End of Days: The retiring of your characters
Novalon
So I was just thinking about how GW2 is 150 years in the future, and it occurred to me that it would be unlikely that everyone's current characters would even be around.
So, what do your characters do after it's all over? I'll post a few of mine, and you can comment or add your own if you wish.
Arnold Schwrtznggr (Warrior): After basically doing all that there is to do, he wandered off in search of ways to better himself. After spending several years bettering himself through titles, he wrote a book entitled: "GET TO DA CHOPPA: How to manage aggro one squishy at a time".
Of course, based on the whole inheritance idea, one sweet thing would be a character that is based on several of your characters. Like my Male Warrior would hook up with my female Ranger, Assassin, Necro, Paragon, Ele, or Dervish.
Of course, my warrior is the best for me to comment on, my Monk, however...
Tirion Olorin: Gathered dust because he was forced to monk under a satellite connection. He was never the same since.

Mordakai
Well, if it turns out the story of the Charr conquering Ascalon while my character is still alive is true; I suspect she must have killed herself in shame.
Either that, or is addicted to Absinthe, and is living in the Crystal Desert "looking at all the pretty colors."

Hrrmn. Going with my Ascalonian characters first... and assuming I do actually go to GW2
Aeron (Me/E/N) will be fighting to the bitter end. If the destruction of Ascalon is indeed in her 'living' lifetime, she'll be in Asuran territory at the time, trying to gather some kind of weapon or magic to use against the Charr (after all, we helped you make the weapon to use against your mortal enemy you ungrateful brats...). Afterwards, she'll grow increasingly bitter, turning more towards the necromantic path over the elemental one. She may end up raising a family or taking on an Asuran apprentice, but either way her successors will be taught to hate the Charr.
Gwenyth (W/E) will be teaming up with Akhom (a Dervish) and... any other interested parties to estabolish a school teaching combat styles mixing weapons with elemental magic in the Ascalon Settlement in North Kryta, with many of the trainees likely to turn towards fighting the Charr (either in Ascalon or with the Ebon Vanguard, or to defend against raids). At some stage, she'll come across and adopt a Charr cub - which will eventually want to return to its own society. Any descendants of the Charr in question may or may not know of this piece of family history...
Gawain (Mo/R), being a priest of Melandru, will probably put some work into attempting to restore Ascalon, but will be called to join Ventari in studying and tending the Sylvari tree in Arbor Bay after its fall.
Second installment: Characters created at the start of Factions:
Manfred (N/Rt/Mo) returns to the Echovald Forest and throws himself into the war against the Luxons, taking great glee in sending the corpses of fallen Luxons against their friends and family until his retirement. Nearing his deathbed when Emperor Usoku's troops neared, he requested to be left behind when his settlement was evacuated to aid in delaying the troops, following in Naku's footsteps by sacrificing himself to create an army of minions to throw against the invaders. While it failed to break the Canthan army, it did slow them enough for the refugees to escape.
Elsa (R/Me/pretty much everything) turns her back on the Kurzick/Luxon conflict and joins with the Ebon Vanguard, aiding them in missions against the Charr and hunting game in the Shiverpeaks between sorties before settling in Kryta for her retirement, although she continues to live as a hunter and trapper providing small game and furs to the local community for some years afterwards.
Third installment: Characters created in response to new slots being introduced:
Tien Lung (E/Mo) enters the Mists and disappears.
Cassandra (Rt/Me) came to the realisation that a prophecy that if the Kurzicks and Luxons did not find peace then both would be destroyed was not referring to Shiro's machinations. Like her namesake in Greek mythology, however, she is on the whole disbelieved by both sides - however, while she fails to bring peace in time to resist Usoku's invasion, her efforts do allow her to make the contacts to arrange for some Kurzick settlements to be evacuated through the Jade Sea.
Hector (A/N), like Elsa, abandons the Kurzick/Luxon war. For a while he employed his talents as a mercenary assassin for the Ebon Vanguard against the Charr until the Order of Whispers began branching out of Elona, after which he became an agent of that organisation.

Hmm id like to think my character this way...
He goes to complain to Palawa Joko for cutting the Elon river off which leads to a war between Palawa and his undead army and Dorvan with his Sunspear comrades. (hes a legendary spearmarshal ) They have a huge fight in the gates of desolation where the defeated spirits of Ossa help Dorvan and the sunspears defeat Palawa Joko. But all goes bad as Dorvan and his Sunspears get killed and only a few sunspear survive since they escaped the battlefield. Dorvan was captured while most of sunspear died. He was then killed by Palawa Joko and his grave resides in the hall of monuments as a Legendary Spearmarshal of Elona . meanwhile Gwen and her ebon vanguard decide to win Ascalon back with the help of Pyre and King Adelbern. It was then they were losing and Adelberns magic killed Pyre, Gwen and the others. It was now a ghost city. Then my new GW2 character stumbles to the HoM where he finds all of Dorvan's belongings and the grave itself.
Well thts wot i think happened to my character

Vivi Malvagio (Ranger) : Hopelessly addicted to adventure, he never settled down. Along with his companion Enenion Shadowfoot (Assassin), he carried out adventure after adventure that took him all over and under Tyria. His final demise occurred when he was sent by Ascalon on a mission to the Corsair infested remains of Orr for items of power that may be of use in the battle against the Charr. No-one knows if he ever found anything, as his last of the status reports sent by his Rainbow Phoenix told of daily earthquakes, and dark shapes flitting beneath the waters. 3 days after the report was received, the... well, anyone who has read the spoilers elsewhere on the forum will know what happened, I don't want to spoiler it. Needless to say, those who knew him were sure he put up a damn good fight.
Falx Exsecrabilis (Dervish) : Became addicted to Norn feasts. Died of a massive heart attack 3 years later.

"The days of men and sword are over!" Spoke the oldest of the Norn, sitting barely half asleep, half awake by the blazing fire. The blizzard blew in fast, blew in hard and anything beyond ten feet was pure white. "What need of heroes now that even the Great Destroyer is sent to its demise?"
The carousing, ale-drinking Norn all laughed at this and clustered together around the fire, called together by Tyr the Skaald. An upstart, a daring human, was about to tell a story. A story of the Norn. All would agree that he had assisted the Norn, the Asura and the Ebon Vanguard in securing the peace of the Far Shiverpeaks, but that was long ago, and age had caught up to all of them. What need of heroes indeed in such an age?
"Me thinks this will be a tale of how the human managed to crawl from his baby clothing this morning!"
More laughter. Tyr the Skaald appeared from the deep winter blizzard. "Listen well, for this human will tell the tale of the Last Days of Gunnar's Hold!"
The Norn as a group stood, throwing their ale to the ground, swords and axes and hammers raised to the sky. "Outrageous! We will slaughter the lot of them who dare!"
Tyr smiled, laughed and beckoned them to sit. "So! The days of sword are over, heh?"
Gi Shin, the ritualist from Cantha, had stood silent the entire time the Norn threw their insults at him, staring into the blazing fire. He raised his hand high, and the sounds of Norn were vanquished instantly. "Bend your knee to hear my tale, brave Norn, for as Tyr said, this is a tale of how Gunnar's Hold falls!"
Some grumbling, but mostly intent listening.
"This is the Fall of Gunnar's Hold, but this is also the tale of how those bastards pay for throwing down this fine hearthstead!"
Again the Norn stood as one and their shouts of approval and cheers filled the whole of the valley beyond. Even the Jotuns that night slipped fearfully into their dark, cold warrens at such ferocity.
Gi Shin began the tale as all good Norn tales should start - ale-drinking, womanizing and an enemy whose breath smelled of brim . . ..
Gi Shin would tell many such tales throughout those years, always one eye on the ale, one eye on Jora and his mind on old adventures and old friends - heroes all who had thrown down undead, semi-undead, fire breathing beasties and even a deposed god. A time for heroes? All the time!

Nice thread, so here are some of mine:
Raziel Archer (Ranger, primary char.): Started expedition to the far ends of Magnnuma Jungle with some Mercenaries, never to be seen again...
Shadowblade Ivan (primary Assassin): Joined Kurzick monstery to find him self dead 15 years later after raid of Luxons.
Hellfire Ivan (secondary char.): Got a job in Celestial Monastery, burned half of the Kaigen City and himself with it. By accident.
Luinwe the Assassin (secondary Assassin): Joined Zaishen Elite. Lived there till her life came to an end in age of 67. At the time of her date she was in position of scribe.
Couldn't be bothered to write longer stories than this.

Necro/Ranger
Her work completed, her deeds done, Vanessa retired to Droknar's forge with her faithful companion Icky Icky the Black Widow spider. There she found a rarity, a human blacksmith learning the art of blacksmithing from the Dwarves before they disappeared. They owned a medium sized cylinder house and raised many children. Vanessa died at the old age of 108.

angmar_nite
Dark Lord nitemare, the lord of sunspears, savior of Ascalon and all Tyria, Elder of the Luxons, Conqueror of the darkest of foes, advisor to the Emperor of Cantha himself, finds himself desperately trying to salvage his order while defending against the advancing charr. In the final days of his life, he is summoned by the Luxons to fight one last great war. As the armies of the Empire of the Dragon closes in on the harvest temple, he, like the fell monster, unleashes all the power left in him. Lightning strikes down hundreds while the searing heat of a savannas burns the forest and boils the sea. Meteors cause tremendous tsunamis and earthquakes shatter the land.
Dark lord Crusader like his brother, fights to the bitter end. He and his best friends Koss and Goren stood next to Adelbern dropping heaps of dead Charr all around, until a swift arrows slew koss, goren immolated into ashes, and he himself was brought low by 3 swift shots from his onetime friend, Pyre.
Dark lady Mortis, did not get the honor of such glorious defeats. She was awaken one night in her dwelling in Cantha, by a legion of guards for the soul purpose of defeating her. After slaying many and summoning an army of undead so massive, so great, it had never been seeing before, she was brought low as the buildings collapsed around her.
The holy paragon, Dark Lord of Telum stood in the domain of a long dead foe, Rotscale, as he and his old tutor Morghan stood back to back slaying one centaur after another. Shouting noble cries such as "there is nothing to fear" and "Stand your ground," they fell many before the same meteor annihilates both in a flash.
Dark Lord of death was on one last mission; one that may very well be suicidal. The only one he ever failed. As he descended upon the fell Emperor a thousand arrows pierced his body, for he was betrayed by fallen sunspears who had made the journey to cantha.
Dark Lord Purgatory fell in battle as well. Standing over the dead bodies of the last of the Margonites, having hunted them down for many years, he turned around only to see his once mighty sunspears being devoured by an infinite army of undead. Gathering the strength of all gods, he enters a wrath and transforms into the avatar of Abaddon and slays thousands until his own fiery malice consumes himself.
The Canthan ritualist Dark Regicide stood alone back to the wall, surrounded by the bound spirits of Mallyx, the undead Lich, and Shiro. All of whom in his final act of power were bent to his will. This effort costed him his life, but the 3 demonic fiends crushed all of the Emperors finest, decimating half of kaineng city, as the spirits of the 3 were finally broken and spent.

Cerberus Blake - Continues to adventure across the world, and being a necromancer may have been able to extend his own life into the time of gw2, but somehow degrades to Level 1 again , or go into some sort of death-hibernation until the world's really fubar'd and he's needed again, and is awoken by the wave of Magical Awesomness(TM) created by the arrival of the dragons, smiles to himself, dusts off his cap sigs and gets ready to go...maybe.

The reference there is that in play Aeron started off as a Mesmer/Air Elementalist combination, but ended up picking up more and more Necromancer skills as time went on (half of them would have fit just as well in the Mesmer line anyway...) and I'm thinking that if GW2 has a similar profession structure, her inheritor will probably start of as a Me/N instead of a Me/E. The story above gives me a basis as to why her inheritors may be trained in that manner...
Should have the next intallment in a few days - I'm still just a little unsure as to what Hector's going to do.
Melajo
Ernst Harrowden, Mesmer (Indefinitely Incapacitated; status unknown) :
-Marries Menina Kavkhan after defeating the Great Destroyer. They have several children but fail to produce a son.*
-Fights in Ascalon for a while, fathers a son with Lyla Kavkhan.*
-Knocked into a magical coma after being exposed to the mysterious power of Drakkar Lake.
Ella Harrowden, Dervish (Undead, Eternal, Eternally Undead or something):
-Settled in Vabbi after defeating Abaddon. Since then she had started hearing whispers from her scythe, those whispers being the voices of the many soldiers and demons she slaughtered.
-Strikes a deal with Palawa Joko to silence the voices in her scythe, becoming one of the early Mordant Cresent knights.
-Her scythe was never silenced; Palawa merely made her unable to hear the shrieks of the dead that now roar twice as loud.
Menina Kavkhan, Elementalist (Thrown off a cliff) :
-Marries Ernst Harrowden right after the Great Destroyer's defeat. They have several children, but they're all girls.*
-Driven mad by the mysterious power of Drakkar lake while on expedition with Ernst, goes on a burning rampage for a few days before throwing herself into the Bottomless Pit of Jaga Moraine.
Lyla Kavkhan, Warrior (KIA, Spirit lives on in Ascalon City) :
-Returns to fight the Charr in Ascalon after the Great Destroyer's defeat. She leads several successful campaigns against them but falls in the final battle of Ascalon city. Her spirit fights on, called back by the power of Adelbern's Magdaer.
-Had a son with Ernst Harrowden while he fought in Ascalon.*
Naomi Nova, Ranger (Dies by old age) :
-Settles in the Maguuma Jungle, befriending a displaced Norn and an unusually humble Asura and starting up a lucrative tourguide business. She has twelve half-norn children with her Norn friend.*
Armand "Sergeant Sunshine" Nova, Paragon (KIA) :
-Fought along the Desolation's borders as Palawa Joko's forces began to pressure the Sunspears.
-Killed in action versus Palawa's Forces. A rogue dervish wearing broken sunspear insignia ambushed his squad, and none were spared. The wounds on the bodies were said to scream in agony if one listened closely enough. Evidence shows Sergeant Sunshine fought back and was able to wound the assailant, but ultimately met the same fate as his men.
Mandingo Florence, Ritualist (Afflicted and disposed of accordingly) :
-Lived his life as a spiritual medium for the Canthan military. He eventually retired and faded into obscurity. However, exposure to an old momento of the time of the plague caused him to contract it; he is cut down by the Canthan Guard after a 4-month killing spree.
Christina Florence, Elementalist (Dies by old age) :
-Joined the Xunlai Guild after the Great Destroyer was defeated and stationed in Kryta.
Mana Marmalade, Monk (Indefinitely Incapacitated; status unknown) :
-Assigned by Monastary Monks to care for the comatose Ernst Harrowden.
-Somehow concieved 3 children during her time caring for Ernst, even though there were no other people around.*
-Her exposure to Ernst's Coma eventually causes her to succumb to it as well.
*Might make a descendant in GW2 based off this.

Celadriel
My main character, Celadriel Cel, an elementalist, is chased to the mountains after hitting repeatedly on Cynn. There his mind and body is inflicted great pain due to unhealthy life-expanding experiments. Mountain Wurms becomes his friends and allies though he secretly eats them. Eventually the wurms see the connection between the human's arrival and their own suddenly decrease of numbers, and he escapes down to the Asuran territories.
The Asura respects him in spite of his hate towards them, until he attacks an Asuran orphanage. Once again he is forced to escape, and hides away in a small settlement in Arbor Bay.
He witnesses the birth of the Sylvari, and, with his experience in magic and prominent role in the latest events of the world, becomes the idol for a few of them. Realizing his influence over these selected young Sylvari, he starts acting as a father role for them. He convinces them to live after his selfish ideals, and they are slowly corrupted. Eventually he takes on a major role in destroying the peace of this refugee, and is killed in the following conflicts.
However this somehow manages to give me the opportunity of creating his Sylvari descendants in GW2

Bergil
here's what I can think of
Bergil Sunfyre went back to Ascalon, and helped tbecame a leader in the fight against the Charr. When he heard of Adelburn's plan to make Ascalon City uninhabitable, he was so disgusted that he defected, bringing the Charr information enough to drive the Ascalonians back into the besiegrd Ascalon City, and so unintentionally bringing about Adelburn's plan. He lived out the rest of his days among the Charr, and his adopted children kept the Sunfyre name (which already sounded Charr-like). (Feanor Sunfyre is going to be one of my characters in Guild Wars Two)
Emmet Bloodhawk (Sangbuteo, in the original Canthan, but he always went by Bloodhawk) became the assassin trainer at Shing Jea Monastary, and remained a supporter of the Luxons. When Emperor Usoku began his conquests, the now-aging Emmet was a one of his most high-profile critics, so Usoku arranged for him to die of natural causes. However, it is rumored that he has descendants among the Norn. (Bowsarr Sangbutorr Munesson is going to be one of my characters in Guild Wars Two)
Gnaisf the Screamer retired from the Sunspears and wrote several books on philosophy, including Self-Fulfilling Prophecies, Popular Opinion-The Greatest Weapon Of All, and The Gods By Mortal Standards. They weren't big hits with the average man on the street (see chapter 17 of Popular Opinion), but had a lot of influence with artists, Asurae, and other lunatics. He scrammed out of Elona before Palawa Joko expanded to Istan, realizing that it was an unwinnable battle. (Karm the Gnaisfian is going to be one of my characters in Guild Wars Two)

Zelyoniy
Jericho McFall, who dawned the family title of the Zelyoniy Ranger (the traditional defender of the Ascalon foothills) spent his entire adult life in combat. Raised under the principles of the McFall clan to protect his family, his hamlet, his country, and his race, the Zelyoniy Ranger spent his life fighting the Charr, leading refugees to the lands of Kryta, thwarting the plans of the undead advisor of Orr, slaying the unnamable Canthan betrayer, vanquishing an ancient god, and defeating a Dwarven god. After the revolutionary events of the Destroyer War, the still-young Jericho spent his time sabataging Charr forces bent on destroying his homeland, and maintaining healthy relations with the other races.
When Jericho heard reports of Mantle remnants amassing to destroy the Ascalon refugee camp in Kryta, he immediately traveled to the fledgling town alone to meet with Shining Blade aid. After a 3 day battle, the camp stood, and Jericho with it. Before he left to continue the fight in the north, he caught the eyes of a beautiful Shinging Blade warrior named Delila. At last, the free spirited Ranger was subdued, and married Delila on the D' Alessia Seabord 2 months later.
Fighters at heart, Jericho and Delila fought in the Charr homelands, and dared to build a home on the northwest fringes of the region. 5 years later, Delila gave birth to a boy, who was named Jack McFall. When young Jack was a boy, Jericho brought him to the ruins of Ascalon and promised him that one day, this land would regrow, and the McFall family and the other Ascalonians WILL rule supreme here again.
Jericho passed the torch and dubbed Jack, Zelyoniy Ranger at the age of 14. He continued to fight the Charr and any other threat to the people of Tyria, Cantha, and Elona until he could fight no more. Frail and weak, the elder Jericho lay on his deathbed. He made a request to have his ashes spread on the Ascalon Foothills. He made Jack one final request to his grown son, to defend Ascalon to the end and to never forget the promise that one day, the Ascalonians will reclaim their beautiful, green lands. He told his wife and son how much he loved them, then quietly and peacefully faded away with them by his side.
Jack obeyed his father and passed on the torch. 250 years after the Destroyer War, a young Jedidiah McFall takes on the mantle of Zelyoniy Ranger and steps up to defend Fort Ebonhawke and the remnants of humanity, determined to fulfill a family prophecy of salvation.
Woowee that was long. xD

This is a really interesting thread and I wish to provide my own obituary for my Warrior tomorrow.
Ankara Nightsear: Tired and exhausted from amassing a huge amount wealth from saving the world four times over, Ankara was last seen venturing off to the Underworld, to beseech Grenth for a position as an Envoy. No word about her status have been heard for a month, many have gone searching for her only to follow the same fate as Ankara; missing.
Many decades have passed since that day, Tyria still lay in conflict. Though, rumors have spread like wildfire that the missing hero of Tyria has been seen. But, this figure moves with unnaturally agility and dexterity has left deep gorges in the land with pools of blood and mutilated corpses in her wake. Many have tried to halt her massarce, but all have fallen to her flashing blades. It is said that anyone that lays eyes on her die in a matter of seconds, sliced to ribbons.
Although, one person survived. A little girl, only nine years old who had been kidnapped by a band of slavetraders. The girl and her captors had made camp near a shimmering lake in the Maguuma Jungle. The Moon hung in the clear night canopy, naked. A fire was made, the smoke touching the heavens. Birds and other animals could be heard from the dense forest behind them. The little girl had been tied to an ancient tree whose trunk was a wide as two Aatxes adjacent to one another.
Only the girl noticed the moon flashed crimson for a split second. A spine-chilling breeze passed through the small camp, snuffing the fire. The camp was doused with darkness. The few slavetraders who were awake bolted up and awaken their slumbering friends.
All noise vanished, save for the hurried breaths of the captors and the crunch of the grass of someone coming. The girl struggled against her bindings, but they were too tight, too strong. The nearest captor slapped her and whispered for her to shut it. Whispers among the slavetraders were rapidly being exchanged as the crunch of the grass came closer. A rasped breathe was heard behind their camp towards the forest and they all froze. Blood drained from their faces as a female figure with dulled gold Gladiator armor approached. The figure's face was hidden by the shadow of the jungle, her right arm slack but her right hand clutched tightly to a wingblade which was plastered with congealed blood. Gold. Her golden hair floated through the air as if a gentle breeze passed her only. Pale was skin, but not quite like the moon. Splatter of clotted blood decorated her midsection and thighs, her entire left arm was caked in the crimson substance. As the figure approached within two meters of the nearest stunned captor, the moonlight chased away the shadows concealing the figure's face, revealing another splatter of dry blood across her lips to her left cheek. All eyes drifted to her eyes and shivers ran down their spines, some even soiled themselves. Piercing silvery-blue eyes stared at them, these ethereal eyes surveyed the camp, from the bound little girl at the tree to the number of captors then to the moon. She smiled, the corners of her crimson lips pulled upward.
One brave soul among them broke the silence, "...w-wh-who are y-you...?". She parted her lips minutely, "the hero....", still maintaining that smile. His face contorted into surprise as them all. Some exchanged whispers, others turned even paler. Another spoke, "b-b-but t-that's im-impossible! Y-you've been g-gone for 80 years!". The corners of lips rose even further up at this. "hasss it?".
I'll cut to chase...
She murders all the slavetraders and unties the girl and just leaves with only a warning for the girl, to never cross Ankara's path again.
It seems she is alive but not dead, something undead. A vampire. She stalks the land for blood.

My female necro should marry Palawa Joko, but not to queen the world for ever in some celestial clime... It is in the dark shadows were mortals find power and immortality, haha!
My warrior will die in Vloxen Excavations, run over by a rock he could not evade due to being too fat...

After the Great Destroyer was well...destroyed
Lord Raikage goes back to cantha and helps repair Kaineng City. Not long after he goes to Elona to try and help Vabbi and Kourna get strong again. About 10 years after this the Master of Whispers asks Lord Raikage to become a high ranking member of the order to help protect the lands.

MarlinBackna
Interesting thread. Here is my characters' stories:
Mortium Exercitus ~ Rt ~ He began to spend much time with Ventari and his tree, finding his new order a model for the world. Due to certain spiritual renewing processes, Mort accelerated the growth of the tree while keeping himself alive for over 50 more years (he was already 100). He dies peacefully and welcomes Grenth with open arms.
Psi Lent ~ A ~ He worked as a mercenary for many years, eventually return to Cantha to aid in the war of unification for the Emperor. He was always opposed to the forever belligerent Luxon/Kurizick factions and was finally glad to see both fall, bearing witness to both the battles at Cavalon and House zu Heltzer. He dies a quick death at the hand of Lukas in the Battle for Lutgardis Observatory.
Zeis Van Woade ~ D ~ He wandered for many years on all the continents, only to return to Elona after the destruction of Vabbi. Devasted by this loss, he led a brave constituant of Sunspears into the heart of the Desolation, only to be destroyed Jowo's massive army of undead Margonites guarding the Bone Palace. His spirit, however, has been sighted all over the place....constantly running....but from who?
Jugs Mcgee ~ P ~ She marries Kahmu and settles in Gunnar's Hold. She moves further north when the Norn move south and helps found a new settlement above the great lake, which quickly grows into a massive port city. She dies in relative peace, forlorn about her old, adventuring days.
And finally, my main....
Marlin Backna ~ W ~ Marlin, well known to people on every continent, becomes the creator of the Order of Truth, a group dedicated to Kormir and for protecting the innocent. Fighting alongside the Zaishen Order and the Order of Wispers in all three continents, Marlin finally departs the Order in the hands of his adopted son, Maeron Backna. Marlin then devotes himself to exploration by first developing a better seafearing vehicle, a ship that converts light into energy, and then going west in the Great Sea, never to be seen again. Supposedly, he now is the right-hand-man for Kormir and is a Judge of the Dead for his deeds that went unmentioned in a continent far away from Tyria, his home.

Ludo
The ranger Tomas groaned in fury and pain as the Charr spear pierced his back. "You motherf...." he muttered with his dying gasp. He prayed that his descendents would finish the job that he had started, and failed.
Many decades later his soul was pulled through the mists and he watched in confusion as a small, elfish being raided his stash of treasures. "What the hell is this?" he said. The Sylvari cluthed his bow and gave him an impish smile and Tomas vowed to forsake Tyria forver. "The Gods have gone crazy".

Toutatis
All my characters share the first name Deus, so I'll just use their surnames to identify each of them
Toutatis (Mesmer):
Not long after the defeat of the Great Destroyer, Toutatis gave up the life of a hero and became an opera singer. After several years of very successful performances, he choked to death while gorging himself on one of Bokka's famous free buffets at an afterparty.
Antagonist (Ritualist):
Crushed to death in the Vloxen Excavations while doing an impersonation of Indiana Jones. Frequently summoned into combat by other Ritualists, as a Spirit of Stupidity (each attack made by his spirit inflicts dazed, insanity and delusions of invulnerability).
Taranis (Monk):
Despite the numerous catastrophes that have endangered the safety and continued existence of Tyria over the last few years, he has still maintained an undying faith in the gods. After retiring from adventuring, he reopened the monastery on Sanctum Cay as a training ground for the art of smiting prayers; primarily to refresh and retrain healbots who were getting fed up with keeping wammos standing. Apparently, Dwayna didn't like the idea and promptly struck him down with a bolt of divine lightning.
Belenos (Paragon):
Traded in his spear and shield for a pair of scissors and a vertical pole; working as a hairdresser by day and a go-go dancer by night. He knows Balthazar is probably covering his eyes and denying that this incredibly flamboyant individual was ever one of his followers, although Lyssa and Belenos agree; the change of pace is absolutely faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaabulous!
Boukenger (Dervish):
Continued his travels around the world, searching for rare and exotic treasures. He went missing while investigating a previously unexplored section of the Depths, though the odds of him being dead are extremely slim.
Shadowblade (Assassin):
Met a somewhat grisly end while executing a contract; a routine shadowstep turned into a fatal error of judgement when he rematerialised partially inside his target. Both he and his mark were killed instantly, leaving a single corpse with two heads, three arms and four legs.
Draconis (Warrior):
Took up a job working as a taxi between Lion's Arch and the Henge of Denravi. Stabbed to death during a road rage incident involving another taxi from a rival company.

Dodo The Extinct
Faulkner Swiftspell: Shortly after his adventurous quests of awesomeness, he realizes that Guild Wars doesn't have a Santa Clause . So he buys tons of candy, gets really fat, and travels the world on Wintersday, giving presents to all of the good characters. His sleigh is made of Candycanes and he uses Rollerbeatles as reindeer. The head rollerbeatle is Greased Lightning. His workshop ends up being located in Sorrow's Furnace, and he uses the Stone Summit as elves (at first they didn't like it, but now they turn into little helpers) ^_^
PS: He hits on Gwen, and she ends up being Mrs. Clause

KalleDamos
Here it is, how all nine of my characters retire. Dig it yo!
Kalle Damos(necromancer): After seeing the world, saving it thrice, and killing his fair share of creatures, he settles down in asuran teritory. Even in his old age is capible of killing things with his powers, any corpses he came across he began to expiment on. Later had several scrolls and tomes about his works put into the great libraries of Kryta before his death. Never married.
Ark Stormwalker(Ranger): After saving Tyria from disaster so many times, focus his attenton to the jade sea itself. Being born half Luxon, half canthan, he feels a duity to his people of the jade sea. He takes up the fight against the kurzick people, raiding their settlments, and earning great respect on both sides. Eventaully settles down with a nice luxon girl, and has a couple kids to which he passes his legacy of greatness amoung the luxon.
Aka Yaiba(assassin): After the death of Shiro, and the evnts up north he went back to his home amoung the streets of Cantha. His skills gain attenion of the Jade Brotherhood, Am Fah and the Obesidan Flame, he works as a blade for hire till he has enough gold to go back to Shing Jea and open his own training school for assassins. Does eventually settle down and has a kid, to whom he passes on Shiro's blades.
Cyrus Wyvern(warrior): Humble beginins brought this farm hand turned warrior to the greatness that brought him victory in Cantha and beyond. With the world in seeming peace, he goes home. Back to Shing Jea, back to the life he once knew. Back to when a work out was plowing the feilds, not plowing through the feild of battle. Takes care of the Family farm, and settles down to have a family of his own. His greatness never forgotten, for his old armor is still incased in his room, the sword and sheild at its feet.
Darious Silverwind(Paragon): With the 'death' of Abbadon, and the world slowly falling back to normal he turns his sights not to his home in Vabbi, but to the calling from Istan. Someone had to take up the banner for Kormir. For awhile he was a spearmarshal that Kormir would have been proud to call her succsesor. But he grew tired of it, and let the possestion fall to another. He then went on to teach new recruits, and to tell tales of Nightfall to his children as bedtime stories, his wife always near.
Sai Rae(Monk): after the death of the Lich and the events of the norh, Sai returned back to Ascalon, his true home. Though still in ruins, he stayed and helped as many people as he possibly could. When the Charr were pushing farther and farther south Sai, like Rurik before him, lead expiditons over the mountains to the Ascalon settlement in Kryta. He settled down as one of the settlement healers, marrying a Krytan woman who had taken his fancy when he first came to Lion's Arch.
Willim Break(Mesmer): His talents for illusions and bending the mind made him a well known mesmer, but after his hero days were done, he and several other heros he knew from the shing jea monestary formed a travling troupe. they travaled all of Tyria, from Vabbi to Droknar's Forge, preforming for the people. Married a young mesmer woman in his troupe, went to father two daughters.
Zale Windwaker(Dervish): Like Cyrus, Zale came from humble beginins. A fisherman's son. So like his father and three brothers he went into the family fishing bussiness, till that bored him and once again he went to wander. He began once more to wander through the desolation, and even north into the Crystal desert, to lead travlers safely through and to offer words of wisdom. It is believed that he did have a wife and child at one point, but it is not fully known. He lost touch with his hero friends when he ventured into the crystal desert.
Atticus Elrick(Elementalist): After taking his father's merchant bussiness over and making enough money to retire far younger then he ever figured, Atticus spent the rest of his days amoung the streets of Cantha, not a pesent, not a rich nobel, but a man of greath wealth, great heart and great power. Moving into an area he never really left after he married and had his three daughters and two sons, he funded public projects to better Cantha and make it a better place. He watched over the distric and no Jade Brotherhood, Am Fah or any rouge guilds or forces dare step in there with evil on their minds, less they be struck down by atticus before they even saw the bispecticaled man.

Jin Hwoarang - Assassin
After a full life of accumulating every title from every corner of every continent, the still young Jin decided to go out with a bang before crushing senility invaded his life. He foraged through northern Tyria into the Charr homelands, intending to go out taking as many accursed Charr with him as possible. However, after many a bloody battle, Jin, having become the most practiced and skillful user of the Shadow Arts in the history of said arts, was unscathed even by the mass hordes of brutal Charr. After continuing his one-man rampage through Charr territory, Jin realized that the fighting spirit was too great within him to let him die of anything but crippling senility, and he retired near the age of 40 to Shing Jea Monastery to invest in the next generation of Assassins. While there, he continued to make a hefty income by speaking at Assassin seminars and hosting field trips to mainland Cantha, as well as enjoying a hearty sensual life with all of the impressionable young females at the Monastery looking for an older man and a hero at that. He finally settled down into cohabitation with a few of his former companions and lived out the rest of his days in erotic, wealthy, fame, as the icon of greatness for young students to follow after.
Aule Illuvatar - Elementalist
The ever-wise Aule, after helping to defeat both Shiro and the wicked Abaddon, also decided to retire to Shing Jea Monastery and teach. His approach, more conventional and "stable" than Jin's, was looked upon favorably by his supervisors and eventually got him promoted to Master Aule, head of the entire Monastery. While his in-class lectures tended to bore students, his demonstrations and training activities were always favorites and enticed new students to learn the trade. During his time of Presidency at the Monastery, his beautiful companion Areiya Fatalis returned to the monastery after charting every known continent and making a fortune selling comprehensive and wonderfully drawn maps. The two married, and although she continued to travel periodically, enjoyed a vibrant relationship for the rest of their lives.
Dove Erta Ale - Dervish
Dove, being a lifelong nationalist to Istan, assisted in the defeat of Abaddon before becoming a simple, low-lying, and humble priest. Though he always maintained his stylish blond fauxhawk, he was a well respected scholar who learned a great many things covering many topics before leaving for an unknown mountainous region in Kourna to join a small monastical order.
Neviim Shekhinah - Monk
Neviim, a prophet so divinely inspired and blessed that he never died in all of his travels, assisted in the defeat of Shiro before travelling Cantha and Tyria. Neviim became a social worker, assisting in the rebuilding of Ascalon City before retiring there, where he usually sat in a corner alone telling children of his many tales.
Syvarri Theracus - Ranger
The ever-angry Syvarri rampaged through Tyria, helping to save the world from the horrors of the Lich and making quite a few enemies on the way. His utterly bad-ass persona made him distant to humans but for some reason very enticing to animals. After adventuring in the Northern Shiverpeaks for some time and basing himself at the Eye of the North, Syvarri wandered off into the wilderness leaving the Eye of the North with his middle finger proudly raised high. Presumably, he lived out the rest of his days with various forest creatures tending to his every need.
Bleary Nightfall - Necromancer
Bleary, who was never an outcast in the normal world but never quite felt right, dedicated himself to the service of Grenth, which took him around various parts of the world and the Underworld. An ever-loyal servant, Bleary still accomplishes Grenth's biddings, traveling between the surface and the depths, enjoying longevity and eternal strength as a blessing for his dedicated service. Lore has it that Bleary appeared behind Jin Hwoarang during Jin's initial invasion of the Charr homelands at the Iron Citadel followed by a dark army of undead minions and dark shadowy spirits. To this day, when dark ransoms must be fulfilled, evil masters mightily dealt with, or bad children punished, Bleary's presence can still be felt as a burden in the darkness.
Shaar Shekhinah - Monk
The father of Neviim, Shaar Shekhinah achieved the title Legendary Defender of Ascalon which he proudly displayed until the Searing. After assisting in the defeat of the Lich, Shaar joined his son in Ascalon City where he lived out the remainder of his days as an iconic fighter and religious leader.
Pneuma Facio - Ritualist
After his training at Shing Jea Monastery, Pneuma pretty much disappeared. His attunement to the spirit realm caused him instability in the physical plane, and he dedicated his days to meditation and enhancing his understanding of the spiritual. While he was never really traceable even in his younger life, he became even more separate from the physical world when he dedicated his life and afterlife to Lyssa's service.
Sachael Arcana - Paragon
He always looked so good. After defeating Abaddon, Sachael became a male model whose repartoir (sp?) included everything from swimsuits to coats to watches to underwear. When he became too old for professional modeling, he began a dance studio in Vabbi and made a fortune teaching people of all ages how to get down.

Cataclysm
Amy the Asskicker: A fearless warrior, Amy died during one of the final battles with the Charr before Ascalon was taken. Although her sisters advised her to come with them to Kryta and plan a counterattack on the beasts, she led a suicide mission to buy time and fought to the bitter end. The slayer of many Charr, hated and feared by them, there was no mercy for her when she and the last remaining Ascalonians made their final stand in order to delay their advance and allow an organized retreat. She fought for Ascalon and the hope of restoring the kingdom to its former glory. Her love for the people and her sacrifice for them will not be forgotten. She remains an inspiration to many refugees who owe their lives to that group of Ascalonians who stood and fought in order to buy them time.
Amy the Abhorred: A powerful necromancer, Amy the Abhorred stood by her sister during the Second Charr Invasion. Amy the Abhorred was leading an organized retreat of the Ascalonians with the hope of fighting again another day when Amy the Asskicker was slain. Amy the Abhorred, overcome with grief and guilt for abandoning her sister (Who had chosen to stand and fight on her own free will), turned and tried to fight her way to her sister's corpse, lest it be defiled by the Charr. However, she was soon surrounded. She placed herself under a Death Nova enchantment, blew up her sister's body taking several Charr down, and charged, with a small army of minions, into the strongest group of Charr invaders. Her fate is unknown, although it is possible her minions created enough havoc to allow her to escape. Several Charr storytellers speak of a ghostly entity who wanders that fateful battlefield, cursing itself and the Charr. All attempts by the Charr to remove the battlefield of this apparition through normal ghost-hunting methods fail, and any attempts to confront the entity in person usually end in death for the unlucky warband charged with doing so.
Amy the Accurate: Unlike her sisters, Amy the Accurate did not choose to fight to the last breath. However, she is no coward. The joined several other Ascalonian heroes and headed towards Kryta to plan a counterattack on the Charr. When it became apparent that there was no possibility of reclaiming Ascalon she became more quiet and reclusive. She began having nightmares, reliving that final battle as she shot from upon the cliffs and watched helplessly as her eldest sister was felled by a poisonous Charr arrow, and her other sister made her final stand before being engulfed in a storm of Charr and undead. Eventually, she disappeared leaving a note with one word: Revenge. For several months thereafter reports emerged that the Charr were terrified of an unknown ranger who, in the dead of night, would sneak into their camps and poison two Charr hunters- always poison and always just two. It is still unconfirmed whether this unknown ranger is Amy the Accurate, but recently a group of Ebon Vanguard ambushed a Charr camp that that very night had been hit by the mysterious ranger. The corpses of the rangers hadn't been buried yet and bore a symbol- 3 intertwined letter As carved into their chest.

Darkside
I'd imagine my Dervish Valshara retiring to Vabbi (my favorite area of nf) to live out the rest of her days in peace and perhaps train the next generation of Dervish warriors. Sometime during this retirement Palawa Joko begins his second invasion of Vabbi (suppose to happen during the 250 year period between GWEN and GW2 according to current information about the game). During this invasion she comes out of her retirement to face the undead army. Though wise and experienced in combat she has become weak and frail. Still she makes an impact on the battlefield cutting down many undead foes...but in the end I see all her allies lying dead on the battlefield. Using the last of her mystic energy she transforms into the image of the godess Lyssa (the avatar i use most in game) and charges into a pack of undead outnumbered she is eventually defeat. As she lay dieing Palawa approches and she signals him to come closer. He leans over her broken body to listen to her last words and in a final defiant act she uses Eternal Aura...killing the surrounding mob that defeated her and severly injuring Palawa at the same time. Her sacrifice would slow down Palawa's advance and give the rest of the Elonian provinces time to prepare their defenses.

Melian Tunavail R
After leveling the Lich Lord, slaying Shiro, annihilating Abaddon, and ravaging the Great Destroyer, Melian began a hunt around the world. She vanquished many lands and received many titles. Many years later, she retired to her home land of Ascalon where she began an one woman quest to slay all Charr. She waylaid many Charr warbands using a combination of traps and magic completely decimated them. After years and nearly 10,000 Charr slain, the great Charr general Pyre Fierceshot finally cornered her in a ravine with over 500 troops. Regretting slaying his old friend whom he helped slay the Great Destroyer with, Pyre parleyed with Melian offering her freedom to travel to Cantha or Elona if she laid down her arms and surrendered. Melian merely used the peace offering to spring her greatest trap ever, a trap that cost her life, but killed every single Charr in the ravine. Even 250 years later, any Charr that enters Melian's ravine is never heard from again.
Laura Cherubium E
After her exploits to save all of Tyria, Cantha, and Elona, Laura was held in high esteem across the globe. Retiring temporally from the hero's lifestyle she took up a luxurious mansion on the now melting Jade Sea. However, when she heard of Palawa Joko's uprising in Elona, she picked up her ancient staff and rejoined the sunspears as a spearmarshal. After many battles, Laura and her band of companions, Laura's Wings, had halted some of the spread of Joko's malignancy and rescued numerous civilians in Vabbi when Joko attacked that province. Eventually however Joko's own gaze was drawn towards in lust, in an epic battle Laura seared whole regions of the Desolation into glass as Palawa sought to kidnap her. Finally after all of her companions had been slaughtered and then reanimated to do Joko's bidding, Laura gave her companions their freedom by freely turning herself over to Joko for her companions' freedom to depart safely into the Mists. Joko accepted her offer, but after successfully binding her, he savagely slaughtered her, rekindled her life force bound to his will. This necrotic process metamorphed her into an eternally beautiful but dammed succubus of Joko's desire. She is always conscious of the atrocity's she commits, but is helpless in Joko's will. Finally to further enslave her, Joko demonically bound Laura's companions to her; thus, Joko's Pinions were born.

they set about trying to think of ways to kill the emporer , if they could kill Shiro , if the lich could fall at haras hands , if abaddons fell at a fireball and the great destroyer was halted , surely an emporer wouldn't be too much trouble . they knew what they had to do , they needed a way to Kamadan , and with the recent Tidal wave hitting Lions Arch and the rise of the kingdom of orr , it would be an unwise descision to go there , they seeked the help of the order of Whispers .
it was hard escaping Cantha , they killed many along the way , doing deeds that would be unforgivable under normal circumstances , but there was nothing normal about a dictator in charge of everything . but through money , blackmail and killing they made their way to the marketplace .the exiled , the drunks were around , the secruity was tight , they would not manage here .
so they went slightly south of the marketplace , just slightly north of Nahpui Quarter . Hara found a small boat , which they would attempt to sail the ocean in .
the journey was rocky , the boat flooded and many fell ill during the journey . however , in the end they made it , and Hara made contact with the former organisation which helped him take down abaddon . they appeared busy , with Palawa Joko on the loose again , but agreed to help . the journey back to cantha was uneventful , a few strong winds but nothing to stop them . and spirits were high , they had many of the order of whispers with them , many luxons and many kurzicks to take down an emporer. they arrived in Kaineng docks , which was suprisingly quiet. soon enough , Kaineng Centre was stormed and Raisu palace was being breached. the people were killed for crimes against cantha , it was brutal , bloodthirsty what happened , but it was for the greater good , it had to happen . the imperial sanctum was soon metres away and there sat the emporer , with many rituals binding him to life . in a desperate attempt to kill him , Hara ran in , ending his life and that of the emporer .
many years later , haras great great grandson , another talented elementalist was training in Kryta , much had changed since those flood waters , and Kryta was slowly recovering , but soon this young boy would have to take on many of the challenges that his great great grandfather had to , some more terrifying , and by far more challenging..
Emporer Usoku successor to Kisu, took a firm hold of his nation. He raised the Canthan military, spending millions in gold to arm his troops, and then swept the countryside. He soon took armies of such force that the luxons couldn't hold . Luxons and Kurzicks allied , in an attempt to hold them back , but it wasn't enough , and Hara and Count zu heltzer went into exile , in a place known as " the deep".

My characters are as eternal as the very memory of humankid... not a lot... but enough to survive even the end of days...
When the world of Tyria collapses, they'll just go somewhere else.
