Tyrian Tour Guide! (Cartographer Tips and Questions thread)
Snograt
Partially by scraping at the very end of the Borliss Pass mission and partially by scraping the Frost Gate outpost itself.
Krazas
I tried both, but still show me this piece covered by fog.
I used viper defense, necrotic traversal - no effect, but thanks for help.

Looking at the map, it looks like you might be able to hit it in the back end of the borlis pass mission.

3 mission areas easy to carto in Kryta:
D'Alesio Seaboard - talk to Jiaju Tai in LA and enter the backdoor way with NO WiK wanted quests active... there will be no foe.
Riverside Province - talk to Blade Operative Paulina in Sanctum Cay and enter the backdoor way with NO WiK wanted quests active... there will be no foe.
Divinity Coast - enter via the Secret River Passage with NO WiK wanted quests active... there will be no foe.
Only part I am not sure of is if there will be spawns if you have not finished BLA.

(I think you meant Riverside Province for the second location on your list.)
Yes, there are Mantle/Peacekeeper spawns in those areas until you have finished BLA, even if no WiK quests or bounties are active for those areas.

Again, bravo.. I passed these tips on to my guild/allies and told them I read it here. I know a lot of them are doing cartographer on Tyria.

spent ~ 2 hrs scraping/turning/running into walls trying to get this 1 small piece uncovered and no luck.... any suggestions? i've tried from majesty's rest as well...
ilr's guide has been pretty helpful for attaining the annoying nooks, but there was no mention of this being a trouble spot. i realize i don't need it for 100% but it's gonna really bug me

Hi,
I almost have 100 % tyria cartographer, just missing 0,3 %. I can't seem to get it anywhere, but then i noticed this area. What is that island below d'alessio seaboard? How do i get there? Need help, thank you.

The island below D'Alessio is the old Guild Hall island from before Factions was released. It can no longer be accessed.
Marty Silverblade
Actually, it was an old PvP arena called 'Competitive Arenas'. Like all the old PvP arenas, it cannot be accessed anymore. There is tons of leeway in Prophecies so there will still be lots of fog to uncover for 100%.
PS: That map has lots of uncovered spots on it. I wouldn't rely on it.

A general tip from a legendary cartographer for everyone here is that you scrape SLOWLY. Just stand at certain spots and turn around slowly. Those small grey triangles are very edgy when it comes to that! Also use necrotic transversal to get to certain areas where you normally can not go. Especially the Frostgate and Dunes of despair mission add a fair amount of area. Further the eastern part of Talus Chute has a small ledge which leads to an area where you normally do not come. The great northern wall mission, the area where the charr come from etc etc. You can find lots of tips on GWwiki and the web. Further I would recomment to combine this with elite skill hunting so you don't have to do the whole thing twice as I had to......saves you time.... :-)

That massive chunk is in The Great Northern Wall mission. When you're in the bit at the end where you run back there's actually a lot of area on the side you can explore. Move off the path and you'll be able to scoop all that out. The other bits should just be careful scraping. I'd go after Nolani first if the big piece isn't enough (just scrape it right at the end before you kill the charr bosses).

When I first started, I was playing causally without worrying about titles or completion. Now I'm trying to set up a strategy for tackling some areas I haven't completely explored.
Things like Elite Captures, Side quests and the like, but more importantly exploration. With large areas still unexplored as well as small bits here and there, could I just ignore the small spots?
They may indeed not count in the end, but some are large enough to have me running between several maps and missions trying to uncover something that be needed later.
I am using Textmod, but there are so many areas, a screen cap is not worth the trouble, but I can say there is no full region that is completed.
Thanks for all the advice so far. This thread and the previous have been very helpful.

Make a list of each map, crawl the walls completely, no speed boost, constantly angle into the edge, and check off each one as you complete it. Do the same thing for all towns, outposts and mission areas.
I've done Legendary Cartographer on two characters now (yes, I'm that compulsive) and I can tell you that every little nook and cranny counts. I have stepped into a corner behind a henchman in an outpost and seen the counter increase by .1%.
There is definitely more than 100% on the maps, so you've got a little room for missing a few spots. On my second character, I hit 100% Tyrian Grandmaster Cartographer without ever setting foot into Majesty's Rest (I only went there to vanquish).

But, don't let that lull you into complacency. Crawl the walls and find every little spot you can. That last 1% is never one big spot, it's always a bunch of little spots. I'm convinced that the counter increments in less that .1%, and that you can hit a bunch of .01% spots before the counter gives you a .1%.
Good luck.

Hello,
I've read that there's a glitch in Talus Chute, but I couldn't find any picture or guide how to get to "The end of the world".
Could someone give me a screen and location where to go to explore this piece of map?
Thanks in advance

I am stuck on like 99.7% and I can't seem to get this spot.
Any help would be appreciated
I have tried Vizunah Square and Shenzun tunnels.

I never got that spot either. Did you do the Eredon Terrace mapping?
That gives an extra .5% that is extra on the map.
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Eredon_Terrace
Wiki here says that you need to control the town... but if you portal jump through it from the explorable you can make it to the spot anyway.

Yah I did all of glitched locations on wiki. Stuck at 99.8% now, just going to go get every little piece I can from other places I guess :|. An Answer to that spot would be nice for the future tho for others.

Let me load up my own GMC of cantha and check it out.
I don't know what to tell you... as you can see I have Legendary Cartographer but I did not get that area.
Did you remember to get Jade Quarry and Fort Aspenwood mapped?
Did you do the Challenge missions like Amatza Basin?
Did you get the Monastery Overlook either through being a canthan character, Canthan New Year/Dragon Festival, or through portal jumping.
Did you get the part of Imperial Sanctum when you are exiled by Shiro?
Attached are images of my personal Map.

the big spot between the viz square and tahanaki..can only be gotten during the cutscene.
the spot west of zu kin is IN the outpost...go west (towards the area where you go to uw/fow and hug the south wall. (near the collector if memory serves)
the area by senji...you need to go to the burning area of nahpui and yes, hug some 'walls'

If you are referring to that spot in the lower right corner between VS Local and Tahnnakki Temple...
The above is quoted from the Canthan Cartography guide found in the Explorer's League forum on this very guru The NPC to speak to is Guardsman Chow.
If that doesn't work...it may not be possible to unfuzz that spot, despite what texmod shows. I finished Canthan Carto and that area is still fuzzy on my map as well.
Edit: whups, ninja'd by Cosyfiep :P

If you are asking about the area just to the left of the Temple outpost, you need to watch the Vizunah Square (foreign quarter) cut scene. Just ask the NPC in the outpost to view it again.
got distracted while typing and got ninja'd.

I can't seem to fill in this tiny little gap in Old Ascalon. I looked at the tour guide and it didn't help. I also tried getting there in Regent Valley and couldn't do it. Any help?
fires element
it can't be gotten. and on a side note an area that small won't matter
bieepbioop
Oh, okay, thank you. So I can still get 100% without it?
Mimbu
Sure, there is actually more than 100% in Tyria so those little corners dont matter that much.
bieepbioop
That's good new, are the other campaigns the same way?
Darwin Iznang
roses are blue
Yes, the other campaigns work the same way. However, the amount of wiggle room in the cartographer title is based on the world map size. You have more leeway in Prophecies, because it has the largest map, and less leeway in Factions, since it is the smallest map. So, it means more scrapping of the world border in Factions than in Nightfall and Prophecies to obtain the 100% mapped title.
sykoone
All campaigns have some leeway, but not as much as prophecies. Factions is about half the size of Fort Aspenwood, and Nightfall is a little more than half of the Remains of Sahlaja challenge mission. Prophecies you can hit 100% and leave off an entire zone if you scrape well.
ShackledColt
I've spent about 2 hours running back and forth in Iron Horse Mine and the mission Borlis Pass trying to map out this little square. I've managed to get it the square relatively small but now I can't uncover the remaining bit.
Does anyone know where I should be focusing to uncover it?
Does anyone know where I should be focusing to uncover it?
The Cutlass
It's so small that if definitely is not worth your time to get.
Kook~NBK~
Scraping aroound the village where you meet Rurick in Borlis Pass Mission should get it. But I wouldn't worry about it, since there's a ton of wiggle room for Tyria Cartographer.
EDIT: For the record, I just checked on my 2 GMCs and neither of them had that little square uncovered. Skip it.

Mortal Amongst Mere Gods
As the above said, there's so much leeway with the Tyrian Cartographer that you can easily afford to skip this bit, especially considering how small it is and how out of the way it is. But if you're really determined to get it, then do as NBK suggested and try to scrape it in Borlis Pass.
