OMG! This thing is actually still around??? I thought this was just the same stupid thread whine people usually participate in when Anet does something bad. I thought it had left with the report system.
After over a week of ABs, RAs and TAing occasionally, the only 2 times I've gotten the hex was the first day when I intentionally left 2 groups to see it...
AND JUST NOW AFTER INTENTIONALLY LEAVING TWO GROUPS TO SEE IT!
The detractors seriously needs to STFU (sry for being rude, but this is just sad!). Over a week of playing regularly, leaving groups that I just flat out knew were going to be horribad and staying with groups that had a fair chance...and the only way I even got the GORAM HEX WAS WHEN I ACTUALLY TRIED TO!
If you follow the rules, this system works seamlessly. You can still leave groups that are going to flop on their behinds. You can still leave RA to GvG or HA when your guild calls with no effect. Just try and behave...and YOU'LL NEVER EVEN SEE THE DARN THING!
@ the six players whose game I ruined for no really good reason: sry. At all the other players who I've left over the course of the last week: opps!

antheus's quotes on me did not correlate with what i was trying to say -.-
1. i dont ta because id have to get a team. u can get a nub team ez, but thats even worse than a nub team in ra because then u gota compete with non-nub teams. second if u decide to go with an experienced group, more is expected and often times u need ts/vent(cant use). i dont like ta for these reasons.
as i said i dont mind playing with nubz(which u said that in ta u dont need to get nubz or can choose or w/e. lol wtf, it doesn't correlate with the point).
with ominclasm, i believe the time it takes for a game to end with 2-3-4 monks is actually max... the only way we lose is if we get a team smart enough to either all resign(never happens) or if everyone dies on purpose. but in ra, u get ALOT of those people that want to fight to the end. the the only real catalyst to get this working nicely is if somone leaves, then at least it can cause a chain for ppl to give up, but ppl who leave are punished so...
the only reason ppl are not getting the dishonor is because no one wants it... of course. i dont know about u guys but i hate playing team over team where theres no escape. (like being in a zombie dream where u cant get out of lol)
neways...the real combat of RA has not changed, it seems like everyone thinks it has, but the pt is that now people can't leave when one team is completely overpowered yet overdefended of the next team. so the other team gets lotsa chances to use their attacks on them for the next 8 to 12 minutes. fun. until u have to do it over... and over... and by the time u finish one game, u could have already completed 3-4.

Melody is right. You ussually only get the hex if your constantly leaving/rejoining in hopes of a "more balanced" team. Which, if you want that, you either need to go to TA or HA. RA is for random stupidity and having fun when your Guild isnt on to TA/HA/whatever. Not for Gladpoint farming / "Spike" players.

You play RA to grind your personal rank. The fact that other people are involved is a huge annoyance, since you cannot compete. So you rely on fighting against subpar team.
PvP is about competition. If you want to grind, there's PvE.
And this is exactly why the system works flawlessly. It removes people who do not play RA for any kind of competitive aspects. Even worse, those that define human participation as a nuisance - which is very counter-productive when talking about pvp.
If you talk about nubz, you are free to prove yourself in TA. But talking about nubz and insisting on RA doesn't prove anything. RA never was in any way related to skill. So nub in RA doesn't mean anything.

ur a socialist , i hate u
i accidently screwed up my quote alittle, but meh
ur saying that trying to get a title is not being competitive?
lol kinda funny how u ppl that to mix stuff around, with good and bad and hope it sounds nice in the end, just get to the pt plz.
how am i saying human participation is a nuisance? my main theme is that when u know a team is going to fail, its going to fail... im not some person who wants perfect teams or nething, hell ill go with ne team that works, but sadly not every team works. its just the way things are. u know a team of 4 heal monks i doomed, yet u condem me for saying that we should not wait til max time because we are then not participating?? wtf? what is counter productive to pvp? I guess anet tries to make this big theme about experience being something... well, when you have a 12 -8 min match(god forbid u learn so much from ra) that does absolutely nothing- that is not giving u experience at all. when u have a match that both teams actually are forced to fight and each team has potential to hurt the other, then its experience. why would fighting a team that has no potential whatsoever be productive?
i talk about nubz as a universal concept once again... ra of course doesnt relate with skill to much, but come on, ppl know that a 55 monk isnt productive or a sin with only heals 1 attack and shadow form isnt helpful...
ta is a waste of time to me because all the groups i go with are either worse than the ra ppl, or require u to have ts/vent which i dont... and the only really nice time where it is somewhat useful is when i have friends, but they're not on every second of the day, so im pretty much forced into ra. ha = lag, gvg = only when friends on once again. ab = lag + gets old... hb = boring for me. pve = fun, but kinda goes in cycles from fun to boring. ra is the only really quick thing i can think of...

But speaking as an admin for one forum, mod for another 3 and Server admin for about 15 HL2DM and CSS servers I can tell you straight up and honest I have done so countless times. There are such things as rules and moral conduct. For example we have the rules of no personal insults, no pornography and no racism on all the servers/forums I admin. Im a pretty lenient type of guy and will give at least one warning to allow the player to stop and say sorry or whatever, but if it then carrys on or is even directed to me after that then I will happily press the permaban button without a second thought apart from "damn, I will have to take time post this crap on the forums incase said idiot turns up and tries to refute his ban". I dont care if its his twisted imagination that sais its his personal view and everyone should hear him say someone is a ni**er or not.
To the topic of the /report system.. its a theoretically perfect way to let the community police itself.... but only theoretically. I think the best way to fix it is to lower the report cap from 50 to 5 and to have a way for someone to be able to retract their report while still in a match (for the laggers to get a lot less hastle) maybe with higher punishments for sucessfully punished (1 day instead of 1 hour or something). This would make reporting more accurate because people could only use it 5 times a day and it would be more precious incase you get a real leacher later on.

Couldn't disagree more. the dishonorable hex works. It does have flaws true, meaning it needs to DETECT the event and compensate for abusive behavior.
Basically using it as a flag to trigger a general check of logs for key events or words and punish accordingly... Obviously if the others just a re being pissy because they brought a skill someone else does not like Well thats kinda dumb.
I got a reported for using Amity and the whamos were pissed cause no one would attack with an aoe... So they just spiked them off 1 at a time...
What I mean is the frustration factor with a player that playes is not a report offense.. However EVEN if it is reported the penalty is minimal. This is a small price to pay to get the PvP community to become more suitable for an average player to participate in. If it get overtly abusive it will just go to serve to destroy it further then it was prior to the system. So I look at it like this. If the PvPers abuse the tool and destroy their part of the game for people to participate in. it will not be long before these same people are complaining that now one is playing PvP anymore... And whose fault will that be? Yep the very people abusing the system.
I look at it like this. The hex is a marginal punishment that does not last long... I can live with such a thing if it means we get new people on occasion in PvP... If its nothing but the same old same old group of disrespectful potty mouthed 9 yr olds, that bitch at every non cookie cutter build that people try out in RA or AB, It will soon end up that all that is left is whamos, Iway, Shadow Touch, or other straight from web builds... Where will the innovation and experimentation be then? Hell I have won many a match in AB with SS barbs for crying out loud. all because no one on their team had a hex removal. and they were all cursing my name and calling me out saying I suck and such. If those people grief on the report system for them sucking... well thats just sad.

Main problem with the /report system is teams will be tempted to all report a player if he/she does horribly bad. I wouldnt be surprised to see the mending wammo's and R/E firestormers being reported as leechers in full force.
While I find that funny and dont mind it at all since it may actually teach them a lesson and lead to them ( hopefully ) becoming better and moving on to HA/TA, I dont think Anet would want that since the entire reason behind most of these changes is to help casual gamers.

Ok noone has replied to this topic for quite some time and i would like to bump it and add my 2 cents. The Revamp has been long overdue for the DCS. I think it needs to be a ton more severe.
Right now it sits at 1 point= 1 minute. Are you serious this is a joke, so you accrue 10 points what you have to sit out for 10 mins, OHHH WELLLLLLLLLL. guess what when its done you go back in and do it again, the next time its 15, anyone else see the joke in this. There are reall jerks out there and while RAing, HAing, and ABing i have noticed the same people doing it over and over again, just up and leaving.
PLEASE make it harsher. Up it to maybe 10 mins for every point and it take you more time to remove a point. There are a TOn of leavers and leechers and if you think not then you obviously dont even watch your own game.

I love the report system I use it all the time. Nothing funnier than listening to people whine and lie about why they got banned from PVP for awhile in general chat. lol

The point to places like RA and AB is you get what you get, if you want coordination then try to coordinate with people you know in guild or people you know are not noobs. I mean isnt coordination what you do in TA, HA and gvg. Besides from personal experience if you have one capping team In Ab i know you can save the match if all the rest are not so blessed with brains to know what to do. As per random arena deal with what you get, hence the name RANDOM. But yeah the system should be reworked and make it much harsher. yeah crap happens and sometimes you DC but live with it, if your DCing that much, enought to acrue that many dishonour points then maybe PVP is not for you.
daba
Yeah make it harsher haha. RA experience: while I am reading things on the net, back to gw and hit enter, switch to reading, back to game check team => use one skill and go suicide with auto-attack, back to reading, rinse and repeat. I never get dc points, sometimes one guy reports me (others don't) and he gets a few DC points lol. DCS was a fun addition to RA.

Not going to read the entire topic, here's my problems with the dishonorable system.
So what if you get 1 or 2 reports when you're afk for something urgent in real life. It's not like it's going to kill you. I dont get why people sometimes overreact to it.
If you have a team of 8, say in fort aspenwood or jade quarry, and more than 4 are leeching, which sometimes isnt that uncommon, it seems to come and go, then you can't even report them all without punishing yourself. So the person reporting gets screwed.
Another thing, the punishment is laughable. Yes, laughable. At first 10 minutes of dishonorable hex? Oh noes. Someone who specialises in leeching or botting has made it a point to not play the game. So a punishment where they can't play the game is hardly going to demotivate them. Players have actually given up on using the report function because it does absolutely nothing. This causes people that DO report, to get the dishonorable points themselves as well, since you need the majority of the team to report so you don't also get dishonorable points. I understand how this is a failsafe from abuse by individual people, but it also punishes the few people that do think it works.
I think in some places, like AB or JQ and FA, your final reward should be proportional to your contribution. Hard to say how this would work, but perhaps a timer of some sort. Every moment you're not not giving any input on your mouse/keyboard and/or being a certain distance away from any relevant action, NPC's or other players, a timer goes off. You can't see it, but it's there.
And then at the end when you get the reward for the mission, the percentage of time you were essentially useless, you get detracted that percentage from the final score. Of course this wouldn't work on cleverly made bots, or in certain areas like RA. Things like a standoff, where both sides are reluctant to attack, that wouldn't work very well. So maybe the timer could be very lenient, like having a margin of a few minutes before it starts to deduct points.
Something else, increase the balthasar and alliance faction for every individual kill, but make is so that if you weren't even in any way related to the team making the kill, such as outside of radar range for example, you don't get any points.
The thing is, leechers in these arena's that I talked about get the same reward as the people who actually play. If you change it so that leeching isn't rewarding, it will stop.
Obviously it's not a perfect system, Im more thinking out loud. It's a little lame to have criticism but not offer anything constructive of your own in return, imo.
