QFT. They might not be thrilling this year, but at least it's not another set of horns and santa hats. :P Plus, they WERE free gifts, so I guess there's no point screeching about it.

Her design wasn't a floating circus with corgis jumping through hoops with fireworks going off in the background.

Nians design was soooo simple it pains me to look at that god awful wreath and think about how much time they put into doing that one up.

Exactly. They always make those contests and then some of the chosen concepts look so much worse than the original. But this time they had only one, ffs.

I would not have recognized it without knowing that this should be the Grenth Hat of the contest. ICE ISN'T DIRTY GREY. The great thing about the original concept was that it was glowing. I thought they are the industries leading artists, cough.

P.S.: The Dwayna hat shows some more effort, it is not animated, but looks alright. Going to get it later.

Ice Crown is NOTHING like the contest winner's depiction of it...

I'm a bit saddened. I thought it would look awesome, but o well...

While I feel somewhat ill over the designs (Nian, you have my sympathy), I find it nice that Anet at least did something. The hats are beyond poor, but they didn't have to made, nor did the event have to happen.

I'm surprised the even went ahead, what with all the whining. Makes me wonder if there'll be anymore events.

On a side note: What's with all this talk of 'QQ'? Is it some form of short-hand for whining?

i spent 59 mins in dist 13 as lady of perceptions and no event happened.

Apparently u need to be in a district that was created AT LEAST 15 MINUTES BEFORE the even starts, i have no idea why and it sucks.

Im in dist 1 right now but im willing to bet 100k that im gonna get a 007 error and the server will be full...

QQ = a crying face, like tears coming out of eyes.

There's whining after every event. Arenanet seem immune to it. It's just there's a lot of whining this time, because expectations were set quite high by a very nice concept, and let down by what was implemented. Having high expectations makes the let down even worse.

The thing I don't understand is that if they knew they wouldn't be able to match it (even the slightest bit..) then they should NOT have picked that as the winner and get the winner's hopes up so much.

I don't really mind. I missed the 'only 2' message so that's my fault. They used the jade sea texture on the ice crown it looks like, leaving it look kind of dirty - the dark jade sea areas not the light ones.

I'm glad I'm getting two more holiday hats anyhow.. I did like that grench looking red hat that won as well..

the ice crown would/might have been win if they would have gave us that nice dye-able 'chaos glow' LoL, what we got looks like it was made from a snow pile sitting on the street a few days after the storm.

as far as flowers with flame on my head...LoL Nice one! HaHa yea...

I think the ice crown couldn't be shiny simply because having hundreds of them at the same time on the screen would melt down graphics cards and servers everywhere.

I really like those hats. Wheat Crown is a unique concept I didn't expect to see, plus it looks absolutely cute on female characters! And that Ice Crown is just alright. It fits the look of Necromancers and other shadowy characters. New hairstyle comes free of charge.

Oh please! you act like you never got a gift on Christmas or for your Birthday that you didn't liked, these Hats SUCK, I have gotten Many gift over the years That were FREE and they SUCK, only difference I can't return this garbage that Anet gave us.

Would I be the first person to say that i actually like these hats?

I dont know why..but they just appeal to me more than stupid santa hats and jester hats, while the crown doesnt look exactly like the design, i still think they did a good job with it

thought they could do a better job, but I guess with the whole team working on gw2 we cant expect anything good from now on for gw1.

(and condolences to nian for the way they rendered her design....but if you let others play with your work, your hands are tied).

"The Wintersday Grand Finale didn't run in some districts."
They have changed the status from "Active or pending event" to "Event over".
Lots of people in many districts have waited over an hour for nothing...

Personally I like the Dwayna hat, a modified Saint Lucia crown...the ice hat is not my cup of tea but monstrous lag overshadowed that for me.
