New Update!

I think what it meant was you don't get points per enemy killed, but you get points after every 25 enemies.

Great update all around Anet!!! And some people say you do not listen to people...time to go find some Bots, they are not to hard to find.
Corwin_Andros
The reporting system can also be used to report bots, scammers, bad names, or inappropriate in-game behavior. I guess griefing and leeching are considered a PVP-only problem. Kinda makes sense in a way, since those are competitive, timed matches, and PVE can be restarted at will most of the time.
I don't think there would be any issue though about reporting outrageous behavior that is the PVE equivalent to griefing and leeching.
I just hope it doesn't get too abused and they drop the idea.

The rank 8 thing means, even though you do *not* get faction/promotion points anymore, you get a different blessing which gives you the morale boosts/25 killed. There was a lot of folks who didnt like that they had worked hard and acchieved what should be a desireable thing (the current 'max' in dwarven title) but now they can't get anything from the dungeon shrines points *or* effects. This update makes it so they will get something if not promotion points. It's a good fix.

OMG I love anet. really awesome update now, pvp will be a hell lot better now =D
Phantom Gun
All around a good update in my opinion. I'm a little worried about the /report option though. Not because i'm afraid of getting reported if I do something that is against the actual rules, but getting reported by f-tards that just think it'll be fun to report random people, or whoever they might get owned by in pvp, etc etc. I guess we got nothing to worry about if they actualy investigate all of these reports. Which will be very time consuming depending on how many people use this.

Punishing people who falsely report get these Dishonor points? And you need 1/3 of group to achieve it? (Note to ArenaNet; You can't take 1/3 of 4 or 8 evenly) So that's 2 players in a RA match and 3 players in a FA match. If that many people on your team is spending that much time reporting, your team has bigger problems than leechers. And, of course, when someone gets punished for correctly reporting a leecher, but since no one else reports the leecher, there will be mass whining. Also, I can't wait to see the 4 man AB guild group who reports everyone. I'd offer a comparison to WoW's reporting system...but I'd be flamed mercilessly for even suggesting it. |
PLEASE LEARN TO READ CAREFULLY.
You cant just go around reporting anyone you want for anything you want. You get dishonor points for falsely reporting people and then the whole thing backfires against you. The system is good. The system is smart. I like it and it MUST stay. First really important thing Anet did in a long time. Thank you Anet for listening to people like me who constantly complain.

i dont think the /report command will do to much, but i really hope it does. and its very nice to see anet finally doing something, worth while, about those leechers.

I just want to know one thing, can I do this;

I can finally report Koss. For something, I haven't decided what yet.

I really don't like what they did to the glad point sysytem. What I liked about glad title is that glad points weren't farmable like hero points and everything else. I feel that ANET is cheapening PvP. If people wants glad points they should put the same amount of time and effort that the people who already hold these titles do, IMO.

I have a feeling the report system will get abused far too much in the next few days but give it a week and it should be fine... I do see people reporting for :
-OMG you suck! Use a better build! (PvP & PvE PUGs)... I like to test stupid builds and mess around so no PUGs for me that's for sure... PvP people will just have to suffer me though ahah
-I bet that guy was a bot because he is using a 55monk and he has no clan... it doesn't matter that I have no proof : report report report
-Hey guys, let's all report this guy because he doesn't want to help me or run me... I'll get my guild to report him too so he can't PvP for a long time!
*edit*

Getting Glad points is still very long, and anyone wanting to get it needs to put a lot of time in... rank 1 = 4 times more than before just to give you an idea
and they multiplied the title track by 6 for people who have them already. It's a fair update

/report Arenanet - Hi Anet, it's me. Nice update. I hope this doesn't automatically give you dishonor points.

It's not "PvP only", since you "can?" report bots... or did I read something wrong (haven't played Guild Wars since GWEN came out, so I'm LOST)

oh....report command is recognized now (doesn't report an unknown command) but it's not active yet. I tried reporting a spammer (a true SPAMMER...in every sense of the word) in Kamadan but I got no response or dialog boxes at all when using the command. This was before I re-read the updates and noticed it's only going to be active for the weekend (ie not yet).
yeah it'll be abused by some...but I expect those who do will find they will get their accounts suspended/banned if they continue to do it. Just hope they don't abuse it too much this weekend and convince the devs not to reimplement it.
It'll be much more useful for reporting the degenerates of the Guild Wars world than the support site ever was.

Well actually...My team had already lost a match (3 of us was down...1 was about half health) so I naturally left so I could go back in quicker. I error the next game and when I log back on, I get slapped with that wonderful hex

When the duration of the Dishonorable status has expired, characters on that account may once again join PvP missions.
To clear dishonor points from an account, a player must go 60 minutes without accumulating any new dishonor points.

lol. I love how everyone was like, " OMG the leavers and leechers are so bad... Anet needs to do something". So they do and people are like, "Well what if I get d/c or if I am to impatient to wait for my teammates to die and I leave". Is there nothing that will make you people happy?
I would much rather suck it up and deal with a temporary ban because I got d/c, then to deal with leavers all of the time. And even if you want to argue otherwise, then at the very least you should offer a better, feasible solution. If you can't do that then you have no right to complain about Anet's attempt at fixing the problem.

It is perfectly normal that people are quite sceptical about the /report feature, because it's a bold change trying to address a fundamental and difficult problem. It is in essence subjective to categorise characters (remember the thread on the guy who got banned because he was actually playing "like a bot", repeating stuff over and over again?) so there's no way you're going to easily kick the "bad guys" out of the game.
One can wonder what the system can achieve, as this is very dependent on the community, if a majority of people use it cautiously but also in sync (that's the "quota" rule) this can have tremendous positive impact on the GW world. It reminds me of many reputation systems put in place in various forums, which generally improve the situation, though this takes some time. And Anet's design of the feature seems subtil enough to prevent all sorts of common attacks.
If the community is disciplined, this can transform the game into something absolutely brilliant!
And gg for the other updates, that's a lot of work from the devs that will translate to a smoother experience for us!

Sounds like a great update to me. Don't think it will be abused too much as you're going to want your team to play. only people crying are leechers or those who like to cry... for the rest of us it's too early to say one or the other but it looks good.
wolfwing
Idling out in a battle won't get you banned from PVP, you get 5 points for idling and takes 10 points to be banned for a time. If your being idled/booted that many times it's a problem then you probably shouldn't be playing PVP in the first place.
MoldyRiceFrenzy
its kinda funny how anet thought that by socializing glad pts would help ppl the more "common" ppl achieve, and glad ranks and dwell more into pvp... lets c what really happened:
rank 1 = r3... that is a big difference,
r3 --> r4 ... so basically im only 1 rank behind r1 now?
because u cant leave when its pretty sure ur group is going to lose, instead of a battle taking 30 sec to 2 minutes, it now takes 5-12 minutes.
kinda funny when u get a group with 4 monks on accident, o well, cant leave? dihonors system, dang... to bad for both teams. and itll still take the same amt of time to finish the game rather than have a runner. and btw, i doubt the monk team will leave because they will have the feeling of beating the other team, which is what normally happens... it just goes until timer ends...
so, so far today, almost all my games have tooken 2-5x longer than they should have been... thanks for giving me 1 glad pt every 20-30 minutes b4 update, and now 1 glad pt every 20-30 minute after update too, except with higher restrictions..?
the dishonor system is really a big piece of bull to me. in my opinion, its just another thing that was a good idea, but ended up /failing horribly. ty anet for making ra an even bigger waste of time than it was b4 when u lose at round 10.

Ok, this Dishonorable shit is horrible.
Reasons why:
1, Bad people on your team - you can not leave.
2, Your team will obviously lose - you can not leave.
3, 10 Seconds of waiting at the end of every match - which you can not leave from.
So; if you also agree this system is terrible, do this:
Make a PvP Only Monk
Equip 5 Superior Runes
Run this bar: [Dishonor;OwUTEsGD3QkLBEAAAAAAAAA]
If enough people do this; clearly they need to have the report feature accept reports on people being terrible at this game.

You need to be reported in multiple matches before you are banned.
If you are reported by 2 people in RA, you'll get 4points, so that's being reported in 2-3 random games before you get banned for 10-12mins.
I reckon it is quite fair because it is random, and unless you're at RA all day, you won't be seeing the same faces repeatedly.
As for AB, the spectre of 4 people reporting everyone else can be quite alarming. Especially since they as a group, are quite likely to repeatedly meet the same other people over a certain period of time.
However, if they are busy standing there reporting 8 other people, they'll probably look suspiciously like leechers. Get ready for a lot of tit-for-tat reporting.
I think after the first wave of report griefing, it should normalize. There's only THAT much fun that can be gotten out of reporting innocent people (or so I hope.)
PvE characters can always go do some farming for 60mins or something, but PvP only characters might be a bit shafted here.
On balance, I think it's a better situation than before. It's not great, but I doubt anyone can come up with a great solution.
