If there was one mistake I made, its assuming people agreed with me that the name needed changing in the first place. I should have left an option for people to vote leave it as Guild Wars 2. It probably would've cut down on the negativity and prevalent sarcasm that the Internet traffics.

Quite frankly I don't care what they call it - people go by previews, reviews and friends opinions when buying a game,- not names.
Look at the movies and games coming out these days, most have a number following the title!
... actually now that I think about it I prefer the name Guild Wars 2 - that way it is implied that it is not just a new chapter or expansion to the old game!

Guild Wars 2 basically starts fresh too. It'll help grab new players because they think it's a whole new concept.
Yeah, you don't need to have played guild wars before to jump right into say, Factions or Nightfall, but new players probably don't feel that way. Guild Wars 2 has a more definitive feel, one that separates it from the original. (Except the fact is that its still guild wars!)

We know crap-all about the storyline, other than there will be a couple of races, and something about Ancient Dragons killing stuff. We have no idea what we'll actually be doing; are we fighting other races, killing off one dragon, killing off multiple dragons, killing off all of the dragons, what? I say leave the creative stuff to the people who a) are paid professionals, and b) actually have a clue as to what the game will be about.
