Personally I dont want it from the online store.
Im just amazed that all of the major online retail chains make no mention of the pre-release bonus back, even on the day of its release.
Why do Amazon and GAME appear to have no idea that this exists when they are GW retail partners?

so if thats true you basically get nothing when you buy the prerelease now? just a promise that in 5 weeks you'll get the items added and get to play a couple days early? that sounds.... very wrong...
why even have a pre-release pack online? why not just put the game in the store a couple days before the preview weekend and go from there >.<

i dont get how this pre-release package works.
it says it's selling for £3.49 at plaync.com
does buying the pre-release package automatically make me buy the retail version of gwen online?
or is this pre-release thing sold as a seperate item, a one time payment?

They have stated however that if you buy the pre-release pack from them they will deduct its cost from the cost of GW:EN itself if you also buy that from them.
You could also just buy the pre-release pack from them and buy GW:EN anywhere else you like.

As for the pre-release... it's called a pre-release for a reason. It comes before the official release. It gets people excited about the release, and gets people to reserve copies of the game.
That's the purpose.

so does anyone actually have the pre release pack yet? I was under the impression that if I walked down to my hypothetical local store I would be able to pick one off the shelf.

No idea, because its not even in the ONLINE store yet, which makes absolutely no sense.
MirageMaster
if its not in store after the date has past, its called false advertasing.
Mordakai
Some people here say they got the pre-release in the mail.
I know Gamestop and EB Games know nothing about it, but I'm planning to buy from the online store anyway (as soon as it's available).

The prerelease is available in some game stores here, its available in the playNC store...but for some reason its not yet available in the ingame store? whats up with that?
kalebmordannon
I ordered my pre-release pack and added the key to my account. I assume the weapons will be accessed through the /bonus command, but, they aren't there yet.
Smoke & Pancake
Walked into GAME today and they had loads on the shelf £1.99
No weapons yet have to wait for an update or something......

please stop with these falsehoods... the bonus mission pack is NOT tied to buying gW:EN, you get it as long as you spend over £17/$29 in the ingame store, no matter what you spend your money on...
hell, you could buy three character slots, or a PvP unlock pack or two and still get it
Anyway, on topic, yeah, just ran into GAME here in chaltenham, £1.99 on he shelf and they aren't counted towards the preorder... thats stupid, that means buying from these stores the cost of the game just went up by £2

Right. An update that should arrive before the official release date of the game.

That's the purpose. my question was why have an ONLINE pre-release pack.... obviously the in-store ones have the purpose of reserving the game, but that isn't a factor in the online store...

I'm guessing it will be in the online store at noon pacific. That seems to be when they like to do stuff.

From the official wiki:
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/GW:EN...ase_Bonus_Pack
Won't get bonus weapons until we add GW:EN access key. : (

How about just once, for a double weekend, holiday event or release - the timings are done in GMT so things start at midnight U.K time on a given day?
Kind of as a little thank you for inventing longitude for you guys out there in the rest of the world

yeah i guess theres absolutely no reason to buy the online prerelease until just before GWEN comes out :\

Well,
it appears that I've just spent money in the online store that *won't* be counted towards my bonus mission pack...
...see foolishly I bought the pre-order from the playNC store (as I was told to do by the guildwars website) since it's NOT available in the online store that you get to from the character selection screen (despite the fact that this is clearly stated several places)
Then, after MUCH hunting I finally discover that 'qualifying purchases MUST be made through the Guildwars online store (the character selection screen one), items bought through the PlayNC store (the only online store that actually HAS the prerelease pack) will not qualify...
Basically if you want credits for your promo missions DON'T buy through the PlayNC store since they won't count...
Looks like I pay the price for my impatience...

Looks like I'm in the same boat as you Boris De Pig, if I want it at all I'll have to get it from the PlayNC store and get no extra credit for it.

Argh. Good point, I wish I had thought of that when I posted the link.
Man, how can Anet screw up their own online store? Note to everyone else: No reason to buy it now. Wait until Aug 23. Buster
As I guessed, The store I pre-ordered from has no clue about the pre-order package and does not have it yet. Can someone shed some light on this ? Should stores already have the pre-release box or are they getting it a little later. Any info would be great if anyone knows.
Arctic Wind
some stores simply dont have the prerelease bonus package, as i noticed trying to order from Play.com (not playNC for those who wonder). but since its possible to buy the preorder package separate i didnt see it as a major problem tho. my plan is simply to get the preorder package from guildwars online store, and wait for play.com to send me my GW:EN box...as i am weak for physical material like boxes, maps, instruction books with pieces of lore to read and so on :P *droooooool*
MirageMaster
lol only fools who are ignorant about bonus mission pack are gonna use retail stores and not buy it in game. They gonna cry big time after they see they wont get that mission pack lol.
kirby2096
If anyone in the UK wants to know where and how they can be guaranteed to get the boxed prerelease bonus (for free, not the £2 con GAME are doing) plus the GW:EN expansion from an online retailer pm me.
They only have about twelve prereleases in so it's first come first serve, and the total cost is much less than the RRP/In-Game Online Store too. This would probably only be good for people who want the actual boxes/cases, but don't want the Bonus Missions or will be buying other stuff in the in-game store anyway. I'm the latter type, which means I'll be spending CE-esque money on Guild Wars again.. Wydras
I just bought it at Gamestop and they didn't have the preorder bonus pack in yet. But I paid for the game fully. They just told me to call them tomorrow and see if they have it in.

Wait, you basically just gave a store money in the hopes they'll eventually have your product?
Fox Reeveheart
Well this is just getting stupid.
Where is that customer relations gaile chick at anyways to clear this up? Perhaps having it on the plaync store instead of the guildwars store makes it just so you have less towards the bonus mission packs thus having to give them MORE money. But yes... it just makes SENSE to put a pre-release pack of guild wars on the guilds wars store! thats just a given! Who was the idiot that has made this not happen or delay it?! Boris De Pig
the other delightful thing I got when I entered my code (obtained from the PlayNC store) was a 14 day/10 hour trial of all the guild wars games.
Since this appears to have been merged into my main account (that already *has* all 3 campaigns) I'm not too sure what I can do about it. Ideally I'd like to have given those codes to guildies so they can try the other games and see if they want to buy them, but it appears that's not an option. And the best part about all of this? the disclaimer on the bottom of the e-mail: Quote:
Online game codes are non-returnable, non-refundable and can only be used to create/upgrade one game account.
so I can't even get my money back from the Play NC store so that *should* it become available in the Guildwars store I can get it from there instead and have it count towards my bonus missions. | BdP |
