You paid for gW:EN or character slots or whatever... those where your choice

I think there wouldn't be all of this fuss if anet allowed to get BMP by any activation of their products (total of $29), not just PlayNC or online store stuff. There wouldn't be this "idonthavecashcard" and "parentsdontbuyonline" reasons of past QQers, there wouldn't be present QQers at all.
I agree it's a slap in the face from anet. Maybe it was unintended effect of making people believe in BMP exclusivity, but anet saw it clearly and didn't do anything about that.

The scam was obvious, those of you who fell for it, fell for it.

OMG that's not fair for the people that spent $30+ just to qualify for it. If they're doing that I want a refund. Another character slot? No thanks, I'd rather have my money back (except the $5 that it now costs). And I didn't buy GWEN in the online store, I bought it in an actual store. So I wasted money on character slots and bonus items I never use just to get this.

So what do u want Anet to do? Remove the BMP selling? At the end u complainer will feel happier coz others will not have it?

No, I don't have a problem with others being able to get it. I just want the extra money I paid to be refunded. It was obvious from reading the many threads at the time, that the majority believed they would not be able to get it unless they bought in the store. Anet knew this and still gladly let us believe it. 2 months earlier access to the BMP, which offers approx 1 hour of gameplay, is not worth £12. Which is the extra amount they tricked us into spending. Yes I could have bought EotN if I hadn't already preordered it before becoming aware of the promotion.

I think they've done a disservice to those who spent the $29. Early on they said it was a limited offer.
I don't see them selling items/auras from the collector editions. Quite frankly I felt this was supposed to be the same thing.

I think this whole thing would have gone so much more smoothly if they'd just straight up said "Buy from us now and you get the BMP earlier, or wait a month and pay a separate fee for it." Not this false panic stuff.

Yeah, I'm not happy about paying $30+ in the store to get it when it'd become available 2 months later for a fraction of the price. But whatever, I would've bought it either way.
I'm happy that others are going to be able to enjoy the weapons from it. (What, did you really think that it would tell us some valuable information we didn't already have? The mission involving Gwen told me nothing, except for how Gabban died...)

Due to POPULAR DEMAND they are offering the BMP for sale, as people asked them too

Call me naive (you're not the first and won't be the last), but I figured I'd better not play the odds and get it while I could.

If it was so 'obvious' that this wasn't a 'buy now or lose forever' type deal, then why didn't they say that to all the people that got upset they weren't able to buy the BMP in the first place? A lot of people had problems trying to pay online. Whether they were overcharged at the bank or their credit cards were rejected, sure it's just a game but it was effecting their irl stuff. They were having to call banks and their credit card companies to sort things out. Besides all they had to go through with not being able to obtain something they wanted (purchase of BMP through online store), they were also getting the added hassle of sorting out the irl bank/cc stuff. So why didn't Anet say we're sorry you have all this irl drama going on due to the in-game store, but don't stress about not getting the BMP because we're going to offer it again. Or when all the people that saw the cool weapons then wanted to purchase the BMP and were upset that they missed out on something they decided they wanted afterall, why didn't Anet put their minds at ease and say it will be released again in a couple of months? Or why didn't they just extend the promotion if they really were concerned for those that missed out on the offer due to circumstances they couldn't control. Why let them go through those couple of months of uncertainty/being upset for no reason?
Just some things I was wondering.

@WinterSnowblind
It's possible, I have been here too long so the dates/instances of things get fuzzy and/or meshed together. Maybe Edges 'Waaahmbulance' ran me over, knocked me out unconscious and altered my memory. :P
[Add/Edit] In any case, if Anet was rectifying a problem that some people had in not obtaining the BMP in the first place, why didn't they extend the promotion at that time? What's with the 'suffer a little and offer it later' thing?

The point is valid though. At no point through all the stress etc over the last 3+ months did Anet step forward and tell the truth. Only now when their misinformation campaign has already screwed as much money as they can out of us, do they make it known that it will go on sale seperately.
And they come back with 'but we never actually said that in the first place'. That isn't really the point. You knew what many people thought and watched as they paid 3 times more than necessary for something, when you and only you knew it wasn't necessary.
Plus I remember reading somewhere at the time 'we have no plans to release the BMP in future' or something along those lines. I can't find it now. But 3 months from no plans to in stores seems a bit unlikely.

Okay, so some people didn't get it because of computer or credit card things. That's understandable why they'd be bringing it back for those people. But why at only a fraction of what the rest of us paid? A refund of the money, excluding the now $5 price, seems more fair, either that or $30 like the rest of us spent.
Crom The Pale
Technically it was free for those of us that purchased something via the online store to qualify. For me it was GWEN.
I certainly understand both sides of this. I was under the impression it was a one-time-only deal when I aquired it. I have a guild member, with no access to a credit card, that missed out and is now pleased to hear it is coming to retailers.
In the end I really have to ask myself, if I knew at the time it would come to stores would I have made my purchase online just to save $5?
Yes.

i am wondering why they didn't just have it up for grabs for $10 to begin with. then there would be no QQ'ers at all

I guarantee, in 2 weeks time, there's going to be another flood of threads, themed: "Did I pay $10 for this?"
At least I got it for "free".
Chthon
Personally, I think it's fantastic.
Everyone gets the BMP weapons they want. A-net gets the money they want. Those of us who get it early paid less (even if we did pay a premium for EotN, we didn't overpay by $10) and got it sooner. I don't see how anyone can have a legitimate gripe about this.

Even if Anet didn't categorically state it would not be available any other way, their wording was deliberately ambiguous enough that a great many people (myself included) believed that was the case. That is why so many people joined in with 'petitions' to make it available in future and why Gaile felt she had to push forward the case for people who wanted it. Unfortunately Anet have now updated the website pages regarding the promotion, so we can't examine the ambiguous wording. But as the only people able to provide information and as the ones providing the service, surely there is a duty of care, that rests with the company, to ensure people are not misled into spending £18 to acquire a product which they can get in the (very near) future (with box) for £6. |
I dont think anyones denying the entire thing has been handled wrong. But I just dont see what can be done about it and refunds arent really going to happen!
What if the stand alone price for the BMP was £18, would you be happy then? I wouldn't because that would be a rip off and I'm not getting extra character slots out of it!
What if the stand alone price in the online store was £18 and it was selling for £10 in highstreet stores? Because they said some retailers will ship it! Would you be miffed about that?
Keep in mind that we still all have to pay around £8-9 for the BMP so its not free and you got extra character slots which we wont! But try to look at this like the january sales. The BMP cost £18 before xmas and now it costs £8, its just commerce!
Dark-NighT
Gosh this thread still alive, its just repeating itself at every 3 pages, the same discussion over and over again, only put together in different words really.
Sorry couldnt resist.!

I got the BMP during the promotional period, and I enjoyed it very much.
I believe it is a enjoyable piece of content, that everyone should have access too. I like to see it as a "mini-expansion". And for the people who missed it, having another chance, even if paid, to get it I found fair.
For me, this maybe the way to keep the blood on the game flowing while the main team is busy with GW2.
If there are no new big content coming, at least they could give us some small bits of content like that in the future. We get new stuff, they get more money to invest on GW2..everyone is happy.
Thumbs up ANet!

I am pissed off that Anet knowingly misled many people as to the BMP's availability. As I had already preordered GW:EN, it seemed, from reading a great deal on wiki and forums, that my only option to get this content was buying 3 slots that I don't need or want, 14 characters is too many for me.
In this case a refund for returned goods should happen.
As for the rest of your post with ridiculous price suggestions and comparison to Jan sales. Please. No. Are you trying to make yourself look clever or stupid?
Here is a quote from the Department for Business Enterprise and Regulatory Reform website. and the link http://www.berr.gov.uk/consumers/buy...ing/index.html
Distance Selling Regulations
Distance selling means selling and buying by phone, mail order, via the Internet or digital TV. Such transactions are covered generally by normal buying and selling legislation, but they are also covered by special Distance Selling Regulations.
Distance Selling Regulations give protection to consumers who shop by phone, mail order, via the Internet or digital TV: The protection includes:
• The right to receive clear information about goods and services before deciding to buy;
We did not receive clear information before deciding to buy and we were on a deadline.

/sigh to complain, for me i'll thanks Anet another time for the BMP reselling.
