No, I have never scammed. I've bought items for less than I believe that I could resell the items for, but I don't consider that scamming as the other person was fully aware of the amount they were getting for the trade.

Have I ever scammed? No. QUite the contrary, I tend to help folks out and cut prices if they can't afford something, tip high for speedy runs, give things away for free and tell people when they could get a better price for what thet are asking...scamming is just another example of how ANONYMITY+INTERNET=ASSHOLE

To me "scamming" has nothing to do with an item's "worth". If I ask 100k for an item someone thinks is worth only 10k that is NOT a scam. Just do not buy from me. If I agree to buy something for 100k but instead offer 100g that IS a scam, attempting to deceive someone out of their gold/item/etc.

And no, I have never scammed. I once bought 80 lockpicks for 100g by accident, pm'd the guy and gave him the other 99,900 before he noticed it.

If you count buying stuff lower than their "supposed true value", then yes. But the amounts aren't ever that magnificent.

Well not really scammed but the stupidity of the GW community is quite funny. Twice it happened to me that they would pay me for my item in the first trade and in the second trade i would give them their item. Was selling a Q9 Obsidian Blade at the time so i got 100k+125e.

I never have tried to scam anyone, or even think about it.
That being said, if someone was selling a stack of ectos for 1k each, I'd buy them all in a heartbeat and not tell them that they're losing money.

Only time I ever felt like I was scamming ish... was when I was solo farming the ghials staff at like 90k down to 25k days. I could easily get 4 a night. I just kept telling people the guild was farming them and I'd let them know when we got another to sell. Ain...

But never tried to traded someone 100g instead of 100k or anything of the sort.

I've bought stuff truly underpriced only if I really wanted them otherwise I normally tell them they should look up the price.

It's not like I'd ever rob a bank or embezzle in real life. I'm sure whoever I took 50k away from in Guild Wars will eventually get over it, and those people probably have quit the game by now.

I remember once i sold a sword (it was a low level one, about 10kish in price) and i eventually sold it to a noob in Old Ascalon. Long story short, he traded me two mini's for it, then gave me 5k extra and asked me if i could "hold onto the sword and the money so he could get it on a different account." I could've walked away with the sword, two mini's, and 5k profit, but i waited for him to switch chars/accounts, and gave him his gold/sword.

Is it scamming to take advantage of other player's blatent stupidity? I don't think so. I don't do it anyways, because I've made mistakes too when trading...just not ones that stupid.

Edit: just remembered, it was a Draconic Scythe I was trading.

Sure. You won't rob a bank or embezzle in real life. There are actual consequences for that in the real world.

However, I would bet dollars to donuts that you wouldn't hesitate in taking money out of a wallet you found laying on the street. I would expect that you wouldn't hesitate in keeping the extra $5 that the cashier accidentally gave to you but you noticed...

1. I work at a theater, and find money on the ground all the time. Although I've never found more than $5 at once, but the general rule of thumb for all employees is, if it's $10 or less, it's yours, if it's more, lost & found". I also find wallets, palm pilots, credit cards, etc. twice a day at least. I always take them to the lost & found, and I've never taken money out of wallets or anything I've found. The only item of "value" I've found on the ground and kept was a pocketknife.

2. I was at Arby's last week and the cashier screwed up and gave me $10.22 (or whatever) change instead of $1.22, and I pointed out the mistake, because I know if his till was off by $9 at the end of the night he probably would have been in a bit of trouble with management.

So how do you justify your actions? Why the discrepancy?

What in your mind makes you "do the right thing" in the real world yet you turn a blind eye when playing a game?

The closest I have ever been and ever will get is accepting trades where the seller was offering to sell cheaper than the items actual worth.
I have on occasion sold items myself, only to later find out I had sold them way too cheap, so that goes both ways! Never felt cheated by anyone but myself when that has happened.

Telling someone they are selling too cheap before the trade - is very kind!
Telling someone they sold too cheap after the trade - is sadistic!

Because the real world has consequences and actually makes a difference in people's lives. The Intertubez are not serious business.

Low and behold, about 1/2 hour ago a guy by the name of "Tyrael Swiftblade" tried to scam me out of 54k. was gonna sell a Shield of the Hierophant to him for 60k, he showed 60k, closed trade to "talk to a friend about it" then reopened with 6k showing. I asked him to show 60k, and he got scared, called me a noob, and fled.

My point being, it wasn't me scamming when he offered 10k more than my Obo price, but it was scamming when he tried to bait and switch me.

I didn't scam, he did. He got reported, too.

I'd say treating people with respect and common decency is pretty serious business though. But I'll freely admit that is just my opinion.

I have never scammed anybody. However, I did use to get minipets cheap from people who were willing to sell for "less than the normal price". Mini yeti and naga for like 100k+50e back in the day, resold for +80 each.

Only sneaky trade I've ever done wasn't to benefit me. I snuck some money into a trade with a guildie that wouldn't knowingly accept it. Waited for him to need a mod I just happened to have and thinking he was just accepting the mod, he got the money too.

The only time I've ever refused to pay someone for something was Gate of Madness. I needed the bonus and was having some trouble alone, and some people were offering to just run it. I even asked if that included the bonus (standing there in my primeval armor). Guy told me to wait at the beginning, did the mission and then at the end discussed with his team if they wanted to do the bonus. They all said no or that they didn't need it. I said "20k says do the bonus." They skipped it and then the guy opens trade with me in the outpost. "20k?" he says, and I say "bonus?" "No," he tells me. So I put 20g in the box. He canceled trade. WTF did he think I needed?

Hey Mallyx [icU]

Never. Had a couple of nice chances, though.

A long time ago, while buying my first sup vigor for 60k, I ended up trading some bones for that rune. Apparently the seller had more than 40k on him, and we didn't know about the 100k limit. Upon realising what happened, I promptly opened trade and offered the rune and he did the same with my bones. After dumping his gold into the storage and completing the trade, he said he thought I would log out and steal the rune. Lucky for him I'm not an idiot.

Also, when Nightfall came out and Elemental sword was THE sword to have a friend of mine got a req 9 one. Whispered me if I wanted to buy it for like 20k. Coming straight out of PvP he didn't know the thing had a value of 800k. Told him to put it up on GWG auctions. Eventually, he sold it for 850k.

I'll never see the point in scamming, stealing or even this "if they're not informed" hypocrisy.

I am the kind of person who cannot scammed people, even if I do, I'll probably return stuffs to them the next day with ectos and gold and a long apology, yeah, I would not put myself thru that. Its dishonorable.

So if you have scammed anyone at all, I think its time to make amends one of you might have scammed me! by putting 500g in the trade box when you should be putting 5k

I've scammed by accident before. On a few occasions when buying things for say.... X.5k, I've unwittingly payed X.005k and they've unwittingly accepted. I've always corrected myself and payed the rest afterward though.

I've been ACCUSED of scamming by tons of newbies who don't realize that you have to click "submit offer" before the other person can see it.... Morons...

i think the biggest difference between scamming on purpose and making a mistake is what you do afterwards. if you put in 1k and 5 gold for a 1.5k item (i've done that before) you should make every attempt to fix the problem. if you purposely put in 5k instead of 50k, then it's scamming. scamming's bad, mmk?

Around the time when Totem axes started to drop I was trying to sell a couple of those for a friend, the going price back then was 10k- 20k.

Anyways some guy offered me a "minipet" + 12k, the minipet happened to be a Kuunavang, I took it and never looked back, gave the 12k to my friend and kept the minipet (yes I never told him). >.>;;
