I don't care for the subtitle Guild Wars '2'. I think its bad marketing and doesn't sound inviting to a new gamer. Lets assume Guild Wars '2' is merely a 'working subtitle', I've come up with 3 different subtitles that I think would be so much better than just '2'.
Guild Wars: Revelations
Revelations is basically another word for Prophecies. I figured it would be a ideal name because Guild Wars 2 is basically a do over for ArenaNet and the subtitle pertains to the storyline.
Guild Wars: New Age
New Age is kinda bland but it speaks the truth, this is indeed going to be a whole new generation of people and creatures. Its certainly better than just having '2' as a subtitle.
Guild Wars: Primordus
Anyone who gotten far in the current game or knows the lore, knows who Primordus is. I can only assume the next chapter in the game would be about Primordus. I also find it fitting that Primordus is variation of the word prime, which would be a suitable subtitle if they plan to add expansion campaigns.
If you got a better subtitle please share. Also I'm not looking for negative comments regarding the Guild Wars name itself. Yeah, we've heard it all before.
Change GUILD WARS 2 name to....
5 pages • Page 1
Those are nice, but they don't sound like a sequel. They sound like a new chapter to GW1 (I'd love any of those as a new chapter name to be honest). But you're right, the 2 just tacked on to the name just doesn't look right, especially in a fantasy setting. I'd say something like Guild Wars II. Numbers are bad, but you can't go wrong with Roman numerals.
Signed, Operative XIV
P.S. Guild Wars: The Next Generation would also suit me.

I think they should keep GW2 and then add a sublitle. |
I just think pinning a sequel on it would make it unappealing to new gamers. I understand the need for ArenaNet to separate the original game to new one because of compatibility issues, but I don't think they should sweep the original series under the proverbial rug as if it was a failure. I think they should embrace the lore.
