a freind was telling me, that last x-mas event, a guy tried to sell him those frozen globs of ecto at normal ecto price. when he mentioned to the guy that they r not real ecto, the guy replies saying they will "thaw out" if he takes them into sorrows furnace. friend cancels trade window, tells him its a scam, guy logs out, then comes back a short time later on another name, same sale ad.

I was once stupid enough to be scammed 5k with "a secret place" scam near ascalon. I was caught real poor and really dumb. That's not gonna happen again.

can't remember any old good ones. other than top guilds charging people to join for like 10 min, then booting them after they get a screenie with the cape.

but it was funny seeing people selling moa eggs for like 2k.<---even this one is kinda old now.

Sadly those two won't get a response, Why?
Because there not scams.

The seller is offering an item and a price, if person B agree its just a normal trade.

Anet has stated before they don't not enforce market prices, and they will not take any action on trades.

As long as the correct item is sold its a fair trade, if you want to buy it for 100k+ or only 5g is a player enforced and agreed upon price. In the two examples no one was scamming.

Even the Moa dude offering an item that is free to everyone, Locations are free to everyone, and yet 100's still get dorks runs.

I know its hard to understand for the moral elitests, but its true.

I wanted to make some quick money. So spammed for imperial comendations for 100g each. 1 bloke wanted to sell 5 for 120. A lvl 17 e/me.
Had a change of heart showed her to trade 5 for a sup salv kit to sell for 1K (200 each you make). Pff I can't even make 400G on people ^^.

Guy last night when buying my tormented shield. Aparently I was on his friends list from when I first started the game, but I have no clue who he was. Anyway he had only seen the shield from the weapons keeper and wanted to see the animation. Then he tries to pull the Unyielding Aura trick on me. Ok ill play along... I die, I get unyielding aura on me, I drop a tournament token. He picks it up and gets pissed when he realizes what it is and that I'm not a complete moron. I get reported for scamming the guy because I told him (yeah whatever) that I would drop my shield so he could see the animation on his character and that since it was in chat logs that I was harassing a character under false pretenses.

But hey I found a new use for the Tournament tokens. They are gold afterall

I was just standing in LA checkin the party search for anything that catches my eye and out of no were I get 1000000 PM's from every noob and Retart in the GW community thinking im giveing out free ectos and I have thousands to give out. I can tell you that was the worst 10 mins of my GW life I was in complete shock I have 4 friends who I farm ectos with and I dont farm them alot. and I have set friends who buy them. This was just some random ass who decided to make my life hell for that day.
I think I pmed a few thousand people saying ( I DO NOT GIVE ANYTHING AWAY FOR FREE, I HAVE NO ECTOS STOP PMING ME).
Im still trying to grow in my hair were I started to rip it out LOL.

^ that happened to me last night but not nearly as bad. I was just sitting in kaening where this guy comes and opens trade window for no reason. I close it he keeps reopening it. I'm like wtf. He's like free ecto. Then I turn on local chat and see some other dude saying if you open trade get a free ecto and I'm like did you even read the chat. That wasn't even me saying it. <_<

Once in Pre I was standing in some town (don't remember which) and some guy was spamming that he would by dyes for 50g each. So I told everyone there not to sell any dies until post, and the guy starts yelling at me about ruining his sales. Apparently he added me to his friends list and kept spamming me for the next week. Sadly, I didn't know about the ignore list back then.

Back in the day instead of listing 5000g it just said 5 platinum... so it wasn't quite idiot worthy, you just need to triple check your trade every time.

I've had people try the scam on me where player A tries to sell some worthless item for a large amount (i.e. WTS Sskai's Sword, 80K) and then you see a second player spamming "WTB Sskai's Sword, 100K+2E". The funny thing is I had a Sskai's sword and kept trying to trade the guy but he just started cussing me out in whisper

I decided to have some fun with the 'recall scammers' today.

Playing as my D/Mo, I started advertising that I was selling my req9 perfect Crystalline (of course I don't actually own one). VERY quickly did I have someone asking if they could see it outside.

So off we go, out the front of Lion's Arch. He loaded before me and of course casted recall on me the second I appeared and fired off his commands that I should go and stand far away. I trotted over to the water-bed, and asked him "Is this good?". He was happy enough.

He wasn't happy at all when I cast Contemplation of Purity and started yelling at him for shadow stepping to me just before I was going to drop the sword.

He actually apologised and asked that I move a lot further away. Just before I agreed - and before he could cast Recall on me again - I cast Vow of Silence and started walking over to a different spot. He left before I'd even left his agro bubble.

I got the unyielding aura today in kamadan tryna sell my fellblade..

We went outside, and you cud obviously see it from the start.. A/Mo casted it so obviously on me it wasn't funny..

Anyway he runs away and tells me to drop it so I could look at it,
so i say.. promise me if I dc youll give it back..
he says.. dude I would never even try to scam someone its just not cool
at this point i am rofl

So im looking thru my inventory for something to drop.. and decide upon my ID kit..

So I drop my ID kit and instantly im dead,
two seconds laters ; 'Wtf you noob, not an ID kit'
and zones out...

I found it pretty funny how scamming just wasn't cool in his opinion, and how I was a noob ...

O man, I wanna do this too... but ive never encountered these recall scammers before.. Do they only lurk in american based servers or is this europ?

Anyway, I kinda did the same thing with ectos in the old days. EVERY time anyone was offering more for an ecto then they were worth, they tried to scam me for it. Offering 10g instead of 10p. So I ended up selling Mursaat cookies for 10g each

This probably fits under how someone pwned themselves but after the last Christmas event there was someone going around kamadan offering to buy the frozen ectos for some outrageous sum because they were convinced they would eventually thaw. I think I sold him 15.

I didn't really report him, that would have been futile, not really worth it anyway...

I hate runners... All he took was healing breeze, no running skills. He didnt even take that much from me, just the nerve....I feel sorry for him.

one time there was a person who spammed like "join my little game and you can win 10k, entry fee 500g" it was like me and just another person who joined. We payed him and the game started. the first was "Catch" He runned away a bit and he told us that the first who traded him in 5 minutes would get 1 point. We chased him for 2 minutes, then I thought that I could get some sugar in storage to run faster. Hee hee I think and start chasing him. When I start comming closer, he starts to count donw 3,2,1,0. I got a little "wtf... oh well" then the next game was 3 quizes. I dont remember them all... but they where not logic at any point. Remember only on.

A: A fat necromancer with armor dyed white....

Then the game is over and he leaves.

When EotN first came out, you could stand in Ascalon and shout, "See Gwen all grown up! Only 500 gold! Join party and we'll go outside!"

Add Gwen as a hero, run outside, say ty and leave.

It happened to me too, well some sort of... The runner asked me to pay in the middle of a run (Not in a town) then he just left and I killed by the mobs and then he pm me 'rofl noob' and blocked me. I have the screenshot too, but didn't report him.

Thats why I mostly run for tips.... If they choose not to tip then I reserve the right not to run them again, but at least I don't get a bad feeling of being scammed by the people I run.

The guy must've came from RuneScape. In RS they have God armors and well, trimmed armors. They are the normal armor with colorful lines and many people did not know how to get them. The trim scam was pretty popular but now it's impossible to fall for it.

Thats the closest thing I seen to scam and it really wasnt it was a creative beggar. I never knew how getting scammed in GW was even possible until I read this thread. And after reading this thread I still believe getting scammed in GW is impossible. Anything short of a hack or bug exploit is not a scam. Everyone has to hit accept. There is no scams in GW. The sooner Anet realizes this the sooner they can work on more important stuff, until then not 1kb should be wasted on scams or scammers unless its a hack or bug.
