I think that nerf really proved once and for all just how little ability ANET has to manage the games bloated skill system anymore. That they had to completely gut and rewrite a once-useful core skill that went virtually untouched through 2 campaigns really just drove home the point, to me anyway, that they've just completely overextended themselves on the skill system. Changing core skills like that because a completely different profession is abusing them is just sad.
Um... that's more or less what it does. In fact, what you're suggesting is actually slightly more forgiving than what it does NOW. The unclaimed gifts lose their assignment after 10 minutes like any other drop, so AFKers have 10 minutes to get their drops or they're up for grabs.
Personally, I think the new mechanism is much more fun. Everybody who's actively playings gets a few even if their connection sucks and the greedy jerks like me get to fight over the remains at the Rings games.

Any nerf made after a year or more of something being just fine definitely belongs here. Soul Reaping, most notably (goddamn timer), but also Horns of the Ox and a handful of other things...

The worst nerf was to Soul Reaping and the energy gain from death of pets, spirits and other bodies. This timed delays still suks and should be removed since they took away spirits.
On a good note though all nerfs to assassins and rangers are justifiable. <grin>

Oh, and i agree with eles being like a glass cannon. They should be able to dish out high amounts of damage but be killed without too much difficulty. I think the earth magic attribute line would help to balance the ele to give it a bit more defense but some ele skills should be buffed. Only a handful of ele skills are high damage dealers and are worth putting on your bar. The rest are just pretty icons..

Incoming - Yes it was overpowered, now it sees no use in pvp or pve because it is such a terrible skill.
Actually I will say paragon skills in general are just dead, they killed 2 lines of skills and really all the had to do was tweak how leadership worked, the dorks.
Rit Lord got hit too hard almost making an entire skill line for rits useless.

It's not a skill in general use, but it's there as a trump card to buildwars against spike. I think that's a fairly healthy state for the skill to be in.

But paras are dead for pve as the only really useful build for them includes 3 frigging pve skills, one of which is a "warrior" one.
Pvp they are fine but that leaves a(the) whole population of the game not using them. And please do not tell me to bring 3 or more paragon teams into pve. Incoming saw a tiny bit of use, congratulations that means the skill is totally useful and great and is not shit.
I play a bit of both pve and pvp but I know how futile these arguments get when someone brings up a pve concern about skill nerfs.
So I will go ahead and tell myself I know nothing about what I am talking about and definItely save you the trouble. : )

All nerfs have been fine imo...some people forget that the people nerfing the skills are also the ones who created them. If they see fit to change a skill that they introduced in the first place...so be it. It makes for a better game.
