, so you may not need the prepaid credit card. I'm not certain, but I think you will be ok just inputting your debit as though it were a credit.

You will be able to acquire the full access key set for the GW:EN Prerelease Bonus Pack and/or GW:EN itself through the in-game store.

Is this a package deal? Get GW:EN and the pre-release pack for one price, two keys? (And by default the bonus missions...)

When will the keys be available for purchase?

Going to try that now, I still need that bonus weapon pack and I really want to buy it if only it lets me pay with my bank card...

No package deals, they are separate purchases. But purchase price of the GW:EN Prerelease Bonus Pack will be applied to your purchase of the full version of GW:EN.

I will check on availability dates for the keys.

Thank you Gaile. That begs one final question from me... does the purchase of the pre-order come off of the purchase price of GW:EN, or is it an additional charge.

I'm just asking for clarities sake.

This should be stickied, as I suspect there will be lots of questions about the Bonus Pack and purchasing GWEN online...

so just to stand clear. Buying the gw:en prerelease bonus pack on july 20th (that's the date right?) and gw:en itself whenever is available -both from the online store-, i would be granted for free the access to the bonus mission pack in november upon release?
oh and buying the gw:en prerelease bonus pack i'm allowed to play the sneak peak weekend 26-28 august?

sounds easy

Since you only need to spend $29 to get access to the Bonus Mission Pack; yes. Just buying GW:EN itself ($39.99) will easily get you above the minimum amount.

Gaile: I noticed you called it the Guild Wars: Eye of the North Bonus Mission Pack. Just to clarify, do you need to own Eye of the North to access the Bonus Missions, or will it be available to anyone who owns a Chapter of Guild Wars (and spent at least $29 at the Guild Wars Online Store)?

Are you researching this for the GWEN release or just in general? When can we expect an answer on this?

The reason I'm asking this is because I've seen this mentioned before (I was searching for paypal options in December 2006), but I'd like to know before I buy GWEN or it's pre-purchase package in a store.

I managed to borrow a credit card off a family member and got three new character slots on my account, however when i tried to do the same for my wife's account it refused to allow it, stating that the use was fraudulent,

any clue as to why this is and how long it will be active for?

Gaile, I have a question...

If profit is the issue, as in they want more money by going directly, why not just alternatively release a Guild Wars Eye of the North Deluxe Addition for $50 (as opposed to the $40 it would normally cost) which includes a key to access the bonus missions? This would probably help make up for the "middle man" cost, and as players can get the expansion free from the GW store with purchase, plenty would do so. All 3 parties, the people who want to use the store, the people who want to go to a store, and Anet are happy. Of course, it is probably a little late to start something like that, but just an idea.

I've purchased 3 characters slots this way. So I'm sure you can use debit cards. Unless something has changed recently.

Gaile,
Are there any plans of making additional products available in the online store between now and October 31st?

I ask this because, currently, many of us who are extremely interested in spending $30 in the online store have nothing to purchase (we insist on receiving a box with our GW:EN purchase). Thanks.

This is another question for clarification.

The $29 can of course be spent before July 5th.
This is just to be sure.

thank you.

I believe July 5th is actually the start date, so pretty sure no is the answer.

how i'm going to get this?
this actually is a very bad idea, i got all parts of GW already, so i cant buy them at the store, i got nearly all pvp skills unlocked, so i'm not going to buy a pvp only expansion. i got 9 character slots, i barely use 5 of them (the other 4 chars are storage). so i'm not going to buy more character slots.
i'm going to buy GW:EN in the shop, already got it pre-ordered.
so actually, i can buy only 1 thing in the store, a GW:EN pre-release bonus pack, how am i going to spend €30 with it?

are there coming more things to buy in the GW online store? i realy want the extra mission pack.

Tamuril elansar, if you read the entire thread, you'd see that this question was already asked.

Whether it is a bad idea or not should be discussed in the other thread though. This thread is just for neutral questions.

Hey if anyone of you guys can confirm or deny that those Visa or American Express credit card gift cards, can work or not? By purchasing something with one of those things; I just sent in a huge letter to the GW support team about the question.

I know Gaile you have confirmed it, but sometimes the clarification from their side is the real confusion. I need to see if a customer has already done this type of transaction or not.

I have personally used a visa gift card to make a purchase in the store before. Most of them require an activation (online) to allow for internet purchases, so that there is a name and address tied to the card.

Will there be a possibility to apply the purchase retroactively, so that people who have bought products through the store equal to or greater than the requisite value can still get it without having to purchase more? Enquiring as There are no further items I really desire through the store (got games, enough slots, GotY, not interested in PvP editions) and I prefer a box when I buy a game.
Alternatively, will this content be available in some form of pre-order for EotN like with Nightfall, that can be purchased either via the in-game store, or that can be actually physically purchased as I believe that would satisfy a number of people, myself included

thats pretty much where i am with 2 accounts . and i really want guildwars in a box, as the box set is so nice, book of artwork etc, and the box is often cheaper than buying it from the store anyways.

the concept is pretty dodgy, just let us buy it for a small amount instead, much better

This works in the states. However not in Most of Europe and Canada. Over here we dont have the Visa/Master card stickers on our cards

In which case you could possibly depending on where you are located buy a pre-paid cc as gaile mentioned....through a quick google search I know Canada does indeed have them.

My questions are:
  • Will players who buy the retail (boxed) version of GW:EN have any way to access the bonus mission pack via the regular retail channels?
  • Will players who buy the retail (boxed) version of GW:EN get the story of what happened to Gwen after the searing?

My favour greatly goes to boxed retail products. I'm very much interested in the total storyline and unable to buy via the PlayNC online store.

No

and...

No (not unless someone tells you who got the bonus material?)

At least not at this time nor does it seem to be in plans for the future. Its pretty much been said that this is a ONE TIME promotional offer available EXCLUSIVELY through the online store.

I hope this answers your questions.

A follow up question for you or Gaile:

I realize the "buy $30 worth of stuff get bonus pack free" offer is a one time thing, but once the bonus pack is out (and by which time the period of the promotion will be over), has it been said whether the bonus pack will be available for purchase from the online store and/or other retail outlets?

Not a bad deal then. Unfortunately I have no reason to spend money in the online store as I have more then enough char slots and I already own all 3 campaigns on all my accounts << 1 char over 3 accounts...will the online store buy back an account or 2? ;-) >>
