Nicholas the Traveler - Location Discussion (Updated Mondays)
CharrGirl
Hey guys what is the best place to farm those monsters?
RedDog91
I find that the best spot is in the area around Nicholas.
But unless you're an SoS, you'll almost certainly need a team of at least 2 (people or heros), and even quite a few SoS'ers seem to be having trouble with it.

im a SoS and i took 3 heros with me, used ua monk a panic messie and a mm/prot necro. took me 4-7 runs but i got my 10. the area around nic is best plus their is a war boss. xD to bad once again i got crap from nic *sighs*
Galderyn
Tried perma with a linker behind me, works fine. I wish I could do Nicho' every week without using a SoS. <3
Phoebe Poison
Took my N/Rt as always.
Maybe not as easy mindless "leave the spirits and watch everything die" as usually, but still pretty easy, and the drop rate was very high for me, up to 4 talons per group. Got my 10 quickly and additional 3 before leaving back to Jennur's.

I found SoS easy enough solo. Died twice in the four runs it took but you respawn right there so np.

If you are dying doing solo SoS you are not monitoring and recasting spirits enough, not kiting the melee if they aggro you and using the spirits to body block enough and possibly letting wastrels damage stack up on you. The melees have enraging charge but do break aggro pretty quick. The mesmers are most annoying because they have hex eater vortex for pbond but it just means things take alittle longer.
Voodoo Rage
Yeah, that's kind of what I'm thinking too. I'm pretty lazy at this game and I'm solo'ing these guys pretty readily. I'm curious what build you guys are using. Generally for solo farming I split Channeling and Communing and run a full set of offensive spirits with Painful Bond and Armor of Unfeeling (I don't bother using Summon Spirits or screwing around with a restoration split into Spiritleech Aura).
Fay Vert
Sounds like the same build I use. It's a real lazy build so no point paying too much attention, usually tabbed out while SoS farming nick items.

I just want to thank you all for giving a new meaning for my Mondays
I was wondering, what was the longest it took to find Nick the Traveler? I'm really impressed at how quickly people are able to figure where he is. Sorry if it sounds silly, but did he ever go missing for more than a day?

As for summon Spirits, I personally found it more beneficial to have than not having. I have often used this spell (to a degree) to direct spirits to attack certain foes in a group, have use it to redirect aggro, and used it keeping spirits up a little longer.

As for quickly locating Nick so fast, it not that hard -- there is only 26 locations left in the "current rotation".

I use fewer buffs and more spirits: spamtastic

Can still pull off the old R/D build for these. If you got the skills you can charge in to the Mesmer, ball them around you and quickly strike them down with the deadly Apply Poison & Reap Impurities combo. Build works well if you can pull it off but it's not for everyone.
Been able to take out groups with 2 Mesmers but it is sketchy unless you manage to pull of a perfect ball up.

I normally farm Nicholas items with my elementalist. But this time I took my rit. Soloing, it about 25 minutes to get 10 plus 5 extras.
Gli
Unbelievable. Not a single talon after a solid hour of farming. Three full inventories, salvaged down to 2 rubies, 2 superior, 1 major and 7 minor runes, some insignias, almost a stack of iron and some other mats, 3 vabbian keys and 3k worth of merchant junk. But not a single talon.
Snograt
There you go - the evil end of random chance in operation.
Only took me ~3 runs to get what I needed, plus one balck dye and a crappy green spear from that Penishead fella.

Barbarous Shore exit from Camp Hojanu has a quite a few groups of Heket, right outside don't have to go far...
Liston
Outside Kodash bazaar is LOADS of Heket I believe
Kook~NBK~
The S.E. part of the Dejarin Estate has a lots of heckets, as does the Forum Highlands South of Kodash Bazaar. Happy hunting, everyone!

The Blue Tongue Hekets can be quite bothersome since they have Word of Healing.
If you go to Gandara Moon Fortress there are 2 groups of 3 Heket that are always 2 warriors and one ranger. The ranger uses an axe like the warriors. None have healing abilities.
Just some helpful advice.

Watch out for all the asplodin corpses, hey?

Blue tongue are easy, painful bond=death, aggro the group then go over to the healer summon spirits, wait for the warriors to get close and use PB, stand in that area and summon spirits again to give them some HP, I have fought 2 groups by accident that had blue tongue and took them out, it was hard but one group with a healer=easy.

A lot of farming builds aren't designed to kill healers because its more efficient to not kill groups with them unless 100% unavoidable. I rather give advice that can be used for everything, not just SoS.

Believe it or not, there's quite a few people who don't use SoS. Shocking, I know.

Weird enough even with so many groups outside Kodash, the group(s) near and in the pond, and the ones figthing the skree I got none there. Got all of them outside kodonur in a blink after no luck in forum highlands.

This week I went to Gandara Moon Fortress and used a Glad's Def warrior build on Hard Mode to good effect. Was fast.
Was something like Dwarven Stability, Glad Def, Deadly Riposte, Riposte, Whirlwind Attack, Healing Sig, Sprint and Viper's Defense(ball them before using this). Just bunch them and have at it, they drop like flies. IF the ranger is present melee him first.
Secondary class or some slots can be easily changed around to kill the healers, I just couldn't be bothered with it. Although my initial War Build could kill them but on normal mode.
There is one/two healer group in Gandara that can spawn(sometimes they are Nec - this build kills them) but it's easy to avoid if needed and even if you run into them you can kill a couple wars just not the healer unless you tweak the build. Kill Necro last. Just keep glads on(less dmg), keep him poisoned(he will condition you - counter w/heal sig) and spam whirlwind attack and he will die. Sometimes if you attack him first you will own him do to him using orders and
Worth noting on HM and(atleast for me) in that area that they drop loads of gold armors and occasionaly norm/gold War Tombs(sometimes Nec) if thats your thing, e.g. a lil bonus money.
