How many people want a-net to ban yeti sounds?

Yeah they can close/remove my topic, that saves me the embarrasment thinking this community could make a statement.

Cant ban people for a feature Anet themselves implemented. Anet should change the way the tonic sounds work, or, implement a feature where you can turn off tonic-specific sounds.

I enjoy the music and environmental sounds that are a part of GW... It's nice to listen to. "NGGAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!" ... Isn't.
Ban the stupid sound, it's morally inscensative to those of us with the Wooki complex.

If you have any suggestions, you're free to pm me. I just bought an extra account that can serve as bank for sponsorship. Every transaction should be printscreened ofcourse. Same with the buying and destroying of a yeti. It should be all documentated. Yes we can

On a serious note, I think an OPTION to turn off tonic sounds in town couldn't be a bad thing, though I have no idea how difficult it would be to implement; even seemingly simple things can be relatively difficult to program.
Also, to the people who were saying stuff about how its like people being loud in the middle of the night.....try moving out of your nice, suburban middle-class neighborhoods LOL. In something like an apartment complex or even a college dorm, you DO have people playing techno at 2 am......and thats on one of the more tame nights

Changed your argument, which can also be used to support account hacking:
You can easily annoy others in real life by just punching everyone around you on the streets then laugh at them. You can pretty much guarantee that they would be annoyed. So the argument to support this becomes:
For those who say we should support it because of "freedom", are you saying people should be allowed to beat up, shoot, kill, rape, and do whatever they feel like doing to anyone else? That is anarchy, not true freedom, and a society built on that would never work.
Quote:
The only, ONLY reason people are hacking your accounts, is because all of you are getting so mad about it. If you didn't care, they hack your account, because there would be no reaction from it. This should give you a hint.

Allow them to make sounds outside of a town, just like minipets. I remember the horrible constant screeching of Kuunavang in Lions Arch, which prompted me to play the game in silence. It was a shame since I actually enjoyed some of the ambient music in certain outposts....I was very happy when they decided to remove those sounds.

i paid for the game so why should i go find another district or turn my sound of or even effects of sounds off.. these people that use yeti tonics are just kids with nothing better to do. if not ban the yeti noise maybe have someone the keeps repeating/abusing the yeti should get a ban. it's so annoying and such a pet peave . go ahead and flame away.. im nuts and ill prove it and its an opinion. i do leave the disctrict but why should i have to change my sound because of a bunch of kids or change my district.
i have better idea..ban all the kiddies from the game or take their ice cream away.

As for the "freedom" argument: this is a game. Comparing assault, murder, and rape to yeti sounds in a video game is about as idiotic as it gets.

I didnt even know they made sounds,,, I never have the sound on GW
Tullzinski
Guess I should turn up my sound, but if it sounds anything like my kids making the same sound over and over and over then...

Aye, this too. Remove Hero Rank and Zaishen Rank emotes.

I remember when skeletons first came out, and I thought they were borderline too annoying, but the yeti tonic goes over the line, then spits on it. Think sounds should be put on a timer, like /rank and /zrank, or like mentioned b4 add an option to remove the sounds of tonics.

That was the most rediculous post I've seen in a long time. Comparing a game to real life fails anyway...but your comparisons have absolutely nothing to do with the topic.
-People don't hack accounts to be annoying.
-Punching random people and laughing would either get yourself knocked out, or in jail for assult.
Comparing a minor in-game annoyance to serious crimes ftw xD
At least it was entertaining though. ^^
To stay on topic I stand by my idea...sounds made by the tonics are only heard by the person using them.

Anet killed large tonics on wintersday because of all the tards ingame last year. This shows that they care. (I hope!)
Plz plz plz Anet, kill the yeti! Idk wtf you were thinking but just hit 'em with the mute-stick, and all is forgiven.

The first would be false because this is a co-operative game, there are many ways to be annoying.
The second would show what kind of person you are.
The biggest difference between game and real life is, in the game you can usually get away with it for lesser consequences than in real life. If you are annoying in town, in real life, you get beaten up or thrown in jail. In the game, you can get away with it. But does that mean we should all be as annoying as possible simply because we can get away with it?
R.Shayne
I have to agree this does need to be fixed. As for now I am happy just to report these idiots for spamming.
Neo Nugget
No, I think that is a rediculous idea. It's not that big of a deal.

Okay, then change punching to shouting loud. It would be considered a disturbing behaviour and you would be punished by fine.

And don't get me wrong. I agree that the tonics should be stfu. It's the comparing a loud yeti in a game to a real life crime that is stupid.

So are you saying because it is a game, there no way you can annoy your fellow players OR are you saying because it is game, it is OK to annoy your fellow players?

What gives them the right to force us to turn off our PC speakers or drive us out of the district?
The game should encourage people to be considerate and not spam. Not making spammers more effective and annoying, forcing the rest of us to have to accomodate them if we want to play the game.

How many people want to ban the people who cry about stupid shit like tonic sounds?

Um...I think YOU'RE the one that doesn't get it. I AGREE that it's stupid that we have to turn off our sounds, and that they should somehow end it. I even gave a suggestion how to do it in the first post I made here... >_>
What I thought was stupid, was changing that guy's quotes to fit (even though they didn't really fit) situations that didn't even apply to this topic, and comparing game issues to crimes.

And as for your argument on crimes, you can still find many annoying things that you can do without resorting to crimes even in the real world. Are you saying it is ok to be annoying as long as it is not a crime to do so?
You can use your computer as a tool to annoy people on internet. You can also use your phone as a tool to call up and annoy people listed on the phonebook too. Either way, is still bad. If ANet can prevent this Yeti exploit with a simple fix, then they should.

Temporary solution is just to turn off sounds in town within one's Options. Really only applies to a few towns. Its something Anet need to look at in the long run in terms of Options settings for GW2. It would be nice to be able to turn off player initiated sounds while still having others on.

About comparing game to real-life. It it certainly an exaggeration but it can be done into a valid argument nevertheless. When in a game, you're still communicating with other human beings, so their rights don't stop there. Some people forget that and just hide behind their screens.

People should not be banned for using Yeti sounds. That is ridiculous. Make it so they can only use it once every "X" minutes. Restrict the number of Yeti Tonics that can be used in a district. Preventive measures is a much more sound and sensible way to handle this. Banning players for making redundant sounds is just spiteful.

I'm also doing it only cause you're being annoyed. Try going deaf or stop being so annoyed, then I will probably stop shouting.
Not suggesting to ban users, but "banning" sounds. Although I have nothing against reporting yeti sound-abusers while the feature isn't implemented.

Yes, please turn them off.
If you don't play with sounds, you're bad at the game. It's easier to hear an aegis go off than see the animation or someone casting it at times, etc..
Forget GW music, but skill sounds are key, and Yeti just happens to be under a sound that also are part of skill sounds.

Can't this be made into a poll so we don't have to read every post to know how we all feel on it. Personally I'm getting sick of switching districts every time a Yeti appears when I'm trying to sell things in peace. Plus I don't think I should have to change my audio settings just because of an annoying as hell tonic.
