Dishonorable Combatant System = Mega Fail * 10^10
Toxage
The Dishonorable Combatant System (Which will now be referred to as DCS) is a horrible addition to Guild Wars.
The DCS will place a dishonorable hex on you after you receive 10 reports from other players on your account once your PvP match is over. The problem with this system is that Arena Net doesn't check these reports. How do I know this? I was reported multiple times by the the most retarded things and was punished by the dishonorable hex for these things. If Arena Net checks these things then they would obviously notice that I was in fact not doing anything wrong.
Some of the weird things I was reported for:
-Someone claimed Price Of Failure was a retarded skill that serves no purpose. I responded and I quote "Price of Failure is good for shutting down melee characters." Then he/she reports me for verbal abuse.
-I had to answer the door so I typed quick in team chat AFK - UPS At Door, I come back to find I had been reported multiple times. I was gone for a minute tops, I just walked to door, opened it, signed form, close door, walk back to computer.
-My name A was reported for being offensive. I whispered the player asking why and was told that I was elitist and my name makes fun of other players for not being good at game.
I was punished for the above actions. Apparently I did something wrong…. o.O
My problems with the DCS.
1) Arena Net doesn’t check the reports. (I was reported for stupid things and punished)
2) There is a large gray area with the DCS. If someone hasn’t moved for a couple minutes and you report them for leeching and they come back, what happens to you? Do you get in trouble for abusing the report feature? Same thing with the inappropriate name feature. Something you believe is inappropriate might not be inappropriate to someone else.

Ok..full story, please.
Someone reporting you for this "Price of Failure is good for shutting down melee characters." isn't going to happen.

Well, I've seen like 2 people be reported for leeching after they lost connection with the server, I even lost connection for maybe 1-2 minutes, no telling how many reports I got, so yeah, who knows how it will turn out.

IMO we need something like this in place, but like all things it's going to take a little time to work out right.

Not only during match, but even afterwards. Apparently, I was the laughing stock of PvP community for bringing this to RA.
But this was long time ago, 1+ years, so perhaps the skill got changed in between, or something. It has its uses, although probably not by itself, but in combination with something else.
All I can say, never underestimate what some people find reason for dispute. Even so - saying: "lol nub, POF is anti-melee" IS NOT reason for /report. You can choose to make a ticket, but not /report.

I just had an experience with the system too. I joined an alliance battle and ran up to the gate with the rest of my team. However, there was a /stuck problem of some kind and the server thought i hadn't moved at all and was still on the spawn point. The battle hadn't even started yet and I was chatting with teammates. About 10 seconds before the battle started, the message popped up [my character's name here] has been reported for leeching. About 10 seconds later, a few more messages pop up reporting other people on my team for leeching. I didn't send a single report, but a couple report happy people on the team caused us to have 10/12 players reported for leeching.
I think however that there is something in place for this. I noticed that I wasn't getting faction at the start of the battle when enemies were killed. Somehow however, about halfway through the match, after at least half of our team had already been reported, I started gaining faction again.
Anyways, there needs to be a higher percentage of people required for reporting. Also, I think that it should display who reported what team member and then other team members (not the one that was reported) should be able to send a "false reporting" report which cancels out the original report if there is enough support.

Sometimes, it takes well after the match has began to be able to move. It's quite possible that you never noticed it before if you were with random people, and they hand't alerted you at that specifically.
After moving, you'll get rubberbanded back, sometimes not - but others may see you as standing at the starting point. The longest I've experienced this was 15+ seconds after the match has started.
The only solution or detection of this I could find out was to use mouse walking. If you're stuck on server, clicking elsewhere will not move you.
But yes, this is a quite common bug that had me worried with regard to the system as well.

Well while I agree with the concept, the result is too flawed to be using at this point. This system is too black and white. It’s not just “Being reported,” GW knows when you’ve left a match early, even if your whole team is dead, you must wait for GW to return you from the arena to the main area.
And yes, I do agree with the concept even though it has completely ruined RA for me.

I wonder, if someone reports you, and you were doing nothing out of the ordinary that would warrent a report. Can't you just report that person as well for making false reports. Does it tell you who reported you?
If not, you could ask I guess, or just report everyone on your team. 50 reports a day is too many, should be more like 10 reports a day, this way it would cut down on abuse, players would have to only use them when absolutly nessassary.

Please give the system a few days and let us hear your positive and constructive feedback. Some of the claims of "I was punished" I know are not true. It's really easy to have a .04 second delay in connecting and figure "The system blocked me!"
Let's get some real feedback, not knee-jerk reactions. Sure, if you get a block on your account, let us know that via the Support system. But please don't post anecdotal comments without having worked with the system, because it's too easy to say "Yeah, and my grandmother was blocked for two weeks for botting, and she doesn't even have a computer!"
(Forgive me, I'm not making light of those who have had problems. But I'm betting my bottom dollar that there are far fewer than some people want you to believe.)

Yes, but in order to do that you're going to have to get the mesmer with healing breeze, the sin with no secondary and no guild, and the W/Mo using mending and "Charge" to resign with you as well, assuming they are aware of the /resign command.

This wasn't me having a couple seconds of lag... This way me getting that ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Umm.... look at the screenshot and read my my first post? Basic reading skills here....
I have worked with the system, which is why I am making this thread because the system has many problems/flaws and just is just overall complete crap with no thought but into it.... I find it interesting that World Of Warcraft adds a player report system and then Guild Wars adds a player report system very similar to World Of Warcraft's the very next day... MMMMMM

"Due to your cowardice or selfish conduct"? So i'm a coward if I leave after i've lost or if none of my team connects?
That description is a big pile of steaming shite!

I just typed some stuff on the irc, think I'll summarize it here...
Basically, the system is way too abusable.
As it is now, you can enter Random Arena's with your monk, and get reported by a W/Mo who barges in and gets himself killed within 3 seconds. Why? Because you're behaving badly according to him. Of course you could report him back, but... there's 4 people in a team, and if the team loses, some people just want someone to blame, often the monk. So whilst you have 1 certain vote in your favor, the W/Mo could easily get 2 or even all 3 votes from the team to /report you.
Or, you leave a big guild on bad terms. Mass /reports from vengeful people and you're banned.
My quick suggestion whipped up in spontaneously was: Lower the /report cap for people to be used from 50 to 5 per day.
People should get tempbanned when at least 10 reports are in within 2 days. Of which a minimum of 5 per day of which the reported person has been logged on. By different people, multiple reports from 1 person AND guild should be counted as 1 report in the grand total.
Someone immediately claimed it could be too complicated, but perhaps that's for the best. Most people know how easy it is to abuse, and that's what they do right now. You wouldn't want to have a little child dictating the law if he doesn't even know civilian rights, eh? That child will act as the victim against anyone who's acting 'superior' (let's say, adults, not arrogant people) and set people up against you.
Or you just walk down the street because you feel like it, and you accidentally bump into a little girl who drops her ice cream and freaks out.. If there'd be a DCS in real life like there is in GW, you'd get tagged as a pedo in an instant.

I don't understand why I'm being punished for leaving when someone left earlier making a 2 or 3 man team. Why would I want to play 2/3 vs 4?
Shadis
The system is highly abuseable. Arena.net would be well-served to scrap it until they can work out these issues. How they even let it go live in such a state is beyond me.
Everyone could've told you that it would be abused to no end and look, it's happening.

Lol, some of you people are so childish. I have played RA quite a lot since the update, and not once have I used report, had it used against me, or had it used on anyone in any match I have played.
Unless you are looking for fights, there is actually little reason to use the report button.
And even if by some chance some bored user reports you, nothing will happen, as a report gives you 2 dishonor points, and it takes 10 of them prevent you from entering. Unless of course you also leave matches before they end.. in which case, this is exactly the reason why the system was implemented in the first place..
I think most of the complainers on this thread are simply trying to exaggerate on how to abuse the system, because they don't like the fact that they can't leave until they get the perfect team, or can't leech to earn to earn fame.
Dishonorable Combatant System = Mega WIN * 10^10
Great job Anet! I thank you, and judging by the sharp increase in the number of districts in the Arenas, I'd say that most of the community thanks you too.

I agree with Gaile 100%. Give this time and let it work. There is an old saying around here, where I live, that if everyone were required to carry a locked and loaded .45 - well, in just a few bloody years the courtesy levels would all improve.
The report function is a minor variation of that practice. Now that all of us are loaded with the weapon against discourtesy, we will begin weeding out those who are not mature enough to play or teach them how to be mature.
This change by ANet increases my likelihood of playing in PvP a great deal, even the competitive areas and AB.

Lord Beramus
The report system is negative and only negative for the game, because this is a game and supposed to provide a good time, so I must have the right to quit or leave a team whenever I don't have fun anymore without punishment.
This is the greatest failure of an idea the dev team ever had.
Of course this is my personal opinion but according to that opinion a game company that dosen't repsect my freedom of choice to quit whenever I want is not worth any more money spent in any game that creates.
Between waste 10 minutes from my time as a punishment because i quit from a team that didn't provide any interest or fun for me, or never play this game again, rest assured i will always choose the second one.

And this is why I don't do RA anymore. Even when testing builds for a bit of fun. Nor do I so willingly do PVE pugs. :-\ Too much sillyness for me to handle.

I'm not even going to read this thread... but this entire system is doomed to abuse in its current format.
The amount of times I've been in a pug and seen someone being abused just because they're not as experience/not wearing the correct armour/not running the flavour of the month build..
Like all Anet's initial solutions: this is beta and I feel it will will cause more harm than worth in its current format.

I HATE this system. It's a piece of CRAP.
How could anet even think that the gw community is mature enough to handle this new system??
I was in RA and left after everyone had DIED and some dumbasses reported me and guess what? Now I can't pvp.
I say screw this system. No matter how long the system has been in place there will always be 12 years olds and other idiots reporting ppl for the littlest things.

Anet cant affort in-game gamemasters.... ILL DO IT FOR FREE! Every single town/outpost/AB/RA/TA match i go to there is blatant racism and offensive material. All they need are some quality ingame GM's. Thats it. Anet could have countless people signing up to do this for free.

This system is stupid. Abuse it by playing noob skill bars in RA. It is in the best interest for EVERYONE to exploit this and prove to Anet it's the stupidest idea they've ever come up with.
