I used my dervish with Vow of Strength. You can do pretty much the same thing with your warrior if you run Hundred Blades + Whirlwind Attack.

Drop rates are a little on the low side, I got as many dyes! All cheap though apart from 1 silver.

I did NM outside Yohlon Haven East exit w/Spirit Spam and got 15 Carapaces and 19 cupcakes in 20 minutes.

There's 5 or 6 groups right there at the exit. Just gotta pull to seperate the groups on the right or they over power your spirits.

Also they are lvl 16 there as to lvl 20 everywhere else.

edit: Actually, the Bladed Veldt Termites are the only ones that are lvl 16, but still...

I thought farming build discussions were supposed to be on a different thread, and policed heavily. That apparently has *NOT* been the case for a few months.

So, I'll add my 2 cents worth. I had 3 drop with a new character/full hero party, just doing random questing to get further on in NightFall, about 2 weeks ago. I've also farmed (SOLO) right outside Yohlon as suggested, both NM and HM. I can kill 30 insects in 6 minutes NM, 9 minutes HM. In 3 runs (90 insects/20 minutes), I had 5 gold unid's, 6 spider web drops, 2 white inks, tons of other inks, and *1* carapace. This is rediculous - 3 required per gift? No wonder they're selling for 1K apiece...

I had them in 3 runs... strange
Though, I did it solo.

Because it doesn't work and is pretty useless. If you want the location you can check the OP or just main page of the wiki. It's not like that info needs a separate thread.

Yeah, that was a really stupid policy that never worked and was just more hard work for the mods.

Totem Axe farm! Good times.

If you've never farmed a Totem Axe, it's actually pretty fun and you WILL get a bunch of behemoth jaws. (But to clarify, this is by no means the best place to go, takes a while to get there....).

nice, easy week for me, have enough of them already

From the first one on that i found i kept them cos the drop rate seemed low.
No idea if they ever would be usefull, but i kept keeping the ones i found anyway.

Oh and, this topic seems the best place to me to discuss Nicholas the Traveler farm locations AND farm builds if needed.

The five behemoths in Mamnoon Lagoon gave me 1-2 jaws each run (~7 minutes).

I used a perma build with Radiation field, but Wastrel demise would probably be faster.

Unless you plan to perma or SoS it, the best place is The Falls.
The Wind Riders that patrol the Lagoon come in too large of numbers for less prepared builds. In The Falls, the number of Riders per group is generally less and much easier to fight through or run away from. The Lagoon has the issue of having multiple large groups in a very small area, and they patrol in opposing circles so they meet up along the way.

The Falls. Take your favourite farming build and either fight or run yourself there from Ventari's Refuge. If fighting with H/H you can either pin them at the entrance to The Falls or just far enough (from there the Root Behemoths are) so they are greyed out in your party list.

You can always take a full party of H&H to kill the wind riders then pin your H&H away from the Root Behemoths so they appear greyed out in your party list.

Spirits in the The Falls can readily handle the Wind Riders too. Just stay away from their attention so they don't degen and Cry of Frustration the crap out of you.

I went from Quarrel Falls, zoned into Mamnoon killed the first 2 behemoths, back to Quarrel. Took several runs, didn't get one everytime. Used perma nec with radiation field/sin support.
Got the 5 easy and moderately fast. I'm sure it can be done better, though.

Dry Top has a few Behemoths, in fact five spawn just near the gate from Tangleroot, so it makes for an easy in and out farm.

Indeed.
And the lack of Life Pods makes this very quick as you don't have to worry about enemy heals.

I also farmed the ones in Dry Top. Also took a single trip through The Falls for fun and got another 5. (plus a Totem Axe and a Forgotten Fan :P ).

Wierd, kept getting Totem Axe and jaws dropping together! Got 5 axes and 7 jaws from one run.

The fans are pretty rare, I only ever got one from the boss group near the actual falls.

I did Magnoom Lagoon with 7H, the way they would kill winds, and i'd kill Roots. Just had to manually use 2 fall backs so they can run away and get near me.

One run used to last cca 6min, killing 5 roots. Got 15 in hour, hour and half since I didn't really farmed just those, did some talking on the phone etc.

And got like 100 plant fibers while doing it

The Lifes pods seem to heal only themselves, not other monsters (at least in Mamnoon Lagoon).

They use Heal Area if I'm not wrong.

You are wrong.

Heal Other
Holy Wrath
Mend Condition
Orison of Healing

...and Signet of Judgment if you're daft enough to do it in HM.

Just grabbed a sin A/Mo vaettir farmer build to give it a shot in Mamnoon (NM)

It worked quite well. The number of wind riders was a distinct advantage because they provided more than enough energy for any damage skills I needed through Balthazar's Spirit. With SF and shadow shroud nothing was able to damage me except for the Behemoth's wild blow. Behemoths died in 2 casts of radiation - I also took kirin's wrath and some other damage spell for a little faster kill.

Only 2 tricky things - 1: make sure you are out of melee range from the behemoths when you cast Paradox-SF so their wild blow won't end the stance. 2: it helps to have a shadow step skill of some kind in case a life pod appears on the bridge and stubbornly won't move to let you by.

Only got about 1 jaw ever other run but the runs were extremely fast and very easy - especially since the 5 behemoths are spread between two zone portals so you can just run back and forth.

My point was if you want to kill ONLY the behemoths, you don't have to worry about Life Pods, even if they have Heal other and Orison of healing.

1st run: Cleared the behemoths in the Falls with a friend, he got 3 jaws, I got 1
2nd run with 2 friends: they got 2 jaws each, I got 1. Then 4 totem axes dropped, all 4 assigned to me lol
3rd run: solo, I got 4 jaws and no totem axes.
Appearently I'm bad at doing average runs lol

The spirits certainly seem to prioritise the Life Pods. Many times I've set up then pinged an arrow at the Behemoth to start things rolling, then the pods spawn and the spirits change targets.

Am I hallucinating?

Shame on any ranger that chooses to use sprits for this!

The Life pods don't heal the behemoths in lagoon but they do in falls. Just take the behemoths out with a flatbow so you don't spawn the pods. If you do, and can't be bothered killing the pods, just draw them well away and go back and kill the behemoths with the pods spitting at you from behind.

I find Spirits generally prioritize healers first.

You can control the first target of a battle if you set/summon spirits just outside agro and then attack a target yourself... they will all hit your target. Most often I stand behind them and agro with a flatbow... no agro back on me

Mine said exactly that.

Do the behemoths at Dry Top ever drop totem axes, by the way? I've been haunting them in NM for a couple days now and have easily killed 50 (about 10 runs, 5 critters each). More than enough jaws, not a single totem axe. Does it have to be HM?
