cast 7,8 then 2 when start attack cast 6,1, then 3,4,5,4,5,4,5 and on & on

Well, here it goes: always keep up the attunements for energy.
Kinetic armor and mystic regen give you excellent defence.
Keep casting to keep Kinetic armor up.
Attack:
1.) Ebon hawk: Eat rock
2.) Stoning: Eat rock and kiss dirt
3.) Obsidian flame: Eat rock.
Repeat until target is dead.
Somewhat difficult: Mhenlo needs to be stripped from his enchants, make sure you don't remove your attunements in the process.
Gwen can be hard because she interrupts everything. Try to finish her off quickly.
It's quite fun to play because most enemies do no real damage to you. this build rocks, tyvm for the post

It worked well for everyone except Bison, any suggestions on tactics I should use for him with this build?

I've been using the monk build posted on page 3, and have been able to beat pretty much everyone including Magni (by kiting until bear form wears off). BUT the one I started doing the tournament for kills me quick. How do you get Zho? That moa attacks so fast with such small damage amount that it gets by the prot spirit and the spirit bond, and RoF does no good. My signets get interrupted, so the damage output is virtually nill. Any suggestions?

Warrior build
1. Auspicious Parry
2. Riposte
3. Deadly Riposte
4. Disarm
5. Savage Slash
6. Gash
7. Dolyak Signet
8. Healing Signet
Norgu is near impossible with this build. I have beaten all others bar Joko (as I haven't fought him). Some of the enemies you must be patient and play smartly but in general it is easy except for Norgu.
I plan to improve upon this. PvE skills in some spots are options, I was beating him before I had any more than Rank 1 in any reputation title track (so PvE skills would have been quite weak).
Might not need 2 interrupts, might replace 1 of the ripostes for a definite bleeding skill (sever artery, ear bite, barbarous slice). Didn't really need Dolyak much once I got used to the build also, it is nice for when you need healing signet though.

Bring an ebon scythe and use this:
[skill]Wild Blow[/skill][skill]Mystic Sweep[/skill][skill]Conviction[/skill][skill]Ebon Dust Aura[/skill][skill]Mystic Regeneration[/skill][skill]Vital Boon[/skill][skill]Heart of Fury[/skill][skill]Rending Touch[/skill]
Can beat just about everyone but Joko (never encountered Danika or the ghostly).

This is what I used on my Ranger.
Marksmanship 12 + 1 + 2; Expertise + 2; Wilderness Survival + 1
1. Magebane Shot {E}
2. Screaming Shot
3. Apply Poison
4. Favorable Winds
5. Troll Unguent
6. Antidote Signet
7. Nature's Renewal / Finish Him! (when you get it)
8. Drunken Master
I used a bow with lengthened bleeding, +1 marks, and 15^50. Survivor runes and all that. I used Nature's Renewal the first time through only, replacing it with "Finish Him!" once I won the tournament, though really, both work fine. "Finish Him!" just makes sure you win that much faster. Most of the battles last all of about 10 seconds, with Bison being anywhere between 30-60 seconds (noticed that I rarely if ever have to re-apply Drunken Master on him).
This can beat every opponent, except that I do have issues with Danika. This build can beat her, it just takes too damn long, and I usually just give up. I find that with enough pressure, you can make her run really low on energy, and eventually get her down low enough, but it just takes too long.
Making the spirits behind the gate is important, since it can confuse melee attackers. When they get close, just run away, and they'll focus on trying to get to the spirits, which of course they can't. This is really noticeable with Bison, as if you do it right, you can get him glitched to run back to his starting point and just stand there casting Purge Signet and nothing else. It's hilarious.

Isn't using a build that includes a skill that is received as a reward for winning the tournament to beat the very tournament that rewards it a bit ironic?

Yes, yes I suppose it is. Man, maybe I should've included a skill you could use instead of the one you get as a reward just in case. Oh wait, I already did. Guess it's not so ironic after all, huh?

easy guide for paragons:
go p/rit
-you get a free pain, so equip that
-buy shadowsong from Michiko in KC
-Ursan blessing, low level works
-ebon assassin support
Set the 2 spirits at the entrance, go in to aggro Bison, wait till he gets blinded then throw the assassin at him, go Ursan, get your bison cup
The nice thing about this setup is you only need to buy 1 skill, and you can easily do with low rep levels (ebon & norn), and you don't need an energy swap to cast

This build will work definatly.. won easily even against magni
The only things to look out for is (or I had problems with) :
Melonni (for some reason she uses something to make her health stay up... but I have only lost to her like twice out of 50.
And the alessia... lost to her twice because my spirits didn't kill her fast enough and she used healing hands and the rest is history.
Also, I have not fought Kilroy, but it says he uses healing hands so he might be hard aswell.
I USE N/RT
1. Faintheartedness
2. Summon ebon vanguard
3. painful bond
4. pain
5. bloodsong
6. wanderlust
7. shadowsong
8. finish him
Basically, do what everyone else does, cast at the 2nd line - 4,5,6,7.
-aggro
-cast painful bond
-cast vanguard
-when the opponent is 50% or less cast finish him
-should end there
For Magni the Bison:
- cast 4,5,6,7
- cast FAINTHEARTEDNESS (this is because he uses purge signet to take away hexes, if you cast painful bond he'll just take it away)
-then cast painful bond
-then cast vanguard
-then faintheartedness again to slow his attack
-then when hes under 50% cast finish him --- done!
12 communing, 12 channel, 4 curses ---- N/RT (you can switch faint with any hex basically to make magni use his purge first)

Here's my build:
Dagger mastery: 16(12+1+3)
Critical strikes: 13(12+1)
Zealous daggers with +5 en mod make combo hit without pauses, it helps a lot.
1. Critical Agility(suns title)
2. "You move like a Dwarf"(norn title)
3. Sneak Attack(vanguard title)
4. Jungle Strike
5. Trampling Ox
6. Falling Spider
7. Blades of Steel
8. Impale
Before attacking cast CA and then press keys from 2 to 8. :P
Fighting against Argo, Gwen, Eve and Bison is little bit more tricky.
Argo: cast CA, get as close as you can, stop to interrupt his stoneflesh aura, with YMLD. After that just spam with skills in right order, he'll die before he casts sliver armor.
Eve: cast CA, don't use 2nd skill until she casts reckless haste, interrupt it, start combo as soon as possible and trampling ox should interrupt insidious parasite. Without this two she'll be biting dust in 5 seconds.
Gwen: She is pretty hard with her Signet of Midnight(3/4 sec cast time), but with good timing you can interrupt it with 2. Just wait till she comes to you to cast it, just before she stops use 2. If SoM isn't interrupted, attack her without using skills, wait for blind to worn out. As soon as it ends use 2 to interrupt SoM, if you failed again you're dead.
Bison: Cast CA, wait for him so he can use bear form, use 2 skill half second before you attack him, if you timed right, trampling ox should interrupt his purge signet. After first combo, attack him without skills until he uses purge sig again, interrupt it and carry on with combo. In between skill attacks use sneak attack to keep him blinded. After 3 combos and few minor attacks he should lose.
PS. This build is based on AB build I saw some time ago, I just changed 3 skills.

Cast Union and Displacement in the waiting area, step up to the line but don't cross it or your enemy comes running. Cast Pain, Wanderlust, Bloodsong, Anguish, Shadowsong (notice those that live longer get cast first), then cross the line, have your enemy come running, cast Painful Bond ... and on to the next level.
I usually placed my entire bunch in the right corner of the doorway, basically right on the front line of the entrance door, it seems to avoid a blind spot. One exception is Razah, if you get him, sprint out, cast Anguish within his range, hex him with Painful Bond and move out of his range.
If you get the heavy ele hitters, step away from your spirits or they get AoEed. I just hexed and kept moving from the left to the right wall and back.
Shadowsong is reasonably important for Bison Man, and in his case, I kept recasting spirits, just in case, plus obviously rehexing.
Last but not least, it's 12/12 Channeling/Communing, so any /Ri will do. Weapon sets are your friend, being able to switch to +15/-1 and back helps.
This is the only build you need people
Massive thanks to Dralspire for this build, finally managed to take our M Bison without even trying!
So far I've had no issues taking on any in the Norn Tourny using this build, even Razah who stands back and Spirits spams can be taken out using this.
Note for M Bison, make sure to only Hex him with Painful Bond AFTER he's used Purge Signet on Blind from Shadowsong. After that just stand back and watch him get beaten easily.
Just make sure to stand back so he continues to try and attack the spirits and not come after you.

Another build that seems quite effective:
Ursan Blessing
Any spirit (Winds works)
Ebon Escape
You really only need UB for most of them, but EE will make Magni a lot easier to survive. Might struggle to take down Mhenlo, though... haven't faced him with it yet.

Indeed thanks from me too. I had one previous (lucky) success in this tournament but nothing with real confidence or conviction (until now)
One very small thing to watch for is Little Thom's Breathe of Fire. stand away from the spirits or he takes all of them out in one hit. Not too big a problem as I found recasting vs. him works and kills him.
One other problem I found with this build is with Argo who uses Stoneflesh Aura - makes him harder to kill. No problems elsewhere at all. Even now unlocked Kahmu who was my biggest nemisis

Equipment: doesn't really matter, energy is most important though.
Usage: Once the gate lowers, step forward to the second metal bar on the ground. Cast Boon of Creation, Ritual Lord, Bloodsong, Pain, cast Fury on the Spirit of Blood Song, cast Bloodsong again, Shadowsong, Dissonance, then cast Painful bond on the target and run back a bit so they come to spirits, then let the spirits kill them. Works against all enemies although Magni the Bison may sometimes require a second casting of Shadowsong to keep him blind as he sometimes lives through the first Spirit of Shadowsong's duration. I died exactly three time in getting the crown, twice with Magni and once with Argo. Most of the time Ursan Blessing is not required. My Norn level at 2 or 3 at the most. This Tournament was made for Rt. Go just into the door before aggro starts, cast the 3 spirits move in with a YMLAD followed by Painful Bond followed by Doom. (Doom is a totally awesome spell)

Ursan Blessing, Ebon Vanguard Assassin Support, Summon Ice Imp.
I used these 3 on my warrior with r8 Norn, r7 Asuran, r5 Ebon Vanguard. Works well for me so far, killed everyone ive come up against even Magni, with a little kiting. Cast Ice Imp right after stepping thru the gate, then immediately cast assassin support, UB, then rush them. Haven't fought mhenlo yet, so cant say if it works against him.

Can beat just about everyone but Joko (never encountered Danika or the ghostly). How and/or where do you get a scythe with Ebon mod? I've played this game for a loooong time, and I have NEVER come across a scythe that had anything other than slash damage. Can beat just about everyone but Joko (never encountered Danika or the ghostly). How and/or where do you get a scythe with Ebon mod? I've played this game for a loooong time, and I have NEVER come across a scythe that had anything other than slash damage. Mallyx's Savagery or Bubahl's Grasp have them.

Find someplace that has a lot of dervish mobs and ID every scythe that drops. I don't think any of the damage type mods are rare, so you could probably get it on even a blue scythe. Or just go around towns with 'WTB Ebon Scythe Snathe' - no idea on the cost, though.

[skill]Burning Arrow[/skill][skill]Distracting Shot[/skill][skill]Concussion shot[/skill][skill]Pin down[/skill][skill]Needling shot[/skill]
[Unknown skill: sloth hunter's shot][skill]Apply poison[/skill][skill]Favorable Winds[/skill]
Usage:
Start by precasting favorable winds and apply poison before the gate goes down.
For most melee characters: Open with pin down. Then pound them with burning arrow and slothhunter shot while they slowly limp towards you. d-shot or c-shot their self-heal (according to whether it is a spell or not). Under 50% health, start pounding with needling shot. In the unlikely event they outlive the pin down or actually reach you, just pin down again, run away a bit, and repeat.
For casters: Using a longbow or flatbow, open with burning arrow, and queue c-shot while it's activating. Done properly at longbow/flatbow range, this should make sure that c-shot hits their first spell and dazes them. Fire regular arrows for a few shots to interrupt everything they've got as they cycle through their whole skillbar. Then switch to burning arrow and slothhunter, then needling to finish them off. (Start with regular arrows because, if you try to use burning/slothhunter before they've tried all their skills, they might slip a spell through during your long activation time - which can screw you if it's Kasai or Eve.)
For Tydus/Morgahn: You have superior damage, so just make sure to interrupt their heals to win. You might d-shot apply poison if they give you an easy opportunity.
For Bison: Once you're done precasting, move up to the door and run at Bison as soon as it drops. If you're quick you can get into longbow/flatbow range and hit bear form with d-shot. Regardless of whether or not you stopped bear form, you've just poisoned him so he will use purge sig. Once he uses it, hit him with pin down. Pepper him with burning arrow and slothhunter until he gets close to you, then run away and repeat. Reapply pin down when it wears off or after you fail to interrupt a purge. If he manages to purge while pin down is recharging, just run until it recharges - at most he will get in 1 hit while you're firing. Reapply apply poison only immediately after a pin down (you don't want to get caught applying poison when his crippled wears off). Don't bother recasting favorable winds. Needle under 50%.
Sometimes he will focus on favorable winds (which is behind a wall) or just lose aggro for awhile for no apparent reason. Take the opportunity to renew apply poison and pound him with damage. Wait until he starts coming towards you again to use pin down.
For Melonni/Kahmu: If you come running out of the gate, as you would for Bison, you can d-shot their forms. Don't pre-queue d-shot though, because they don't always use their forms immediately.

It's quite fun to play because most enemies do no real damage to you.

i killed him as he killed me lmfao and i still won hahaha Dervish Kid
anyone have good derv builds for it?

I just completed the Norn Tournament in a cakewalk as a Warrior with a variant of Dralspire's build -
Profession: any/Rt Attributes: 12 Communing, 12 Channeling [skill]Painful Bond[/skill][skill]Bloodsong[/skill][skill]Pain[/skill][skill]Anguish[/skill] Template: OQgjAyhjITGlVT+glTfTdiRb0gA Anguish may be swapped out for [skill=text]Dissonance[/skill] for interrupts. I went for straight damage and had no problems. Equipment: Given i did it with a Warrior and you need a bucketload of energy, Radiant Insignia on Armor, +20 energy staff (Alem's Remedy) and +15/-1 Ritualist Cane & + 27/-1 Communing Focus. Equip the Heart of the Norn title for a small health boost. Usage: Using the +20 staff drop all spirits in order between the doors of the arena. On a W/Rt i had 50 energy and can just manage the full spirit drop. Swap to the +42/-2 set and run to the centre of the arena. Use Summon Spirits, cast Painful Bond, cast Ursan's Blessing and attack. The battle should be over within 5 seconds, maybe 10 secs against Magni. The reason i use Summon Spirits is in case you come up against another Ritualist. If you drop your spirits in the doorway, and they do the same on the other side of the arena, you've lost the advantage and the fight is as good as done because your spirits are out of range. Ursan's is on the bar in case your spirits get taken out in an AoE attack and you need to do the work yourself. This happened on a few occasions on the way to beating the tourney 5 times to get the crown. While it doesn't happen often, Ursan is still on my bar permanently for the tournament. LouAl

if so, please post? My build is basically the same as the other mesmer builds. It works very well against everyone except Razah, who will destroy you (I haven't tested it against Joko or Danika, but it should work). [skill]signet of midnight[/skill][skill]empathy[/skill][skill]backfire[/skill][skill]ignorance[/skill][skill]ether feast[/skill][skill]spirit of failure[/skill][skill]diversion[/skill][skill]shatter enchantment[/skill] It is pretty easy to execute. Just empathy attackers and backfire casters (and some dervishes). Most will be dead before you know it (literally less than 15 seconds - 5 for casters). When you get to Bison, use Ignorance first to take care of Purge Sig, then Spirit of Failure (may work without it), Sig of Midnight, Empathy, and Ether Feast when needed (if he hits you). You can divert if you want, but it isn't really needed. If you accidentally drop Ignorance OR Sig of Midnight, you will die quickly, so keep them up. Bison should be dead in 30 seconds or so. The only other issues are pretty minor, but here you go: 1. When you fight anyone with P Drain, use SoF first to catch it and then backfire to kill them. 2. When you fight Warmaster Tydus, make sure to Sig of Midnight first and then cast empathy. When he starts to cast Troll, use Diversion. He'll be dead as soon as it wears off. 3. Shatter Enchant is only needed against Mhenlo. Mhenlo's skills are not correct on wiki.guildwars.com. He uses Mending also and I have never seen him use breeze. 4. When fighting Melonni, you can blind her and then wait for her form to wear off. Then, empathy and backfire and she is gone. 5. When fighting Zho/Onyx and Old Mac/Joe, use empathy on the person and Sig of midnight on the pet. The pets both carry interrupts. 6. Cynn will kill you if you just stand there. Put Backfire and empathy on her and then move right when she starts casting (so you are hopefully out of hte PBAoE when it hits). 7. Devona goes down faster if you divert Shadow Refuge. 8. Backfire Kahmu before anything else. He'll die before he gets to you. 9. Backfire Little Thom first, then Empathy since he casts first. You can do ~300 dmg right off. 10. Danika should be pretty easy, but I can't say for sure because I have never fought her with this build. It should be a matter of empathy her (or her minions) until she starts casting, and then backfire her into oblivion. Putting Sig of Midnight on one of the minions is probably best (hopefully it will keep them out of her heal area. 11. Joko also shouldn't be too hard, but I can't say for sure as I have never fought him with any build. My thought is that Sig of midnight on one minion to get rid of the dmg and health steal and then empathy them. If it really ends when you kill a minion (unless they fixed this) you should be done in no time. If not, kill the minions, then work on him. Razah will absolutely rip you to shreds. I am not sure what to do about it. It may be possible to switch out Spirit of Failure and Diversion with something that could make it possible and still allow you to kill Tydus (Tydus is the only fight where diversion is needed). Maybe Shatter Enchant could be substituted as well, but the replacements would need to take out Mhenlo because the rest of the build cannot without it. (btw, this is my second post after a loooong hiatus from the game and an even longer one from Guru...feels good to be back) Mark Nevermiss
[pain][vampirism][wanderlust][shadowsong][disenchantment][boon of creation][reversal of fortune][protective spirit]
Max communing around 8 in protection prayers the rest in spawning Even when Magni is not blinded, prot spirit + RoF > him Not one foe represents a challenge. If your opponent has AOE spells, such as Argo, then make sure to draw his attention away from the spirits. Hopefully he will be interrupted anyway. For Razah, who is a spirit spammer himself, use a longbow to pull him within your spirit range, whilst you stay safely without his. I have tried this tens of time with 0 failure. LouAl
I just tweaked my previous build a little (still only mesmer skills)
If you trade diversion and shatter enchant for spirit shackles and spiritual pain, you can dominate Razah and you are still able to beat Warmaster tydus. However, I am not sure about Mhenlo... Lopezus

This just saved me from pulling my hair out... I tried so many ele builds. Tried nuke, air spike with blind, water hex and kiting, earth tank, threw in some mesmer interupts and hexes... nothing worked! Any of the stronger defensive builds couldnt get past the earlier rounds (like Menlho). Or the high damage stuff would get owned by norgu or anyone with a pet... On the times that I did make it to the Bison guy, he would own me way too easy, I never really got him below 75% health. This Rt build owns...flat out. BOOM everyon dies so fast. With Bison you just lure him to the spirits then you kite out of the way and he attacks the spirits. BOOM hes dead and you never even got hit once. I didnt have the elite so I subbed in the sunspear title track Rt skill. Worked fine. Sparks Dawnbringer
I find Ebon Vanguard Assassin Support, You move like a Dwarf amd Summon Ruby Djinn my best skills to use here. Then I take 3 attack skills Signet of Rage, Spear of Light, and Bane Signet. and Orison of Healing and Healing Breeze. These will take care of most all of the firsrt 5 even Alesia and Menlo. But you must remember you cannot stand still and try and kill him you must run around some and stay away from him. The assassin and djinn will help keep him away from you then if need healing breeze will help if he hits you once run. It is most important to hit You move like a Dwarf as soon as it regens also the assassin by the second assassin you should have won.
I think these 3 Gwen skills are easily modified to other professions and would work even though I ran a Monk with no special runes Just one Sup Smiting and Vigor. This works with out all that 55 crap. centur

Actually you dont need any defence there If you carefully move out of the gate and gate not yet closed ( stay 1 pixel from the line =)) if you put spirits on the gate - they will be squished when gate closed) you can easily summon all spirits and your opponent wont attack you. Urn is for energy. Winning tactics - put all spirits and hex with Painfull bond. if your enemy cast something heavy - KD with Move like a Dwarf. But usually I do initial KD while all spirits in range and starts to hit, Wanderlast KD enemy second time because while he recovering from my KD - he isnt moving so its affected with Wanderlust. Usually enemy dies where i KDed him first time . As for Razah - just interrupt his first spirit with KD and put Wanderlust, then hex him and put spirits in usual order, and KD him as often as possible. You can survive (just take damage ) his 1-2 spirits if he get a chance to put them.
