This is sort of a cheat because its 2 skills instead of one but hey here goes ..

" You can run..."
Attribute : Strength
Type : Shout
Cost : 5 Energy
Recharge : 12 Seconds
Description : For 10..8..4 seconds all nearby foes move 33% faster,, when this skill ends they are knocked down for 2 seconds, and this shout ends

"...But you cant hide"
Attribute : Strength
Type : Shout
Cost : 10 Energy
Recharge : 12 seconds
Description : For 4..8..10 seconds any nearby knocked down foe is crippled for 1..4..8 seconds, if under the effect of " You can run ..." they become crippled and dazed for 4..8..10 seconds, and this shout ends

As you can see they can both be used on their own, but work better together in sequence .. warriors need a good strength shout or 2

Last valid entry as Red Apple's. I will be judging all the skills today and tomorrow. Winners will be announced on Monday before 9PM EST. I will then contact each winner via PM to determine if they get in game prize or auction invite (Euro players get in game prize).

Great entries though, you guys really made this competition fierce.

I had a spinal cortizone injection this morning, so I have been kind of out of it. I am judging the skills as I type this. Results will be posted in this thread and I will edit opening post and add list of winners. Contact about the prizes will be tomorrow and Wednesday. So hang tight!

These are the handpicked 25 winners. They are in order of posting in the thread, not by any other rank or position. In other words, the 3rd "place" winner's skill isn't any better then the person in position number 22. There is no 1st, 2nd, 3rd place, etc etc.

So without further adieu, the winners!
  1. Elia - Spirit of Decomposition
  2. zwei2stein - "Expoit" (very unique, love it)
  3. Q221- Aura of Incompetence
  4. Lexxguard- Animate Divine Horror
  5. MarlinBackna- Soul Battery
  6. Draikin- Dispel Hexes (this was honestly one of my favorites!)
  7. Nevin- Lion's Roar
  8. windtalker- Thespian's Balance
  9. aurorascion- Raging Seraphim
  10. MoriaOrc- Mantra of Bewilderment
  11. Zhang Zyria- Thunderstorm (OMG, another counter to shouts and chants. I LOVE IT)
  12. Rich_Izy- Droning Strike (it might be a bit too powerful, but you created great lore for it. A+)
  13. Melkorium- Implode (great skill!)
  14. Rye- Feeding Frenzy
  15. PerrinDB- Animate Zealous Horror
  16. Painbringer- Master of Misery (love the name, pretty nicely balanced)
  17. the ruloes- "I Will Catch You!" (Interesting concept, and shadow step for Paragons is very unique)
  18. XrunehunterX- Devastating Assault (you put a lot of though into the skill, and it actually is more balanced then it appears to be)
  19. Joju- Instictive Flurry (corrected spelling for you, but very cool Beast Mastery elite)
  20. Koricen- "Shut the %$&# Up!" (cute skill, and another viable counter for shouts and chants)
  21. A Leprechaun- "Give Me Strength!" (cool skill, balanced nicely with no attack skill bit)
  22. krypt1200- Expunge Hexes (very well balanced, love it)
  23. ValaOfTheFens- Grenth's Hourglass
  24. Milea- Summon Angorodon
  25. RiceCream- Enduring Spirit (obs flame spam = fun, but being an enchant, easily countered, nice work)

To the rest of you who didn't win, it isn't because your skill isn't cool, or unique. I judged these skills based on how detailed their descriptions were, and how balanced they were. Skill icons helped a bit, but the main thing that got the winners into their winning positions were following the guidelines extremely well. I may hold a contest like this again. Best of luck to everyone, and thanks for competeing!

Congrats to all the winners! I was really hoping to win, but with so many great skills the competition was pretty fierce.
Now if only ANet were to look at these and make a few of them into real skills....

Looking back over the thread, I don't envy you for having to judge it. A lot of stuff I might have picked didn't end up making the cut. There were a lot more skills then I remembered.

If you are an american player and you won, please PM me your primary email so I can get auction invites sent out.

If you are euro player, PM me your primary GW character's name, and I will PM you at some point in game to give you prize (it won't be huge, but it will be something.)

Thanks, that makes me feel good. Glad you won, and I am glad everyone enjoyed the contest, winner or not. A ton of the skills almost made the cut, but I had to choose 25. There were some other skills that required a bit of tweaking, like less Dazed duration perhaps, or more energy/higher recharge, or that really could have used a skill icon. Some of the skills didn't have the needed info, but the skill description or concept may have been amazing. But, rules are rules, and I can't circumvent them. Maybe I will hold this contest again in the future, and those who didn't win this time will have another go at it.

Yay I got picked, wait what do I do now?

Email:

P.S. - Rahja if you are going to be around for GW2 and start a guild and what not, I'd like to be in it. I think it'd be nice to be in the forefront of the community when GW2 is released- I've never really done anything community related for GW1, and I believe it's lead to my short coming playing it. Perhaps if I take a different approach to GW2 as such, I may be able to enjoy the game for more than just the game play.

I hope that I can find like-minded fellows at my college next year and convince them all to dominate World PvP...it sounds so great to me. I would probably create a scout patrol type thing and slip into enemy territory and disrupt operations, and probably do a documentary of it as well. But I need to find those brave souls and a much better computer before I can attempt that. ...
Don't screw it up, Anet!

Ooh yay, I won... Hurrah for me! And, of course, everyone else who won as well.

Right now I'm considering which prize I should accept. I'm a European player myself, but I might know some American friends that could be interested in the American prize. I'll try to ask them and see what they say about it. If I find someone interested, I'll send their e-mail, and they can have my American prize. If I don't, I'll "just have to" ( ) accept my European prize.

Depending on the guild situation and layout, yeh, absolutely. I am honestly hoping that perhaps the guild system as we know it has become far more advanced by GW2. *crosses fingers*

I sent an auction invite to you. YOu may want to delete your email from the public post. Some people do nasty things with others emails.
