GW:EN Prerelease Bonus Pack
Morgan19
I've used the shield for so long I'd forgotten it was a bonus item. A simple lapse of memory.

WOO! Thanks for giving us the sword today. I was really looking forward to it and NOW WE HAVE IT!
Morgan19
With the sword... It seems like you can add pommels but not hilts. Is that right? Why one and not the other?

I think it has one of those as a permanent mod already, something about Icy?
Isn't that how most of the bonus weapons are?

m19 They just updated these /bonus weapons. You can add the mod component that is lacking on the item. You cannot replace it. It's supposed to do cold dmg so you cant throw a 20/20 on it, but you can throw on a +5 armor.
And you cannot change its inscription/inherent mod its 15% enchanted etc.
If you add a mod to the weapon, you cant salvage it off it.

When you say "these", do you mean only the new ones, or are all Bonus weapons fixed now?

If nothing else, presearing warriors just received the best anti-Charr weapon they've ever seen.
Sciros Darkblade
The Glacial Blade is too small or set wrong as far as grip goes. My warrior's hand is AT THE HILT rather than the handle and goes through it rather than holding on. Looks really ghetto and I hope ANet fixes the way it sits, however they do that.
Right now it's like this:
It probably ought to look like this:

Considering you're wearing the gigantic Primeval gauntlets of course it'll look odd. The Glacial Blade looks fine with other gauntlets.
Sciros Darkblade
My *arms* haven't gotten any longer, heh. The actual grip (maybe I should've used a different angle) is off. Perhaps I'll demonstrate with bare hands...
Mystic Cobra
I got the same problem.

I got a worse problem! I own NF, Factions and GW and I got the pre-release pack from the online store. And now after 4 hours of sitting in my guild hall on a NF character I get a message.
"You have 10 hours remaining for your NF trial" WHAT!? I own Nightfall!
Is this warning just a technicality or is it bad? I submitted this question to ANET as well.
EDIT: The timer counts down and nothing bad happens, its just a technicality. Phew.

That's normal Seissor, about 10 hours ago I got the 30 second warning adn I still got my nf skills and can traverse Elona.
It's just a small glitch.

lol Just got the same message trial finished but still playing
SOOOOO
those that already had the 3 campaigns actually didn't get the full pre-release pack bonus.
Not that i'm complaining the weapons are great and preview is gonna be great but
Pity we couldn't have just got the keys to give them away to friends
and get then interested in GW ect.

I ordered the prerelease through the ingame store and it worked fine. What I dont get is why, if I already own all the campaigns, would they offer a "buddy key" that is localized only to the account you purchased it on? Like why wouldnt they email me a separate buddy key so that I could, ya know, actually give it to a buddy to try out the game? So now I have this worthless buddy key linked to my account that wont get used.
Anyway, I'm far from complaining. I get to preview the GWEN weekend as well as have permanent weapons on my account at no cost. I'm just trying to figure out the logic behind the buddy key being linked to the master account which already owns all the campaigns. I actually do have some friends who would like to try GW and probably wont buy it without trying it first, so this is Anets loss I guess.

Can someone tell me, that if I create a charachter a year later the /bonus command is still going to work? So the ability to give the bonus items to any new character is permanent?
Darkobra
As long as you have the key on your account, you should be able to make the weapons at will on any character.
Feminist Terrorist
Probably a stupid question, but I really don't have several hours to sift through threads and find the answer-how much will GWEN cost through the online store? And why the heck is it $49 from some stores and $39 from another? $49 is the price for a full game, and I do believe Anet said since this is an expansion, it would not be priced the same as a full game.
Been busy with other stuff, so haven't kept up on game happenings.

I think they want us all to buy the pre-order bonus pack, before revealing exactly how much we *won't* be saving, by buying directly from them.
MirageMaster
ingame store price for gwen was 40 euros i belive, here in hungary i seen gwen for about 24 euros,go figure.
captain_carter
just thought I would let people know, I preordered GW:EN from HMV.co.uk and they sent me an email with a pre release access code.
That ought to answer some potential questions.
And yes I believe the price that you will be charged on the online store will be the recommended retail price, which according to the sweepstake prize information was £24.99/$39.99, from what I remember.

Gameplay.co.uk and Amazon.co.uk are now advertising the same - £17.99 and the pre-order key free by email.
I knew I was going to regret impulse buying from the store.

Pre-release pack is $10 at Best Buy, not the $5 like the other retailers.

I bought the Pre-Order online the same day my hubby bought me the box at EBGames ($5). Since I already have the Preorder on my account and cannot return the box (no refunds on stuff like this), I now have an extra copy of the Pre-Order.
Is it against the EULA to "re-sell" the box code (since I haven't used it)? And would selling the code for in-game money (like 50k) be against the EULA?

lol people could pre order from a site, get the code then cancel there order...they didnt think of that. Do i get the pre order weapons by pre ordering the normal game from amazon.co.uk

Plus, there is no way to really "sell" the code without being accused of being a scammer (even if you aren't). There's no way to confirm the code is legit, w/o them actually trying it (and then they could scam you!)
I'd just give the code away to a Guildie or friend. It's only five bucks...

I still need to buy the pre-order...wah.

Just to add my .02 in...
I have the pre-order via the store. Am I going to have to order GW:EN "again" in the sense that I'll have to make a second transaction (List price minus the pre-order price= 2nd transaction?)
I know I've seen others pondering this situation. Anyone know the details?

Gaff, in theory you will pay the price of the game minus the price of the pre-order if you have purchased from the the ingame store. However details have not really been provided as to how this is going to work - only that apparently it will.

Question: Has anybody gotten the bonus stuff from gamestop yet? :/ I call 2 gamestop stores that are near me twice a week (monday and friday) and they STILL don't have the pre-order stuff. if they don't have it by the 22nd (wednesday before the weekend event) I guess I'll have to just order it online somewhere or in the guildwars official store just so I can take part in the weekend event and demand a refund of my money from gamestop. -.-;; (since that'll probably be my only chance to play it for several months as my college classes start on the 27th.)

I don't know about Gamestop, but I got mine from EB games.
I paid $5 to reserve a copy as soon as I could, they were supposed to call me when the pre-release came in. They never did, but I finally callled them, and they had it. Gamestop and EB Games usually order just enough games to sell to those people who reserved them, especially PC Games. If you didn't pre-order, your best bet might be Best Buy, Walmart, etc.
Of course, you can always order online, too...

Of course, you can always order online, too... I did pre-order it, though. (and paid 15 dollars in total, which is why I said earlier that I'd have to demand a refund if they didn't have it by the 22nd) Granted I haven't called them yet THIS week (I did last week) because I'll be going to the store on either saturday or sunday anyways after I get my hair cut, so I'll see them for myself if they have it or not.
Edit: I actualy did think about ordering it online in the guildwars official store, that way I could also unlock the bonus mission pack at the same time, but then comes the question of will I get my 15 dollars back from gamestop, or would it be wasted?

I pre-ordered GW:EN at Game Stop on the 27th and about a week later they gave me a call so I came in and picked up the bonus pack. What day did you place your order? I put down $5 and I'm sure that's deducted from the price when I pick up GW:EN. I'm just wondering but how come you had to place down $15?
Also my local Best Buy has the bonus pack too but it's $10 and I'm not sure if that goes towards buying GW:EN when it's released.

Ace2001: Keep calling them, and if it doesn't come next week, get a refund and buy it online.
You shouldn't of had to put $15 down anyway... that's got to be against company policy, as I've never heard of either Gamestop or EB Games demanding that for a pre-order.
I might just ask for my money back on general principle.
HKSdivision: Best Buy should credit the $10 to GWEN if you show your receipt when you buy GWEN. (they don't do pre-orders like EB or Gamestop, they just sell the pre-release package on the shelf).

Eh, it was actualy $5 but I've NEVER had this problem before with gamestop, they've always been good with pre-orders so I had put an extra $10 down on it.
edit @ 8/11/07: I went to the gamestop and they had it. And now I know EXACTLY why they kept telling me they DIDN'T have it. Instead of placing it where they keep the pre-order stuff for all the other games they have going on, they had the pre-order box (it's actualy the size of a full PC game) in with the other PC games they have there. (Not even the person who works there that was looking for it could find it. I had to pick up the GW:EN box and read right in the front where it says "Prerelease bonus pack" and had to point it out to the girl.)
But yes, I now have the bonus pack/prerelease stuff. Going to go add it to my account now.
Darkest Dawn
Sorry if this has been explained already, I have a question. I just pre-ordered the game on amazon.com. Will this get me the bonus stuff everyone is talking about?
Thanks, and sorry if this was answered already. I looked a little, but since I'm at work I don't have a lot of time to peruse the threads.

It says you get all the stuff on the product page, but it doesn't say how. Assuming it's the same as amazon.co.uk, they'll email you a code to activate the pre-release pack.
Mordakai
Don't know how amazon handles pre-release. I assume they would send you the actual pre-release box?
For those interesting in buying from a retail store:
Target has a hell of a deal. You buy the pre-release for 99 cents. It comes with a $3 off coupon.
So, you actually end up saving $2 over other retailers.

Amazon does email a code for the pre-release pack, and then ships the game on or near release date. Not sure about the box for the pre-release itself.
