First, I must say, that its a game, even if you knew someone for 2 years and they started yelling at you, you shouldn't cry. If you don't know them in rl, chances are that they are having problems outside of the game and are jerks for venting it out on a friend.

Second, no I have never cried due to GW. If people try to piss me off, I end up laughing, and I never have laughed hard enough to cry that way. People who are asses on GW without a reason to be are just pathetic.

Third, I think your guildie should buy your friend a flower (from pre ). Kiss and make up now. (No need to get upset over a silly game >.>)

Honestly, why didn't your friend just mute him instead of listening to one asshat's rant.

Working yourself up to cry is almost as much your fault as it is his for putting up with their shit. (I apologize in advance if I just made anyone cry...)

But knowing this humble guildie for 2 years….and seeing him express his ill-logic anger directly to my friend …I am human after all and do share a common courtesy of sorrow for a friend…

If expressing sorrow is possible, or even happiness when you get a good drop… crying is more than possible!

Have to disagree with this statement, it only promotes poor sportsmanship. While there’s not much that can be done to curb this behavior it falls to the other players be it guild members or some one else who needs to step in and intervene and discourage this type of behavior. It’s lead by example or don’t lead at all. Poor sportsmanship is getting worse and it ruins the integrity of any competitive game.

Agreed. The leader needs to be the guiding force and should be looked up to in terms of integrity and stability. Leaders cannot go off on raging tangents. They also need to control their followers; they need to be able to lay down the law if the situation arises.

Its just some random person on the web. If i type a load of insulting shit here, i dont think anyone will cry (or will they0.o) so i dont see why you would if they say it on TS/Vent instead.

have i cried? no

have i made others cry? yes

i once made a female guildie cry by saying: "learn to kite". she and her boyfriend raised such a stink that i got kicked.

my consolation: that guild never went on the ladder again.

PvP turns people into monsters.

Notice how after any type of PvP (GvG, HA, TA, RA, AB) someone will start insulting a player on the opposite side?

I always find the pathetic insults amusing......... Especially the "Geek" stereotype of living at home with mom + single.... When that is the total opposite for me and most people I know who play video games...

I think PvP brings out the competitive nature in people. No one likes to lose, and as a result they get upset when they lose. I don't know the exact circumstances described in the original post, but if she sucks then someone needs to point that out.... In a competitive atmosphere the key to success is improving by analyzing why/how you lost after each battle. If you lose, and then go back into HA/TA/GvG/Whatever then you will most likely make the same errors again because you didn't correct them.

Yeah, 'cause people on the internet aren't real people. It happens and others have to accept the hard fact that people can form a bond with another person hundreds of miles away no matter how unhealthy it may or may not be. And let's face it, there are a whole lot of younger people playing this game.

OT: I've cried from laughter, but not because I've been that upset. There are lots of interesting and funny people to laugh with/at here.

There he will have people yelling at him for making mistakes and he will be among other people who can take it and dish it out.
Exactly the case and the point a lot of people are missing here. It's not her playing bad, or him being a jerk. They both have different goals; he probably wants to level up the PvP part of the guild (or his own pvp experiences), where as she just wants to have some interaction with her guild vs other non-npc's. (I can imagine).

Sometimes this can create irritated feelings because at first the 'serious' one probably will crop up his anger, because he doesn't want to be 'that one'. But if this goes on too much the bubble explodes.

To answer the question, never. I do have a strong kindof feeling with my current guild, but i also know i will be supported if anyone from withing starts being unreasonable. (different of course if you are a prick and someone tells you that you are:P ) Apart from that I really don't think i could (really) cry for something in games. Not even if i lost everything i have gathered (apart from that i don't have anything since i don't farm). I just will be pissed of and never return to the game .

He must have never been exposed to losing before...
in pvp there is a team that must always lose (or draw w/e but u still lose)
in pve just respawn and try again.
maybe pve did not show his competitive side

I mean, I can take it (check my email inbox for example... yes I laugh when you forum users email me screaming and cursing myself, my family and my dog for a ban). But I am really really bad at dishing it out. My feeble attempts have been laughed at many times in IRC.
Go Inde!

Although I can't check your email inbox so I can't laugh at ban victims.

Nothing has made me cry in Guild Wars. I was thinking of saying something about this thread, but it would probably be a nono.
