Who here uses PvX WiKi builds?
Legends
I use it a lot, usually stealing ideas from other peoples builds.
I'm not a very bright person when It comes to creating builds, so PvX Wiki can substitute for me .

I do, but I am new so I must rely on the experience of others for now and will determine my own builds later, but I am sure whatever I determine is the best will have already been done by someone who has played 3 years.

I use them for ideas mainly to get ideas for how i want to shape a build up, especially if its a class im not really up to scratch on (/eyeballs Monks and Ele's)
Even for classes I know reasonably well I will still open 15-20 build tabs and just read over them incase i see something ive missed . I'm not infallible and its turned up the odd lightbulb moment

For someone like me who couldn't care less about pondering the tactical interrelationships between skills and the effectiveness of the combinations, PVX is a godsent. Most of my heroes use PVX builds, but my Paragon (they only character I play on) has my own build that would probably be flamed to death if I ever posted it.
Whatever works.

I probably use something similar to pvx wiki but i personally do not copy/paste template and start using them... i look on there for ideas and tweak to my liking.

I don't really visit PvXwiki, but I do see it get brought up alot in Aspenwood/AB.....home of the creative snowflakes.
I have nothing against it, it's a fine starting place for some. People seem to whine the most when they keep getting killed by a good build that happens to be on wiki. I was running a standard Dev hammer bar in FA and some random guy decides that im an "uncreative wiki user". I asked him if he could kindly send me a non-wiki'd hammer build that doesn't suck. Of course he never did but we still had a little chat about wiki and builds in general - just about every good build out there that exists is gonna be on wiki. Even if it's not the exact thing, there's still gonna be some type of variant of it. After a while his tone changed to "you're good but uncreative".....and this was comin from someone using an SF build with some other random skills so it would look "creative" u_u
People that try too hard to be unique end up embarassing themselves. There's nothin wrong with wiki.

For my farming build, yes. not for the rest of the builds tho.
Lest121
I use it for Farming ONLY.
dunky_g
No.
Because I'm not retarded at coming up with some ideas of my own.
And the most common farms are well known enough that you shouldnt need PVX to help, just ask a friend if your really stuck.

Yup, I try them, if they don't work I don't use them if they do I do. I mainly use it because I don't have time (due to work schedule) to sit and think of new builds.
*shrug* Guess I'm one of the retards, kinda proud of that in a weird way

I look at them, laugh, and move on. Fun for a few laughs every week or so. Most are idiotic, 80% are just plain stupid, 80% of the remaining 20% are mundane and have better variations, and the other 4% are.... well... ok I guess, but a veteran player can still make better builds. There are maybe, and I do mean MAYBE, 3-4 very good builds on PvX, and those are the builds that are the core of GW (Shock Axe, Dom mesmer, HA RC monk, etc) I would say 10-12 of the builds are CORE builds that are the best option to use except in niche situations, but I don't count those as PvX builds. Those are veteran builds that just happen to be posted. 99% of the builds people have come up with that are not core builds on PvX suck so hard, you would think they were Dysons....
The forth fly
use it to get farming builds but thats it,just been playing AB looks like people use it alot.do all sins use the same build? seems that way
Monk In The Box
I use it as a tool to get farming builds and vanquishing builds.
Monkey Slayer
I use it. But only to get good builds for my heroes, and when I need to pick up an easy farm build that you could pretty much get anywhere. 90% of the time the builds are crap and are broken in one way or another.
EDIT: And also, I'm still pretty new to the game, and I'm not TOO sure of how skills work, and which skills synergize.

Turtle222
I do both. Usually the ones i create are similar to ones in pvx. I made a pve earthshaker warrior ages ago and used it a lot, and only after a few months a earthshaker build came out (i use belly smash though )
Esan
PvXWiki is utter trash these days. At one point their build articles might have made some sense. Now it sees every build has bizarre skill selections and usage notes that have no bearing on the skill bars. And it is infested to the brim with the most puerile trolls.
Tyla
I just lol at some of the things.
Radiant Insignias? Lolwut?
Some of the builds are extremely atrocious.
Apart from farming, which Guru is already good for, it sees no use other than the lolz from me.
Idiots are funny.

In Soviet Korea, PvXwiki use you!
Coraline Jones
I use the builds somewhat.
I don't think that it's totally fair to say that the PvX wiki is totally worthless. While it's not the God Build Homepage, some sections are definitely more useful than others. For instance, when I was playing Nightfall, you have to use certain heroes in some missions or quests. I didn't like playing a Dervish so I didn't know any builds or which skills the AI would use right for Melonni. So I looked at the Wiki for hero builds and they do reasonably well when you have nothing else.

It's great for exactly what it is: a resource.
Especially when I was new. Just after I bought NF (my first GW game), I was pretty lost in terms of: what skills should I buy? What skills are good for this profession? And secondary?? Holy moly, what do I even want to try to combine with a Paragon, or Necro?? Checking out the various builds began to illustrate skill synergies and uses.
As a cookie cutter template factory, no. As a learning tool, and a springboard for builds, yes - definitely!

I use PvX wiki sometimes, and when i do get a build of there i tend to change a few of the skills for my own because most of the time the build takes a while to get used to. I also got the triple necro vanq builds off there.
afya
have a glance, get some new ideas, and create one
Jenn
Never have. I don't believe I've ever even been to the website before (is there a website? I assume it's not a part of guildwiki? See - I fail).
Trvth Jvstice
I don't believe the "never have" folks - but I try the pvx build and if it's decent in play, I use it, but normally tweak it a little for my play style. The people that say they have never used a pvx build are full of it. All of the proven builds are listed there - are you people saying you don't use good builds?
StormDragonZ
I've never used them. I may have looked to see what is considered "great" and looked at it in my own personal opinion, but never copy and paste. The best builds are the ones you can make yourself and still own everything in sight.
Abedeus
Yeah, but those builds you create are usually same or almost identical to pvx ones.
around
I believe there is also the option of pressing b in game to get good builds.
shoyon456
Generally, I look and see if theres one thats "innovative." If there is, I usually change it to make it better for what I'm trying to accomplish.
ThunderStruck
I primarily use the farming builds there, and I look for ideas for PvE non-farming builds and branch off from them

I used to, and Im glad I did, because believe it or not that's how I learned how to make my own builds...
Ekelon
I believe I'm the guy who gets my builds put onto PvX... So... technically PvX uses my builds. The only PvX build I've ever used was the HFFF stuff. It really helped!
Sora267
I use them as starting points (for PvE) then mercilessly edit my own version of it. Or I just outright copy them for when I RA (I'm mainly a PvE person but I enjoy opening a can of whoop-ass in RA occasionally).
Edit:
Looks like Ekelon is...Soviet Korean, whatever the hell that means.

Well, I do use "wiki builds", but I don't use wiki to look them up - I simply don't need to. I know all common bars for HA/GvG/AB and I have enough of a brain to make adjustments to those bars based on what I'm expecting to face and/or my own playstyle.
Some scrub in AB calling someone else (or myself) a "wiki noob" makes me /facepalm every time. People seem to not understand that every good bar in the game is already known and available somewhere online, and probably on wiki. If someone else's build is on wiki and yours isn't, you are the noob. Because you're running a bad build and don't realize it.
