April Update Anticipation thread

Nerfs all around for GvG - destruction of Turret Rangers, Warrior's Endurance, Water Mesmers, and Stand ritualists.
Nerf the hell out of all of that, then a nice huge random dartboard buff, like 200+ skills buffed to make for massive build variety.
and then add in a Chaos Sword, and make it so that as long as you have it equipped, Livin' on a Prayer by Bon Jovi plays on repeat.
That would truly be the most amazing update in history.

If there is no armour storage there is no justice.

Runes/insignias/inscriptions/weapon mods all have a different value when identified (like weapon/armour drops do). I suspect this means that they NEVER will be able to be stackable - what value do you put on the stack when every single item in it can have a different value? How do you track that? |
Also, Armor and Book storage would be <3.

I expect some minor storage changes, along with the HoM update, which I've been looking forward to.
What I hope we get is some sort of content that makes me want to play again. =(

Usually when you stack things, you stack identical things. On a code basis, you store a single number to represent the number of items, and the items are all exactly identical. i.e. "item A" x 3.
Runes are not identical. Take 3 minor runes of absorbtion as an example - one identified to be worth 53g, one to be worth 32g and one to be worth 26g. You can't just say "I have 3 minor absorbtion runes worth a random amount of gold each"...you either lose information completely (what they were worth) or open yourself to exploits that way (identify, don't like the values of those last two, stack those two, unstack, re-identify for a "new" random value on those last two)...
Don't get me wrong - I'd love them to be able to stack too - but they are NOT identical items despite having the same functionality. Which is why I'd be (pleasantly) surprised if they ever did stack.

Normally I would expect:
-Character storage is probably just some way to store those damned "written evidence" books, complaints about which were probably what caused them realize that maybe we really got too small storage space.
-Account storage is maybe 1 new tab, but likely to be specialized instead of general, for example minipets / dyes / skill tomes. Plus making some things stackable and increasing stack sizes for basic materials.
-HoM finally getting the Account-based instance, but nothing else than that.
-Some small surprises like... More tonics/ summoning stones/ minipets...
-And no worthwhile skill updates so imba remains imba and what's useless stays useless.
But we keep hearing Linsey and other Anet staff being really EXCITED about this update, so there's a chance it's more than that.
EDIT:
The stackability issue. IMHO all identical weapon upgrades, inscriptions (other than "Show me the Money") and maybe Insignia should be stackable - give them all a fixed merch price 25g.
But runes don't need to be stackable, they should remain as they are, as for Majors and Superiors the price difference after identifying makes quite a difference, and there's no reason for anyone to hold a stack of multiple identical runes, especially since Heroes are such an awesome Rune/Insignia storage.

Simple solution: do not give them variable costs. (25g-blue, 50g-purple, 100g-gold). fullstop. |
I like getting that additional money

The values for blue and gold runes are always higher than those suggested by zwei2stein, and purples are often (though not always) higher as well.
As a player, we'd be losing money if they set all runes to the trader-bought rune's value. Same goes for inscriptions, weapon mods & insignias - which seem to be priced like blue runes.
But this is getting a bit off topic now.

The problem is, no one I know, or have heard of, collects piles of runes/insignia/upgrades. So to make them stackable, or to make a storage for them, would be totally useless for a huge number of players. It needs to be something everyone can use, as opposed to a select few who (for some strange reason) collect heaps of runes/insignia/upgrades for.....whatever reason they collect them....
The best bet would be a better storage system for Armor, be it an extra bag that holds armor, or a storage slot with room for a few sets.
Either way, I really dislike the stackable runes idea, as it's useless.

It is usually clear whether salvaging and selling a rune or selling the original armor piece will yield the greater return. Playing more than three years, I have never gone so far as to identify a rune after salvaging. It is unnecessary, and runes and insignia still should become stackable. Inscriptions and upgrades are a different story, though.

I definetly want a "last mob finder" for vq... seriously this is sometime a real pain to find them. Could be like ping where the next closest mob is if not in range.
And the super-uber:

I would lo to see this !!

Something clever they could do is start to use the Hall of Monuments as storage. Example:
- You can create a set of unsalvageable/sellable armor from any enshrined armor sets for your char.
- I'd like this for weapons too but I can already see people complaining about torment shields dropping price when leet pvpers don't need to buy 9 or 10 of them.
- You can create customized (untradable) minis from your mini shrine.
Any of these options as-is requires no additional data storage to implement.

Great, a topic more than a month in advance, maybe two if it goes live in the end of April. Now we can build up expectations so high only to be disapointed.
My expectations: * Increases to account-based storage * Improvements to character-based storage * Account-based changes to the Hall of Monuments |
Tbh, I'm not even that happy about what we were promised, but w/e at least it's something. If I had a wishlist, here's what it'd be.
*New Weapon Skins (if this doesn't happen, then they're just getting lazy)
*Decent Skill updates that aren't just a reaction to poor balancing
*Kurz and Luxon Armor for Dervishes and Paragons (this will never happen, that's why this is a wish list)

I know the animal storage has been mentioned many times but i believe the problem would be when it comes to saving animals with their level, name and type (hearty, dire etc) it would take up alot of unnessary space...(or other resources). Although they could do an unlock feature where it just creates a blank lvl 20 pet for that species which would be more efficent.
EDIT:
also fenix hit the point, who on earth has stacks of these things it would be a waste
If you didn't care about the title before HoM then this is the point in the update. It allows you to use the title from another character as a monument. Likewise for the people talking about destroyer weapons.

And a billion of gold into my monk's other titles means I aint gonna delete it to get survivor now. |

I have only three problems when it comes to storage:
- Armor. I can't make them all. After some of them, I'll have to discard the older ones. I want to keep all armors I craft.
- Miniatures. They are quite a lot.
- Weapon upgrades. Buying them from players is either slow or impossible. Storing them it's also impossible. A trader is a must for them.

I second allowing dedicated Destroyer and Tormented Weapons to be used account wide. My first character, which I NEVER play anymore, has like 8 Destroyer Weapons that I can't use... :/

Myself and Linsey have addressed questions about titles (adding more, making more account-wide) many times. We have no intention of adding more titles or making more titles account wide right now, so please don't expect them for the April update. For more on titles and other frequent requests, please see this list.

I do hope there is a surprise in the update though, those are always fun.

After 40 mounths i expect new elite areas, new explorable zones so new weapons, armors. People will left the game as do not want to wait since 2010/11 for gw2.........this is my opinion. Forgot something new in pvp too

I know some items, collectable drops and such, have set buy/sell prices, but maybe since there are traders of runes, the prices and costs of them fluctuate due to the supply/demand? And this fluctuation can be seen in your inventory as well?

Regarding storage, I would like the ability to move mutiple items at once.
An example being: Click and drag a backpack, beltpouch, bag to storage, prompting:
Would you like to empty all contents of backpack/beltpouch/bag into storage?
or vice versa
Would you like to move all contents of storage slot I,II,III,IV into backpack/beltpouch/bag?
Storage space will always be limited, so I would rather have a faster and more efficient way to move items around.

So that people can move on to another game and be prepared for GW2. Plus some money for ANet.
Ridiculous? Yes.
... but actually, people suggest a lot things that go in the direction of making titles easier to achieve, which SADLY seems to be the only thing to do left in this game?

I could see reasoning behind making sweet tooth account wide only because a large majority of sweet tooth items are for removing dp or boosting attributes but oh well. I hate thinking every time I use a candy cane on another char that there is one less point I'll have for my title character.

I hope consumables, wisdom and treasure hunter title requirements to be displayed in HoM will be lowered : 10k seems a bit much compared to the other titles (r2 for luck, r3 for zaichen, r3 for gamer...).
I hope they'll make survivor possible for older characters (even if I know this won't happen).

Linsey quotes on the subject from the 2008 thread Shadowmoon linked above.
Quote:
I think this (“incubator” like item to hold armor) is a really cool idea, but I don't think that the class of item you are talking about (we call them "book items" internally) could handle storing information like runes or insignias with their current implementation. It would require either a big overhaul of the existing code or to completely design and code an armor storage feature from scratch. Either way it would mean more work than the Live Team could handle at this point in time. I don't even know if we will ever be able to handle that huge of a feature but here's hoping! ... I can't say for sure if this is doable or not but I suppose it would be one way to relieve inventory pressure from players. Of course there are still all the runes and insignias to store that accompany the armors in between uses. I suppose it would be hard to come up with an alternative system to a fully developed armor storage feature that doesn't have downsides. But these two ideas are virtually the same and share the same major flaw in that they wouldn't be able to store the runes and insignias on the armor which means you end up trading the storing of those instead of the storing of the armor but this way you lose your dye job too and are holding twice as many things (one rune, one insignia for every armor piece). Then we start talking about making Runes and Insignias stack and John has been against that for a long time. I might be able to change his mind, but you get what I am saying, right? I've been up all night writing text so I'm can't tell if I am making sense anymore lol – ... Books can hold 18 items or pages. That isn't a limit we have the option to change (I already asked). Here's John reason for being against making runes and insignias stackable: Since they are a player controlled market John feels that it would be a bad thing to allow players the opportunity to horde, control, or otherwise manipulate the supplies for monetary gain. Unlike ecto or black dye, the availability of runes and insignias greatly affects gameplay. If the cost of Superior Vigors shot through the roof because it became legal tender for traders, that would suck for people just playing the game. See what I means? – ... Because of all the variables discussed here, it is difficult to store armor on an NPC or in a Book item. Like Yawg said, the Book items just CAN NOT store this kind of variable data. PERIOD. We could have book items or an NPC that can hold clean, unmodded armor but data like runes, insignia and dye would not be stored. We could have an NPC that takes armor and spits back out that armor with the runes separated but the dye is still an issue. We could have a book that can only store dedicated minis or one that stores only undedicated minis. Bottom line, I promise you all that storage is top priority for the Live Team. - ... Assuming that we are just ignoring this huge request (more storage) is unfair. We are not ignoring this. We have actually been working on it for months but you have no idea how many different obstacles come up on this issue. It really isn't as easy as just adding the option in the store and throwing in a couple new tabs. For instance, we need to consider server space for keeping back ups of all the game and character data in case something goes wrong and requires a rollback. Say we decide to purchase more servers to accommodate, well it's not that easy either. It then takes server programmers to set up the servers which takes time. Even adding the option to the online store isn't easy and requires multiple programmers with different specialties to implement. There are a lot of things to consider and a lot of problems to solve when working on something like this. I know that it's a big problem effecting (sic) a huge amount of players (myself included, I have 12 mules all paid for with my own money) and has been an issue for a long time so there is frustration there but please be patient. We didn't have a dedicated team before and I promise you that storage is the number one item on our list. Think about how soon after the Live Team assembled that we addressed Ursan. We are able to be more responsive now that we have a team for this stuff so it's not the same kind of answer when we say "we are working on it". It just takes time. |

LOL at storage changes now. It's only a couple years late to do it!!
Anyway, I guess we will see a consumables tab and/or a collectible drops tab alongside bigger stacks or increased materials capacity.
Big LOl.. I've stopped playing and only troll here once in a while... If storage is really really improved I may actually log in to check it out.
