When I called yesterday, there was a recording that said their hours were noon to 5 p.m. Central time. I have been calling for over an hour now and the line has been busy. I should have known that would happen.

It's my understanding that everyone who has gotten their account terminated for this problem needs to create a ticket with NCSoft. Please don't create more than one ticket per person or account, though, as that will slow down the process.

I hope they get it fixed. I missed a LOT of Trick or Treat bags last night. 4 accounts and 8 hours to kill can net a lot of drops, especially when your kids are in there farming them right along with you.

so how long do i have to wait to get a respond back? and is their a number to contact about my account. dad said he would scan the only 2 keys i was able to find but he is afraid they might get stolen and used against me. he said it would be better to talk to a person. but what limited info i could find makes it out to be i wont be able to do this? so regina/martin and all others at anet does buy/selling from guru and going afk to eat lunch and coming back to an error 007 nowmean i will never be able to play gw again?

And now i have to be afraid that any comment i give any items i sell on guru will get me banned from gw? do i have to play with fear now that if i dont bow to some random person they can lie about me and get me banned? what do i do now? i spent i beleive at least 9k+ hours working to get my account so far only to have this happen. is this how you treat loyal customers? -_-

It was a mistake. They will fix it. You will be able to play GW again. Don't panic. You're not the only person this has happened to, obviously.

And you don't actually need to scan your CD-keys, fyi.

i dont? cause every time i see this happening to someone they say they have to show your keys. and sorry its hard not to panic when your account many hard minis to replace,choas gloves,and money i know will take me a 1yr or more to get back. ;/ and will having my gl come forward as a witness help? anything else i should do? any tips?

I don't doubt that the problem will be resolved.

However, the damage is already done.

My primary concern at the moment is how long it's going to take to reinstate everyone's accounts and what sort of compensation is going to be offered for this incident. (And yes, I do think players should be compensated this time because people got banned during the Halloween drop weekend and missed out on their final chance to collect as many Trick-or-Treat bags as possible.)

Here at my house, three of us took out our laptops and sat down to start raiding Talus Chute together to take advantage of these holiday drops while we still had the chance. Imagine our surprise, scare and ultimate disappointment when two of us received a message saying that our accounts were "permanently terminated."

Is fair compensation really out of the question?

Whatever ArenaNet does next regarding this situation will define them for me.

I understand your scare. I honestly do.

One of my guildmates whose account has been affected by this is storing a vast collection of minipets and the Legendary Defender of Ascalon title which took him several months of playing daily to achieve.

He's so annoyed at the situation that I have to post here in his place because he would likely just cuss up a storm instead of thinking clearly.

i supposed thats good news. but would i be one of them? i didnt buy anything nor did i do anything wrong besides going afk with guru up behind me? i did a scan and norton says i have nothing wrong with my system. so that means i wasnt hacked right? i really wish i knew what else i could do to prove i wasnt doing anything wrong to have gotten banned like this by you guys. and long as anything of mine isnt stolen i dont care for compensation but if it was and i was banned falsly i hope i would get more then a sorry.

did you recently buy a very expensive item from another player? I've seen people be banned for RMT after a gold buyer/seller sold them some kind of vary rare item.. this is the only other thing i can think of

thank you for the info.. Some kind of announcement on the login screen or on the website would be nice though. Only a small percent of the guild wars players use fan sites like this. knowing the problem is being resolved helps a lot, shouldn't have to search for that information

unless you count halloween items then nope. last item i can remember selling was candy corn tonics. and the only thing i bought today/morning was a stack of tot bags. last rare item i guess i sold was a unded flowstone i bought on guru for 30k and sold in game for 45k but that was on friday.

Pardon my question Regina, but even if this gets fixed how legitimate is it from ANet's part to:
- block all previously bought products
- *and* all products linked to the master NC account of one of the affected game accounts

Don't you think you need to revise your policies a bit?

I've never heard of anything as insane in any other product be it physical product or online product. Preventing access to all products of one account is already too much, but preventing access to all products of all related accounts because a $2 transaction didn't clear... ???? Excuse me????

I got the exact same response, timestamp and all. I just tried logging in to the game, and I didn't get the "account terminated" pop up, which is a relief. However, it still isn't letting me log in; now it's telling me it doesn't recognize my account information.

EDIT: Okay, posted without refreshing the thread, sorry. But this reinstating keys thing... I assume I won't have to reinput my keys or anything[at least I hope not], but does this mean my account's password got changed? Do I just reset my password again, and has anyone else gotten the "we don't recognize your account information" message? The only reason I haven't reset it already is now I'm a little leery of the entire situation and don't want anything else to get messed up further.

EDIT2: Aaand the "account terminated" message is back! Ugh.

I had my account stolen and contacted support for assistance, even offering to show them my original, physical CD-keys as proof of ownership, but it never happened to be required.

I just spent 49 minutes on the phone with NCSoft technical support. Basically, here's the lowdown from them...

They are aware of a number of accounts being flagged for fraudulent purchases recently, but each account is reviewed individually by an actual human, and if there is no fraud, the account is reinstated.

I asked them how long before these accounts get reinstated, and they gave me an unofficial "we expect it to be completed in the next 24 hours" but don't hold them to it. They are working as swiftly as they can to get this resolved.

I'm kicking myself now because I completely forgot to ask them about unlinking my game accounts from my NCSoft master account and putting each of them into their own NCSoft account.

The one thing that was completely clear to me, though, is that they will not resolve this issue over the phone with you. If you'd like to give it a try anyway, here's the numbers I have to contact them:

Good luck, and try to remember to be nice to them. You won't get anywhere if you're abusive on the phone.

would those help me? or should i just sit and wait for them to contect me? the last high end thing i bought was ded. chibi gwen. for a belated bday gifts/cheer up gift a friend gave me enough zkeys to buy it. would that have dont it? but that was months ago. sorry if i feel little hyper/sad atm i cant help think of all my items i got and time i spent on my account. and not being able to contact my friends/play with them anymore.

my mom thinks i should give up is this is the way they treat their customer. but i wont give up hope yet i still beleive that their is at least one good person up their that can hep me.

So for those of you that were around/have experienced this happening earlier in the year, was there any sort of restitution given by ANet for the inconvenience? Or was it basically just "here you go, it's fixed"?

I'm assuming that a lot of people are extremely unhappy with this because of the fact that they missed the last day of the Halloween event, but somehow I get the feeling that it's just going to be a case of "sorry, stuff happens, nothing we can do about it."

How they handle this is going to determine whether or not the storage pane purchase is going to be my first and last purchase from the NCSoft store.

considering there are probably hundreds of people, at least, that got there accounts banned after spending money at the in-game store, it wouldn't be very wise to not give any kind of restitution for this.. I'll never use the ingame store again.

I didn't read all 15 pages, but can anyone tell me if it'd be safe to buy a storage pane or two now? The majority of what I saw was people banned who bought from the In-Game storage on Friday/Saturday (depending on location)

Ok, just finished another conversation with NCSoft tech support.

There is no way to remove game accounts from an NCSoft master account once they're there. I don't personally agree with that, but the support rep was very courteous and friendly, and insisted that he had no way of doing it.

He did, however, take another look at the issue where my NCSoft master account was blocked for fraudulent activity, and noted on the account that it was a false positive, and has unblocked it. That was very nice of him, but I still can't log into any actual game accounts until I get an email from them saying that my accounts have been restored.

He assured me that they are working on it as diligently as possible, under the circumstances.

Until it is know if the NcSoft credit card system has been hacked and the funds stolen , which produced the apparent fraud , you would have to be nuts to use the in game store.

Be smart, be safe and wait. Remember this it the company that brought us the XTH is being fixed song and dance. Some say hundreds may be involved, how about thousands? This , at present , is a 'How long is a piece of string?' situation.

I feel for you. I was in the military stationed in Germany, but that was back before the days of MMORPGs. It always seems like our troops get forgotten.

Status Update:

Since that second phone call where I was able to speak to someone, my ncsoft master account has been unblocked. I can now log into all 4 of my accounts. They are back and mostly unharmed.

The one account that is not the way I left it is the one account I bought Xunlai storage panes and skill unlock packs for. That account I can log into and play, but only Prophecies right now. Just about everything is disabled. I'm guessing they're working on it, or they have locked out all the access keys on that account and they will probably unlock them soon. Then I'll get my email telling me that the problem has been resolved. All the storage panes have been removed except for the first two and the crafting material storage. Even the 4th anniversary storage pane is disabled.

The weird thing is that I'm not even sure why I bought those storage panes, except that they were on sale. My son doesn't even use his storage except for the crafting materials pane, so there was nothing at all in storage. What would have happened to the items in those tabs if he'd had anything in them? Would they have been deleted? Or would they reappear once those tabs were accessible again? Hmmmmm.

This has been around for a while. They stop cards that are registered to country A being used in country B to stop fraud. Its really annoying, the only solution I've found is to have someone in the country the card is registered to sign into the NCSoft with the card details and complete the transaction for you. Very very annoying when you're trying to give someone a gift.

I get there's a perfectly reasonable reason as to why its done this way but it'd be great if we can designate a couple of safe countries.

yes very lucky here. other then the one email from them saying they forwarded it to senior guy i havent heard from them since. i can only hope i get it back this week. but i know thats to much hope with anet being they way they are ban them first then work out the issues. really anet! i have proof i am not a gold seller yet they wont work with me or give me proof that i did something wrong. kinda hard to be doing something illegal when you arent even on your comp now isnt it.

"Dude," I'm well aware that they are working to fix the problem.

Nevertheless, the problem did occur, and I am simply asking if we can expect this same kind of support in Guild Wars 2. It is a valid question.
