To some degree, many of these NPCs are luxuries, since map travel allows you to reach a city that has a similar NPC with a few clicks of the mouse, but there are certain NPCs that we know people will be very anxious to hire.

Important services, such as a Xunlai storage agent and a priest of Balthazar, will be moderately priced, while other, more esoteric services will be priced as luxuries. Among the most anticipated, I'm sure, will be a vault keeper who maintains storage space for the whole guild. This is an entirely new feature that we're adding soon after the release of Factions.

It should IDEALLY (imho) be an update that everyone have access to without having to pay a single cents, since there are already people willing to fund Arena Net by buying the overly expensive makeovers packs.
Have you tried using trading systems in other such games?

They usually work like this:

- You have a 'marketplace', an area where everyone can go to sell their items.

- You can stand there and advertise your items for sale, in GW the party search menu makes listing items and viewing them very easy.

- ***OPTIONALLY*** If you want to sell stuff while playing the game, you can, if you so choose, purchase a stand in the marketplace which remains active after you leave the marketplace or even log out, so people can view and buy your items while you arent there.

Sales made in your absence this way get removed from your character automatically, and you recieve the money. I myself have never purchased any such market stands in any games, but some people with lots of things to sell may want to do this.

i wish they would have trading like Ultima Online.

Player run vendors with a daily fee dependant on the price of stuff for sale on your vendor.

We could have a big marketplace for all these vendors to go in

bhavv you misunderstand my post.

no to player run vendors - they are the most irritating thing that one can see in an mmorpg game.

Hell no. That is one of the most annoying 'inventions' in MMORPGs.

Seconded. Thats why I love the AH in WoW. Its simple and lets you see what other people are selling the same item for. Alot of times people don't have the time or inclination to spend hours on end in Spamadan trying to see their wares and I can only imagine that user stands would make the port cities all the more clunky and chaotic. Plus most people don't know the first thing about pricing and so alot of people wouldn't sell anything.

'Player Vendor' thing would not be that anoying if games that have it also added decent search feature.

The best trade system I've ever seen is the Granado Espada(Sword of the New World) one.

Just plain big lists, with limitations in the number of items you can put to sell, not in the number of people that can sell, then a search feature that works.
