Personally, I've never gone for endgame armour, prestige certainly, but endgame has always had the dual problem of hassle and not actually being very appealing.

And of course I didn't complain as hard. No campaign has featured only endgame armour before and none of the previous campaigns were last in the series.

When a campaign is over for me, the character is mothballed and brought out only on occasion. I do have 10 character slots to play with, afterall.

Oh and just to add...

Why the hell can't I? Why is my play style so unworthy of anything these days?

GWEN's armor certainly is not "only endgame." It's very easy to get just by playing the missions, but it's also very possible to get your hands on before completing them. I had my Vanguard set way before I was done, for example. I don't think your claim holds water here.

In my opinion, it would be safe to consider this the exception rather than the rule.

As far as I could tell, it was farm or finish (actually the last time I played GW:EN it was farm *A LOT* or finish & then farm some). I certainly finished almost all quests in the Norn area on only rank 3.

What I'm basically getting from you is the stance that endgame armor is useless. Yet, that's a subjective and personal statement, and there is quite the number of people who enjoy this setup - needing to "do your adventurer duty" and then get a reward for it. I don't understand why armor sets can't be included in that reward. Even after completing GWEN, I enjoy running around in some of the armor sets I got.

I understand that this doesn't work for you if you stop playing with your characters, but how many players are in that situation?

How many people would buy new armor anyway just to quit playing that character?

I agree - it gives you something to work for and that was Anets take on it. It gives you something to do till the next GW release.

It's worth pointing out that finishing a hero book and finishing GWEN are two completely different things. The VAST bulk of GWEN's gameplay isn't in the main plot at all, it's the dungeons and off-main quests.
