Would you rather wield a good looking weapon skin, or a bad looking rare one?

I'm interested to see what everyone says. I love my dragon skin wand because IMO it looks great, and isn't one of the more common skins.

edit: I meant this to say, a good looking common weapon skin, or a bad looking rare one

good looking and rare > good looking and common > bad looking and rare > bad looking and common

In other words, rarity is at best a secondary consideration.

Why? There are a lot of people out there that I've noticed wield relatively rare weapon skins, but the skins themselves are pretty bland/ugly. I haven't found myself in the situation, but I'm not really sure what I'd do.

I mean, the weapon skins that just came out are really cool, but are the players going to use them, or not use them because they are available to a lot of people? This thread is in no way complaining about the weapon skins that just came out, or their rarity.

1. Good looking TO ME
2. Good stats
3. Rarity

I will never go around with horrible stuff like war FoW armor, colossal scimitars, ele swords or stormbows just because they are rare.

Favorite sword is an FDS, so I'd fit in with the former. I'm in Int districts and h/h teams anyways, so who *would* see a rare weapon?

FoW armor is a great example. I play ele, and I just can't bring myself to spend the money on armor that, IMO, looks awful. But other people do. Is it because of the rarity, or because they like the look?

I go for stats man... especially when you can have four weapon/focus/shield quick change slots. If you want that pretty stormbow for aesthetics... that is fine. I always choose stats over skins, unless there is money to be made there.

well now that we have inscriptions, you can pretty much get any stat on any weapon.

... no matter what FOW warrior armor looks like pixelated vomit.

A good looking common skin, all the way. I don't care about how rare it is. Noone is there to see it except you.

I pretty much always go for effectiveness then looks. I could care less about rarity. Why bother spending ludicrous amounts of plat +ecto + armbraces for something that isn't the slightest bit more effective than the free/cheap item my character already has?

This is just my opinion, but it seems the folks that tend to go for the rare stuff, tend to do so more for bragging rights than they actually like the item. Personally I play with only a few friends and the occasional PUG.. so basically very very few people even see what my characters or their heroes are using.. as long as I'm happy that's what counts. I could care less about the nonsense of what others think.

My favorite weapon skin is the plagueborn smiting scepter my 55 monk uses and NOBODY ever sees that but me.

I would wield the good looking one, flog the rare one to some idiot for an over the odds price

I'm not truly concerned about looks. Although that's not to say I'd enjoy weilding something that just looks like a vector line. I aim for effectiveness that compliments my build and if it looks good (in my eyes) that's just a bonus.

if you like those flashy rare skin, good for you, i'ma keep to my simple and straight to the point weapons

I would wield a good looking weapon skin all the way. Thanks to the bmp I can wield lots of nice weapon skins now for all my charactors.

I prefer rare and appealing...even if rare means req 7 or req8 on a nice skin...Its nice to have something you're proud of.
Although given the option...Id prefer rare and ugly than common and appealing though.

It only has to look good to me. I don't care how common or uncommon it is.
