Well, it wasnt always that way, of course. There's a filtering effect in place where most, almost all, of the more seasoned players are not in today's average PUGs where in days past of course they were. There were always one or two of the players like this you mention, but the play of the other 6-7 members made up for it. I understand the argument you're making, but I do find it a shame that there is no going back of more experienced players into a PUG setting to help others out and to have fun, since the more that leave PUG play for good, the worse it gets. It feeds upon its own demise.
Oh and by the way, no one even remotely musing on the concept was meaning to or is forcing any particular play style upon anyone else. The OP's idea was a weekend event, not permanent. Even knowing it would never happen, one can afford to lighten up a little.
It really was fun sometimes to have full player teams doing things and succeeding and I cannot remember the last time I experienced that regularly - somewhere back in Factions. I drop into PUGs now and again for the fun of it, but like you say, its not quite the same, and its soon back to H/H or a friend+6. I suppose I had too many good experiences in PUGs up until NF. So many others dont seem to have that. Too bad. Heroes are workign just fine now as it is in terms of getting things done. Its just different.
