those people arnt being screwd, but they are being very big babies.

It doesnt matter if they have bought stuff before, because THE DEAL WASNT GOING ON BACK THEN. If you go buy something at a store and then a few weeks later they have a special offer and give you something free, you can't walk back to the store and ask for the free bonus because they wont give it to you since you didnt fulfill the requirments for getting it.

Sometimes life doesnt work out perfectly, you cant ask people to baby you cause you feel cheated cause you dont want to follow the rules of a deal

Hmmm any chance we'll be seeing this + GW:EN together in the LOCAL STORE IN TOWN?

Unfortunately for me, I'd want to buy this update for 2 accounts, but I can't buy stuff over the net.

Ohh well, I guess no special missions for me... But I wonder, with the secrets of the Charr and Gwen being in the update, what's left in GW:EN? :S

theres a big difference between this and other store promotions. all of those are either 1) insubstantial novelties, or 2) available through other means. This is a pack of missions relating to the MAIN STORYLINE that is available ONLY through this offer. If it were a fancy weapon skin or aura or minipet, fine, in-store-offer only is just peachy. But missions relating to the MAIN STORYLINE to be available to ALL PLAYERS.

If a store had a deal... buy sushi and you get milk free... and there was NO OTHER WAY to get milk, don't you think there would be a bit of an uproar from those that live in an area where sushi isn't available? or from those that just bought tons of sushi the week before, or just despise sushi? THAT is essentially what this issue is, not a freakin free keychain when you buy 3 boxes of cereal deal... theres plenty of ways to get keychains out there.

my suggestion: give something different to online-store orders, like a fancy bonus customized weapon pack or something. Give the bonus mission pack to those who register all 4 games.

As someone who enjoys the game and supports the game with time and purchases I would love the new bonus pack.

The problem is that I have already purchased everything on the store. (and yes I have 20+ char slots available). I will gladly support the game with my checkbook but your "Bonus" doesnt support me.

Any ideas how I could get the new bonus pack?

Just buy GW:EN from the on-line store?

Have you played these missions? No you haven't. people are making it out as being nescasary, when most likely they will be as unimportant as the missions we have during dragon festival.

and my comparison still stands as there are many times when the free stuff thats put out as a promotion is important to the product.

If these missions were that important they would make it part of the preorder for gwen, but they are just using it to promote on-line store sales, so they are most likely pretty useless in the long run of things, which is why it is really silly for people to be getting this worked up over it. they act as if their whole guild wars game depends on it, yet they know less then a few sentences worth of information about them.

Not to mention the missions become available AFTER the period in which they can be earnd through the store, which tells you they dont want people to play it and tell others if its worth it or not, cause it probably isnt worth it, and if people knew that, they wouldnt try and get it.

Ok, let's get some things straight. If GWEN cost 39.99, then all who buy it will qualify for the bonus mission pack, so no worries, just buy what you were going to buy anyway from the online store. If you guys want art, I have an idea.

How about ANet release the artbook as a PDF download from the official website. To verify that it is being downloaded by players who purchased GWEN,they must enter either the used access key for GWEN, or a alternative number that is link to the PDF file access.

I, for 1, don't need another box. I have 3 accounts and all 3 campaigns on each account, so boxes don't fascinate me in the least. Yet, the book of art being desired by others is understood. So PDF it, and get it on your computer. Easier to save, and takes up less space.

Just my 2 cents.

If people really want this, they'll find a way to get it (ie, pre-paid credit card, etc).

Those who say "it's not worth it, or it's not worth the hassle..."

They are probably right.

If you think it's worth it, get it. That simple.

You don't download the game. The info is already downloaded to your computer. When you buy it online you buy an access key. Nothing to download until you play the area except whatever Anet pre-streams to your computer.

I think some are more annoyed over the fact that they are offering extra content for online purchase only. So that leaves alot of people out for those who don't use the online store nor like to use their credit cards or even for people who do not have credit cards.

I already had my copy of GW:EN reserved well before they even offered this deal so I kinda miss out but the expansion is more important to me so I am happy with just that and I get the pre-release bonus pack so all is good

Now before I start, I love Guild Wars, and most of the time I back all of the decisions that ArenaNet makes. I know it's very difficult running an MMO.

However, I have concerns to this new bonus pack. You see, some time ago I purchased 12 character slots, six for my fiance and 6 extra for myself. To me, this promotion kind of sucks in the way that I don't get credit for those purchases in the past. In the same right, I'd rather have a box and manual when I purchase Guild Wars: Eye of the North. Since I've all the character slots I need, and I want the box/manual for GW: EN, I feel backed into a corner here. I'd like the extra missions, but what is the point if by chance not many people purchase GW: EN from the online store? Also, what if I get buyers remorse in the long run? I wouldn't mind paying an extra 5 dollars USD to get the upgrade and be able to have the box/manual as well.

Are there plans to make these missions a purchasable upgrade for those of us who really insist on having the box/manual as well? Or any other options to get this upgrade? Because it really feels like I'm missing out here, and it's a bummer

And then we'd have threads from people who bought GW this year and are complaining that they dont have a CC and are not 3 years old in game and really want access to these missions.

I think that by adding these bonus missions to GW:EN Collectors Edition for retail release, would probably solve the issue. If such a thing is possible.

Im undecided on whether I buy retail or online, I do intend to get the bonus missions either way. So I will wait to see what more the online store will put on offer.

Many stores have deals when games first come out, usually 10 bucks off. Can the online store price match?

I'd rather get the game (oh wait, expansion) as cheap as possible. If the extra content was available for purchase, that may work out better for me and others.

Also, stating that we get the content 'for free with purchase' would lead me to assume the content does have a cost associated. Any word on what that cost is? If it will be made available as a stand alone purchaseable item that is.

You know if this project goes well, it probably will be like this till Guild Wars 2 comes along. I mean there is enough unanswered questions that probably be boiling over even after EotN itself. I can see the extension now, like the other realms besides FoW and UW; or where you actually play as one of the five gods who takes down Abaddon.

However I agree with the idea that maybe sooner or latter, after these small expansion add up; they put it in a box and sell it at a retail branch. Just like “The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion: The Knights of the Nine.”

However for now I am content in dealing with getting a Visa Gift Card. At least that’s the only one of the two doors open to me at the moment. The other is kind of dark and sinister.

Sorry but you're wrong. Nearly all companies have policies in place 30days, 45 days or whatever in place to make sure that this type of thing doesn't happen(with receipt, of course). It's called customer service, and without a happy customer there is no business.

Should people that bought 6+ months ago get the package, probably not. Should people that purchased July 1st-July 4th 11:59pm be given a grace period yes!

Should this be available for retail purchase, yes. But Anet will cater to who they see as the most important customers.

it's always been that way...with the exception of Sorrow's Furnace (early promotion of the game) and Hard Mode (asked for by the community)

you paid for prophecies...new content
you paid for factions...new content
you paid for nightfall...new content

people will pay for eton...new content

the bonus missions are a promotion to promote the online store.

the majority of major content updates required you to purchase them...and there's still no subscription to play...so what's changed again?

Guild Wars has been a micro-transaction game for a while now.

i still say the pack should go to those that support the game by buying all three games and the expansion. those people should be more important than those that get proph for a gift then spend just 30$ in store, right? lol

theres one bonus mission related to each package, so it would make sense that the requirement for getting bonus pack is owning all four packages...

Erm...you always had to pay for the big new stuff, except sorrows furnace, you paid for factions and nightfall didn't you? Also Arenanet is a business remember, they can't give you everything for free or they'd go bust. At least with GW you only pay when you want to gain access to new stuff, in pay per month games you play even if you don't get new stuff.

Im sorry to tell you but, you got yourself mixed up there. what you are talking about is prices, such as an item going on sale or they have a price drop. it has nothing to do with getting promotional offers, especially when said offers specifically say what dates the offer is good for.

Even then Its only if the company has such a policy, otherwise the company is by no means required to give you anything.

I'm looking forward to getting EotN and the Bonus Missions from the online store (I've gotten myself a bank account and a Visa just for online transactions, so I only keep a small amount of money on that account to minimize any risks), but I'm also hoping that the online prices are able to compete with the store I usually use, eg. play.com. I honestly don't need any more manuals, boxes or discs lying around the house, so I'm perfectly comfortable with buying just the access key, provided that the price reflects the fact that I'm not getting any printed material.

i'm going to buy GW:EN in the shop, already got it pre-ordered.
so actually, i can buy only 1 thing in the store, a GW:EN pre-release bonus pack, how am i going to spend €30 with it?

are there coming more things to buy in the GW online store? i realy want the extra mission pack.
Same I think this a crappy idea to earn some sach from A-net's side. Using the Gwen card...

hey,
will there be anyway for people that cant buy online to get the four missions?
as in €5-10 in a shop?

- i'm on of those people that preferes a box and instruction manual to a emailed code.
so if it was in a shop that would rock or if anet maield boxes too

Boxed versions FTW

- butif they get it free for buyign on line, and other would buy online if they could (they have there reasons) then shouldn't they be allowed get the same quality? i really wouldnt mind pay a few euros extra of getting it

does buying it in a shop make it any less of a game, no. they why make the missions online only

-if your going to say about anet deseres the money (which they do), i really wouldnt mind pay a small bit more

not about money buy availability

As someone else said earlier, why not make it so that when the EotN access key is added to the account, a random mission out of the four is unlocked for the account?
I've already bought enough character slots so have no desire for more, and I've bought the GotY upgrade. These are all I'm interested in buying from the store. I like having a boxed copy of the game so I can read the manual etc, something I really prefer.
It would make more sense to either make it so that when purchasing the EotN pre-release thing, that can be bought online or offline in a store, that a random mission pack comes with it. Or, offering EotN when it comes out with a mission pack for a little bit extra.
Offering the mission packs only for spending a sum of money that a fair percentage of people will either be unable to in the store (no credit card etc) or unwilling (already got enough char slots, GotY, all 3 campaigns, most skills, prefer boxes etc) just smacks of profitability and pushing the GWstore as a means of purchasing things at the expense of everything else. Sure, I could buy 3 character slots to ensure that I could get the bonus pack, but I have no need for them.
Making the missions something that can be physically purchased just makes more sense

That question was already responded to. NO and NO again. It will only be available via this special offer.

Unless retailers can add mission and Items they can't compete with this offer. This is bad business ethics in it's most obvious form. NCSoft is essentially selling GW:EN to it's customer base [players] then to the retailers [non players] (who won't make sales or their money back in sales from the risk they took). Then NCSoft can claim higher sales then what they actually had in continuous customers.

In this way NCSoft can claim high sales margins without admitting how many of those sales are actual players.

OVER 6 MILLION COPIES of GW:EN SOLD!, with about 2 million registered GW:EN players. (half of them purchased GW:EN online, snicker, snicker, snicker. we stuck it to the retailers this time.) No wonder EB games and other retailers are selling PC games less and less its too much of a risk to be screwed by the game makers.

I think what's been stated is that the Bonus Mission Pack will only be available exclusively through the special promotion offer (prior to its release). I think there's no statement by ANet on how it might be available once it's available for release.

That's a simple question that ANet could address...will the Bonus Mission Pack be available (for sale or otherwise) after the special promotion offer expires? ANet should probably know the answer to that question already, although they may want to hold back on answering it.

If it will available then, there's the question of what the terms of availability might be, e.g., what price it might be at. That may be one reason to avoid addressing that issue. Perhaps ANet wants to gauge how popular the promotion is before deciding on a price?

I think you're wrong to punish the loyal GW fans, who live, breath the GW lore and who HAVE supported the NCShop. I have purchased about 20 slots on 5 accounts, and none of that loyalty is being rewarded, I am still forced to buy more. It doesn't strike me that ANet is being loyal to their fans, but they want us to be loyal to them.

Does anyone know when GW:EN will be available to purchase in the in-game shop, and what will the retail package contain?

If the retail is just a box, a CD and small manual and available before the Bonus pack offer ends then I'll happily buy GW:EN from the store, however if the retail contains more, then i will want one from a shop... in a box.

Gaile,

I was wondering if you could provide some answers on this. At present, the only currency option available to me in the GW online store is Euros. I live in North America (Canada to be specific), and it makes far more sense for me to make purchases in US$ than Euros or Pounds. I don't see an option anywhere in the online store to change currency (like there is in the Play NC store). I would like to make the purchase in the online store in order to get the Bonus Missions Pack, but being forced to use an unfavorable currency is a very big turn-off. If I live in North America, and my account is on the North American servers, why is my Online store in Euros, and why can't I change it to another currency you accept, namely US$?

http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...php?t=10175002
that thread details the problem/situation a bit more. I posted here because this is what you seem to be reading and it is somewhat on topic.

I sent a question about this in to support, and this is what they replied with:

Hello (Countess Corpula)

Thanks for contacting us regarding the Bonus Mission Pack for Guild Wars.

The Guild Wars Mission Pack will be made available between 11/1/07 - 11/30/07 to all accounts that spend $29 USD (€26/£17) or more in the Official Guild Wars Store in-game. The purchase in question must be made between 12 p.m. PST on 7/5/07 and 12 p.m. PST on 10/31/07.
This promotion is limited to one per account. The Guild Wars Mission Pack is not transferable and will only be available to the exact account that fulfills this promotion.

Please let us know if you need further clarification on this.

Regards,
Guild Wars Account Support
As you can see, this response has little do do with my question about currencies used in the online store. A more on topic response would be appreciated.
