Has anyone ever made you CRY on guildwars.......?
Borat X
My friend and I have been in the same guild for two years now. I met her while pve'ing in Factions. As the weeks go by….we have grown accustomed to our guildies…..our officer…. our leader…and have become close friends…. I believe we all shared an understanding, and also shared many fond moments of joy together….sigh…
So....we decided to start PvP'ing as a guild 3 months ago....it came to a point where one of our guildie that we have known for 2 years…..started blaming my friend for making the team lose....I dont know why....but PvP has literally made him into a monster.....he started yelling on vent....and screaming that she is bad …this made her cry on ventrillo and she left the guild….
It feels like something is missing in our guild now….my question is if this is normal in the PvP world…where pvp has made one of your nicest guildie turn to PvP monster?

He's obviously passive aggressive, probably got problems not related to gw, and's taking out his anger on others, not healthy.
Gems
Lol, i agree thats pretty stupid... But I don't think its just PvP that makes people a monster... most people that play GW always have something to say to someone and just like to cause arguements about the most stupid of things. Thats why I'm not in a guild and never will be, and i prefer to play with heros or hench. 99% of People suck on GW.
Nemo the Capitalist
ditto on that GW can turn nice people into addicts.
Happened to me untill i detoxed and sought an intervention fomr my guild.

Vent/TS is bad....you really cant make somebody cry just by typing

If you can't take it or dish it out... you shouldn't be doing any type of competitive gaming at all. Besides that, I don't really think this topic will be very um, constructive. But we'll see how it goes.
I mean, I can take it (check my email inbox for example... yes I laugh when you forum users email me screaming and cursing myself, my family and my dog for a ban). But I am really really bad at dishing it out. My feeble attempts have been laughed at many times in IRC.

Cry in laughter:
Me: So what do you need?
Guild Leader: We've decided to kick you out for being annoying.
Me: Darn. So what made me annoying?
Guild Leader: That's not important.
-Kicked out-
About twenty seconds later, three guild members PM me asking why I was kicked out. I couldn't answer them. Eventually I found out I was kicked out for not having Rank 8 or higher in the Kurzick Title and that particular guild didn't want to look bad because of my "lack of a good title"...
So I had a good laugh... to the point I cried because of how sad some guilds can be...
EDIT: For the record, I'm Rank 6 Kurzick.

Vent and TS can get heated sometimes. I've never cried, but have seen players get yelled at and then storm off, usually while PVPing. If I don't like what they are saying, I just say good night, and get off, or become irritated and give it right back.
THAT... is cold.

No....

Never cried over GW. I've gotten mad at people before, others have gone mad at me but... yeah... never that bad. If I'm mad I just log, chill a bit and come back.
IMO there's nothing to cry over this game, altough some people are oversensitive... and let's face it, some people are utter a-holes. It's a bad thing when they're together.

I know some of you may find it funny….what moron would cry over a game? Joining a random competitive guild for short period of time and getting kicked…or joining a random group ….getting screamed at is a simple situation..… sure, I will accept my bad game play and get it right next time..…no problem..
But knowing this humble guildie for 2 years….and seeing him express his ill-logic anger directly to my friend …I am human after all and do share a common courtesy of sorrow for a friend…
If expressing sorrow is possible, or even happiness when you get a good drop… crying is more than possible!

My friends and I have made fun of people so bad that I cried from laughing so hard. Reinvite your friend and kick the jackass out.

A good example to mention regarding possible moments when someone would show emotion is if someone wants to join a group to a mission, and it happens to be that person's first time ever doing the mission.
That person then doesn't understand why people wont accept him/her because of one silly flaw, skill or notion of being new to the mission. It's like being told you're not good enough because you have blue dyed armor, not silver. That, and only then, could I see someone get to the point of crying because the majority of the people were just complete GO RED ENGINES.

The problem here isn't just with him. it sounds like she doesn't play very well and probably needs to practice with people who are not jerks. He wants to win. She just wants to play. That never mixes well. Remind him it's just a game and let him leave if he wants to be in one of the uber pvp guilds. There he will have people yelling at him for making mistakes and he will be among other people who can take it and dish it out.

First, I must say, that its a game, even if you knew someone for 2 years and they started yelling at you, you shouldn't cry. If you don't know them in rl, chances are that they are having problems outside of the game and are jerks for venting it out on a friend.
Second, no I have never cried due to GW. If people try to piss me off, I end up laughing, and I never have laughed hard enough to cry that way. People who are asses on GW without a reason to be are just pathetic.
Third, I think your guildie should buy your friend a flower (from pre ). Kiss and make up now. (No need to get upset over a silly game >.>)

Honestly, why didn't your friend just mute him instead of listening to one asshat's rant.
Working yourself up to cry is almost as much your fault as it is his for putting up with their shit. (I apologize in advance if I just made anyone cry...)
People are very easy to ignore...

Agreed. The leader needs to be the guiding force and should be looked up to in terms of integrity and stability. Leaders cannot go off on raging tangents. They also need to control their followers; they need to be able to lay down the law if the situation arises.

Its just some random person on the web. If i type a load of insulting shit here, i dont think anyone will cry (or will they0.o) so i dont see why you would if they say it on TS/Vent instead.

My boyfriend. Yet he was in the adjoining room - internet annonyminity kind of went out of the window for him.

have i cried? no
have i made others cry? yes
i once made a female guildie cry by saying: "learn to kite". she and her boyfriend raised such a stink that i got kicked.
my consolation: that guild never went on the ladder again.

PvP turns people into monsters.
Notice how after any type of PvP (GvG, HA, TA, RA, AB) someone will start insulting a player on the opposite side?
I always find the pathetic insults amusing......... Especially the "Geek" stereotype of living at home with mom + single.... When that is the total opposite for me and most people I know who play video games...
I think PvP brings out the competitive nature in people. No one likes to lose, and as a result they get upset when they lose. I don't know the exact circumstances described in the original post, but if she sucks then someone needs to point that out.... In a competitive atmosphere the key to success is improving by analyzing why/how you lost after each battle. If you lose, and then go back into HA/TA/GvG/Whatever then you will most likely make the same errors again because you didn't correct them.

It sounds like your friend had other issues to sort out before logging into a game...

Sometimes this can create irritated feelings because at first the 'serious' one probably will crop up his anger, because he doesn't want to be 'that one'. But if this goes on too much the bubble explodes.
To answer the question, never. I do have a strong kindof feeling with my current guild, but i also know i will be supported if anyone from withing starts being unreasonable. (different of course if you are a prick and someone tells you that you are:P ) Apart from that I really don't think i could (really) cry for something in games. Not even if i lost everything i have gathered (apart from that i don't have anything since i don't farm). I just will be pissed of and never return to the game .

in pvp there is a team that must always lose (or draw w/e but u still lose)
in pve just respawn and try again.
maybe pve did not show his competitive side

Nothing has made me cry in Guild Wars. I was thinking of saying something about this thread, but it would probably be a nono.
