I'm sure everyone by now knows what runners are and what they do. So I just got to thinking, what does everyone think of them? Here are my thoughts:

Runners for hard areas, like certain missions, Drok's, etc. are okay. And even ferries to the docks in Istan are fine as well. But the runners in the Marketplace charging for runs to Kaineng Center, well I don't get that because if you just stick to the left (north) and avoid aggro, you can get there without even engaging in a fight. But yeah, what does everyone else think?

Don't bother me a whole lot, but the KC run is pretty cruel : ( It makes newer players think that it's hard to get to when they see people advertising for runs.

How much are people charging for KC runs?

I've used runners several times to get from Ascalon City to LA, so I have no problem with them at all.

i think runs are one of the best things in the game. The droks run is almost crucial if you have played through Prophecies numerous times, and want to skip a whole section. Other than that, i dont get run too often, but overall i feel runs are pretty cool

Runs are useful, particularly the Drok's one if you want the armour, but don't have the time nor the motivation to Ascend.

From the Marketplace to Kaineng Centre? That's pathetic. I took a lost Necro player up there once, as I was headed that way as well. When we got there he asked if he owed my money, quite sad actually.

I think runs are great, so I don't have to play. I hate playing certain things. Like Nightfall, and most Prophecy missions.

Runs are one of the good services of GW. Though some runs I think are overcharged, such as the last mish of EotN.

Is it possible the KC run has value if you are working on Survivor title?

I think having 2 accounts with 2 computers I can pretty much run myself wherever I want to go without paying anybody. And occasionally I let other people tag along for free too, like free runs for low-levels to get to LA for holiday events. On the other hand, I usually don't bother - I have the game to play it, not to skip it.

EDIT: KC to Marketplace (and vice versa for characters from other campaigns new to Factions) is just exploiting ignorance.

I've mostly gotten runs when I don't want go through an area for a fifth or sixth time or whatever. So, they're really lifesavers there.

Charging for runs to Kaineng, I wouldn't call running but scamming.

Only if you're wearing starter armour. You can avoid all enemies on that route, I just did the lazy way and went right up the side. I think a hench took some damage from an Afflicted.

Runs are great, with the release of factions I had a whole host of new lvl 20 characters created in factions that I wanted to ascend quickly in Tyria without having to play through all that again, LA -> SC run ftw

The only thing that bothers me is when runners specifically target new players and make them believe that running is the norm, effectively taking all the new player's money for a run to a place where they can't do anything yet anyway because they're too low level and they can't buy the armor either because they didn't earn any money in all the quests and missions they skipped. Hmm maybe an automatic spam filter that eliminates all sentences in chat with the word "run" in it for the first 2 weeks of playing? ^_^

I don't care about them.

If I need a run, I get one. Only to areas such as Drok's though, I'd rather do missions on my own.

Half the time, I don't need runs though.

I love runners and running. It has made me very rich. But I haven't run any in a while. No time for it. I always did the Droks,Sanctum Cay, Shiverpeaks tour, and Ascalon run. I ran one person to Droks and he like it so much he offered me 50k to run the shiverpeaks and ascalon and cay run. I was loving that fare. I never did the KC run. always felt like it was a scam charging for it. Now someone running it for tips is a different story. Charging for like said, keep to the west and avoid the small bit of agro is lame when one doesn't know it's such an easy run.

Runs have their place, when you have people that have played through the games many times and just want to move along a character at a rapid pace so you dont have to grind through extra stuff to get there

mission runner is fine, cause some place is diffcult for some class, but town runner, they just killing the big part of fun in the game, that's why ppl complain there is nothing left to do, they skipped too many stuff on the way by getting a run.

<3 runners..I've completed every campaign multiple times and if I get the chance to skip parts I've done on other characters, then I'll be sure to do so.

I don't mind paying 300g for a KC run on a survivor character. I do care when I see runners trick someone into thinking that a run to KC is difficult

Runners are only bad if it is your first time through the game or when they are basically scamming people (like the marketplace to KC "runners"). Learn to play before you start taking shortcuts.

I like runners, they've helped me a lot throughout my time on GW. I respect them greatly, I can't stand hanging around outposts waiting for a full team to run.

I agree that KC runners are rather pathetic, though.

I see running (map travel and mission running) the way a lot of people seem to view Ursan Blessing. It is a designed-in-by-Anet method to avoid doing the content the “right” way in order to save time and get to the desired end result faster and easier.

I think players who get runs are cheating themselves out of the full PVE experience. I personally have never paid for a run, however I don’t spend my time getting upset by things the game design clearly allows. Think about how many skills specifically facilitate running.

Based on appearance of gates in the games following Prophesies, it would seem the designers came to see running (across maps) as hurting the game in a way they apparently do not (yet) with UB.

I have absolutely no problems with runners at all, provided they are honest. I also have no problems at all with them charging what they wish, as its a free market. If someone doesnt like the price offered, dont pay it and seek someone else, but insults are unnecessary, as are scams, from either party.

I dont buy the runners (or runnees) killing the game argument by any stretch. They're just getting places. Most everyone is someone with many characters. All of my characters went back and completed everything they missed by getting a run somewhere else, if they got one. Some didnt. Some I ran myself. Its simply nice to get to where you want when you want sometimes, and its a nice gameplay challenge/option on top of it (in most cases) to actually be able to run.

If you've done the Shing Jea missions yourself, there should be no way, even if you are going for survivor, that you should need a run to KC. Level up. It doesn't take long on that island. If you are so lazy that even that is too slow...sad, sad puppy.

Otherwise, the runs are nice. Hell, I sometimes think the Drok's run was made as a yardstick for runners.

Running was one of the most enjoyable aspects of the game for me and many others in the old days. When the main stream of professional runners were in the game then you could make millions daily doing simple tasks because people didnt enjoy them, they are kind of a cheat but most of the time you pay for that cheat so its not so much of a cheat but more of a helping hand. I made stupid amounts when I did it so im happy. Would I pay a runner now? No, dont be stupid....

People charge like 1k for forge runs now its a complete joke and the best part is most of them die at the first tunnel. Fun Times. Scammers are a bad deal for runners thou but I use to get it up front so it wasn't so much of a problem for me but for the majority it was.

The KC run is pretty easy and you don't need a fully lvled player unless you are a Survivor or going the way to The Market Place.

My opinion of runners is rather neutral:

The only runners I ever use are ones to the consulate docks, otherwise I get myself everywhere.

I take offense to runners who overcharge; I ran a person going for survivor from the marketplace to KC for free, because someone advertising was asking for way too much.

The biggest issue I have, though, is when I hear people complain that there is nothing to do or the game is too easy, after they got a run for their max armor and find going back to where they left off too easy or boring...
