A.net just reset the Favour of European Server
RTSFirebat
Was up to 36,000 mins of favour, basically about 25 days worth. Then it say we no longer had it. That's not really fair, I mean they shouldn't do an PvE event like this weekend's one and not expect the favour to get really high.
meh... epic fail!
Updated: We have it back again, but now its only 80 mins
Jhadur
So what just happened to the 40k minutes of favor that the world had?
Mortis
I'm guessing we hit a certain number that meant the favor reset somehow.
LeoX
Yep, maxed out probably i'd say (imo). Won't max out again by tonight, so we should be set with a few days at the end of the weekend :|
mr_groovy
all i can say is LOL.
zwei2stein
last time i checked, favor was about 32k minutes.
My guess is that someone at anet needs to learn difference between *int* and *long* and how cool is to use later one.

We lost favor and got it back in about 1 minute. Amazing.

Greetings,
Seems that we, the players, have more title desire than ArenaNet allowed for. About an hour ago, 9am eastern, we had over 33,000 minutes of favor remaining. I believe this is because of the mass amounts of people doing the SS/LB weekend.
Well, it's apparent that ANet didn't program for the favor minutes to get that high, because as of around 10am eastern, the world lost the favor. Now, how can 33,000 minutes of favor disappear in just above an hour? All I can give is a technical explanation.
I believe that the code used to store the favor minutes in the Guild Wars program wasn't designed to hold that high of a number, and the minutes rolled over to a negative number. However, since there can't be a negative amount of minutes remaining, the program (Guild Wars) just set the minutes to zero and said that the world lost the favor.
Time to get those programmers off GW2, ANet, and fix this favor minutes BUG.
Merry meet, merry met, merry meet again,
Wyldchild777
Edit: just had to mention, since this got merged with the European thread, that this also affected the American servers (I guess that would be a duh )

They better give us at least 35k minutes if the cap is there. It'd be fair since those people worked for it. Lame, lame. Oh and the WTF Favor! threads spammed as fast as the title haha.

Was bound to happen. 35K minutes is ridiculous.
garethporlest18
Oh well I guess. We'll probably have around 8k minutes when it's all over. Maybe a bit more if it still goes 1k an hour.
Mixie
If its 35k minutes, then its 35k minutes - leave it that way. It`s the very rule of the game itself - this way gw will be turned into game with no (or everchanging which is ultimately the same) rules. I as a player have less and less faith in this game because of constant interventions by the ANet. I feel that every nerf, every changing of rules ruins the game. "This build is too powerful - lets nerf few skills" just by itself sucks hard. Counter build would eventually come up, so what is the nerf for then? Don`t try being creative instead of your players, pls.. When i played, for instance, Heroes 4 wouldn`t probably play it if i had to patch it with "better" rules on a few days basis. Or maybe we are all playing one big virtual rpg with ANet as gm - it`s just that we are unaware of it..
Antheus
Isn't GW supposed to be dying, or be dead already, or something like that?
Favor was reset. In other news, the sky is falling.
No, seriously, the drama is way out of proportions over this.
BTW: you're appear to be still playing, which means the game is fine as it is.

What's the point of resetting it? Scrolls have already made it possible to get into UW/FoW whenever you want. Any effect on ecto/shard prices would probably be very slight, if it changes at all. And it would be a drop in price, which seems to be anet's goal for every other item to make GW more appealing to casual players. Is ecto the one "sacred" item that they want to be more expensive instead of making it easier to get?

It may not gave been an intentional reset, but a game bug.
The favor reset occured at 34592 minutes, or about 2^21 seconds. Depending on how the game was programmed, it is possible that reaching that level would cause it to 'overflow' and reset to zero.
I read the first page. I believe it's recorded in seconds. It is true that an overflow can occur at 32767 minutes, but we were well over that.
THIS WAS NOT INTENTIONAL. IT WAS NOT 'TAKEN AWAY'. THIS IS A BUG.
Edit. I was wrong the first time, it's in milliseconds. Read 8 posts down.

So I'm guessing you guys have never noticed that when game updates come out favor resets... It's not like this is much different...
RTSFirebat
Hey I made the thread to discuss, not to QQ. The favor time going up like a rocket still anyway.
That other figure was not posted by me, what on Earth are you talking about? ¬_¬

Ok. There goes my explanation.
Still, I can't imagine this being anything other than a bug, especially without any announcement.

Ok. It's in milliseconds. It's a 32-bit signed integer. That's 31 working bits. (2^31-1)/(1000*60) is 35791 minutes and change.
