Has there seriously been no GW2 news?
Zinger314
I'm astounded that ArenaNet (and NCSoft too) has fallen completely out of the limelight. Seriously, when was the last time that they had concrete information about GW2, 2006?
Neo Nugget
I thought I heard somewhere that they were filling in what happens in between GW 1 and 2 with books or something. I'll try to dig it up.
Gamewise, I don't think so. Nothing big at least.
Edit: Must be going crazy, I can't find it.

I think after the fans got pissed off about that unlimited levels things and being generally depressed about Anet's ability to get GW2 right they have pretty much shut up.

Your not going crazy
It was announced in that video on the press conference that was linked here.

The last information that has anything to do with GW2, which is extremely little, was teh Q&A video from the PAX thing that's on the guildwars.com.
Other than that, there has been nothing.
I think it's due to people QQ'ing about things, so they don't want any more annoyances, as winterclaw said.
I think it's a good move to keep quiet until they have a good amount of info to release.

i think if people see something that turns them off enough before the game comes out they wont buy it. and i'm sure, whether they say it or not, they are counting on early sales to people that end up not liking it and quit playing for one reason or another.
I for one will play it no matter what, because i have a relative (jesse christensen, enviorn artist) that works for a-net, and i like playing, so why not support it.

I'm sure a lot of us are pretty amazed about getting no information about gw2. Even if it wasn't something great but they should at least throw something out there. To keep our spirits up at least lol. Guess were just ganna have to wait it out.
Mister_Smiley
Aion come out the end of this month, alot hype about it, they don't want to take away from it, so no news on gw2 won't hurt it, of course this is what i am thinking. Mabey end of the year or something.
Edit: I am wrong, the date for AION is still TBA.

I think with all of these delays, they're just trying to work on it really hard, so they have something significant to show us so we won't get mad when they show us what they have.
I think it was a good and a bad thing they delayed the beta to before release. Good, since there won't be too many glitches with beta and almost everything is complete, but bad since almost everything is set into stone and most of the suggestions that we make won't be accounted for.
That's just my theory on the the GW2 news.

Don't think many people really care about a title rebalance. Even more when Linsey isn't even sure that it's possible to make Treasure Hunter and Wisdom account based.

i want to play a game not read a RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOing book, RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO you anet
fenix
I find it strange that they announced GW2 like, a year ago or something, and since then there hasn't even been CONCEPT art, let alone any solid information. Are they actually making a game? Because I would assume not.
.defekt
I dont know fenix, apparently they're making books, maybe they'll be like those Goosebumps choose your own adventure books
Operative 14
Let's not forget we found out that GW2 has a 'robust' crafting system from that German article that came out three or so months ago.
Other than that, not any new information pertaining to GW2. Though the books are interesting, but there is even less information about them.

If you look at all the stuff they've released/shown/etc for Diablo III and Starcraft 2, wtf are ANet doing? Do they even know how to make games any more?
slowerpoke
gw2 wont exist untill we see ingame footage
no concept art doesnt count, when did that ever resemble end product

True, but usually a company puts out a whole BUNCH of concept art really early on. ANet hasn't, which leads me to believe that they really haven't done much of anything on GW2. They DID delay it a year, after all...
aTT!kus
i can't recall any other game where it has been announced and then no further info/art/details following within a year. O wait, yes i can, but those games are ones that were canceled.....
wind fire and ice
No real news, atleast it will be a good game(maybe)..any thing you spend this much time on has to be decent.
Luminarus
This is Anets biggest stuff up. They shouldnt have announced gw2 so early. They should have released eotn then mentioned gw2 coz its been 18 months since announced and nothing new has come out. Unless they are going to surprise us with beta in early 09 they are pretty much gonna have no client base left.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diablo_III
Diablo III has been in development for 3 years. Of course they are going to be on a more advanced time table then GW 2. I mean, GW 1 was only out for a few months. You seriously think A.net was working on the sequel before they even released the first game and found out it would be a huge success?
A.net made one major mistake. They said that they would release new stuff every 6 months. When they decided to stop doing that, they had to come up with an excuse to justify thier actions. Their answer was annoucing GW2. However, that annoucenemnt came WAY to early (relatively speaking compared to the time tables used by most MMOs).
Honestly, if A.net HADN'T announced GW2 and was still keeping it a secret, everybody right now would be complaining about how "ZOMG GW is DEAD, a.net doesn't care, why didn't they release Utopia, they don't care about us, they butchered/raped/spit on MY precious video game (*cough* which they created). Blah blah blah you melodramtic people.
I mean, maybe it has something to do with the fact that there are more NEW games coming out that people might be interested in. You honestly think teenagers have a long enough attention span to not be drawn into the next new thing. It has nothing to do with THIS game, and everything to do with the fact that this game exists in a COMPETITIVE market.
And finally I leave you all with this link http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/FanDumb

Actually I remember Gaile saying that they had been working on GW2 already for at least a year before they announced it, much like they had been working on Nightfall 2-3 years before release, etc etc.
Kerwyn Nasilan
Obviously GW2 was announced to help hype EotN, and they have not yet begun work on it.

^^ hopefully not.. generally, things that spend this long in development in the video game world falls flat
heck when PCGamer did that feature however long ago it was now, i was so hyped for the game. now, a year later? i've beaten the 3 campaigns (bought factions and nightfall over the summer.. haha, 32 months proph only for me) and things are getting stale because i'm in a small clan that doesn't do elite areas...
something new has to come out. like, screenshot or even concept art.

Actually, I think if they had released EotN (or dare I say Utopia) without simultaneously announcing GW2, I think the customer base would feel a bit more secure. Yes, after 6 months people might have been wondering what was going on. But that would have been the time to let slip that GW2 was in development and left it at that. Or just said "We're working on a big project" and let us speculate ourselves to death for another few months until they released their first piece of concept art. It certainly would have been more exciting than more than a year and a half worth of recycled information.
It seemed like they really over hyped GW2 for a while. For about 2 months it was almost as if every site you went to had a new article about GW:EN and, in conjunction, GW2. That's fine, but it seems like they made a big deal out of it and just dropped it for more than a year without any new information. If nothing else, they could have made a bigger splash about what concept art they have released, like this piece for Divinity's Reach.

to be honest, if tarnished coast was utopia, that would have been pretty crappy..

Would be stupid for them to put out info. Things change over time, ideas and plans might not work out, if any or at all. They are right to keep their mouth shut.
Doesn't anyone remember Fable? He kept running his mouth about it, showing this and that and then when we finally get the game. Its NOTHING like he was saying it was gonna be.

I probably wouldn't care so much about them releasing info on what they were doing with GW2 if I saw them trying to get feedback about things that they're doing with it.
Then again, that would require them to tell us something about it.
O, sh-.

Oh, Avarre, your letter was too dramatic! ANet doesn't really need to communicate with the playerbase, they'll keep giving out money!
ARE YOU SO SURE?
Ah, but I'm just inciting feelings. Now, who wants to go make disintegration wizards in D3 and shoot lasers?

I think they should atleast tell us wat they have so far because im getting really anxious with news about GW2. I mean some of the history of GW2 makes me want to learn more but since they havent updated their status im very sad

In all great honesty....
Anet, you're a bunch of marketing failures.
By the time your half-baked, unbalanced product comes out in 2012, I won't be buying it, because I stopped caring in 2008.
Sorry, I'll be playing zerg against some funny kid from Singapore (HI AVARRE) who doesn't realize that A+click isn't the way to win games. SCII, HERE I COME
