The underrated skill thread.

Yup. Post skills that you think are underrated but still have a use in YOUR party. (Post whether its PvP or PvE)
For me, I have to start out with [Hex Eater Signet]. Granted its a nasty down time for a hex removal skill, but in hex heavy areas in PvE, I find my Mesmer taking this skill quite often. With H/H tendancy to ball up, this is a great hex removal for backliners, along with giving energy! I put this on my Monk also when I spec in inspiration for utility.
Only problem is I put it on a Mo/Me, Me/X, P/Me hero's to test how they use it. Sadly if the melee has one hex they will run up to remove it.
In any case, I love this skill after using it and after 3 years of saying "ugh whta a nasty skill"
What are you underrated skills?

Glimmer of Light.
5e c0.25 r1
Elite Spell. Heal target ally for 10...94...115 Health.
Highlight's Pvxwiki nub teams who don't know why they are asking for Word of Healing or Healer's Boon.
75% chance to cause Crying if ally is already suffering from the Pvxwiki condition. If Crying occurs you gain 10 satisfaction.
75% chance to cause RageQuit is ally is already suffering the Crying condition. If RageQuit occurs you gain 50 satisfaction.
While Glimmer of Light is on your skillbar, you are immune to the Ovis condition.
Amongst all the amazing reasons to bring this skill, not least the fascinating graphic that leaves people asking what that is, but the QQ from preprogrammed "can u bring woh?" and "bring hb?" nublets is worth it on it's own.
Absolutely comedy gold from the moment you say "If you can explain why WoH is better for the task we're about to undertake, then yes" to the moment you say "gg, thanks everybody, somebody PM that QQ ragequitter and tell him we made it without him and how quickly too!".

When I go vqing and use General Morgahn I give him Anthem Of Fury so I can spam more adrenal skills and shouts like those hex removal ones which I forget the name. All of my necro monks use Glimmer Of Light because i <3 the little animation and I think the healing is quick and efficent.
And if I am going imbagon I try to give Xandra Weapon Of Fury for more spam and energy for expensive shouts like We Shall Return!
Ah the guy above me beat me to the punch of how epic Glimmer Of Light is....

30% damage reduction (when the condition is met), no downtime, great for keeping up AR outside of battles.
I approve.

Whenever I see a glimmer of light monk on the enemy team, I give an evil grin because I know we're about to teamwipe them due to their monk's poor choice in elite skills.
You pressure them hard for a bit, their healer runs out of energy, and they just drop in a "more Balthazar faction for me" kind of way.
Even after being nerfed several times WoH is still better.

Fits in beautifully with my turret build. Even on HM, between Expert's Focus, Asuran Scan, and IatS!, 90% of stuff is < 50% after prepshot and sundering. Plink them to death with this spammy spikey goodness. Hit them with Technobabble first for more lulz.

I can't play Aspenwood without either Mistrust or Power Leech. I seriously think Luxons don't even have effect windows to know if they're under hexes
Oh, and next time you're in the mood for some fun in RA, run Panic+Ether Lord.

I want the glimmer of light monk to post again so I can tell him why it sucks so much.
also
Battlerage: I want to make this skill work but it ends up being worse than rush.
Enraged smash: This skill throws down hard, it's fun to use but energy intensive.
Mending touch: On a devastating hammer bar. You can save people from sins with it by removing their deep wound, also it kept me alive when I got hit with pindown in front of a 10 person mob in ab so I <3

Glimmer of heal is fine, 1/4 cast time win, it basically bypasses daze etc. although it can be energy intensive if you're not careful. It's better at preventing a players health getting below 50% than woh.
FoxBat
Exactly, this is PvE. Why do you need to let players go below 50 or even have energy problems. Just fire selfless spirit when you're low and spam away. And stop whining about it's condition, there is no reason you need to take or keep aggro as a monk - or if you actually like tanking, just run channeling and prot yourself.
Still, it's sad that patient heals for more than glimmer. It could use a tiny buff (or really, patient a nerf)

Apparently 90% of monks are complete idiots because none of them seem to carry the single best monk skill in the game... protective spirit.
I don't care if you are a smiter monk, this skill belongs on your bar. Any monk without PS needs to stop playing a monk.

Seriously a great healing skill that gives you more adrenaline and is spammable.

Quivering Blade. While it may seem like a waste of an elite slot (most of the time it is), when I simply can't decide what elite to take into an area with my build I will throw it in. Its 5 Adrenaline and does as much damage as the 8 Adrenaline Galrath Slash/Silverwing Slash. Actually I used it a LOT more when it was 4 Adrenline and caused daze if it was blocked (i forget what it was actually) but since I was running I solid warrior build dazed didn't affect me (affects spells only)
Skull Crack is also a pretty good skill if you know what you're doing, you can be devastating to a caster.
I also never see anyone using Grenth's Balance...awesome skill. Period.
As well as all mesmer skills, lol :P

Problem with Glimmer of Light is that it doesn't really provide a benefit. I mean, if your idea of fun and skill is in fact "put on selfless and spam away" that's fine and dandy, but that doesn't make a skill good. It makes the user bad. ¾ sec activation is fast enough, the cast speed makes no difference in PvE unless you're redbarring. The recharge doesn't really matter either, WoH + Patient Spirit = always able to use one.
Grenths balance, problem is that you need to be at a low health to use it. Otherwise it's just a wasted slot. And if you spend a lot of time on low health, you're doing it wrong.

Life Sheath beats it downright at that task; 1/4 cast, 2s recharge, negation of damage to healing and removal of conditions.

My favorite underused skill is probably Battle Rage - I love spammable adrenaline skills and freaking out Mesmers and Necros with Purge Signet while stacked. Since I use only adrenaline skills/signets, I don't care if I lose 80 energy - I can pwn their faces before they regain their energy and recharge spells they stacked.

In a setting such as Random Arenas, where you cannot expect support from another Monk or coordination from team mates, Glimmer can be good to have in some situations. For example, when going up against a BHA Ranger, a good Magebane/interrupt Ranger, Frustration/Migraine/Conundrum Ranger or Mesmer, etc. In many matches against such opponents I was at some point forced to using only Patient Spirit as a heal, because exactly due to its 1/4 sec casting time, it was the only spell I could pull off without being interrupted. WoH would become unusable with its 3/4 casting time becoming 1 sec+ cast.
All that being said, I still usually just run WoH, because WoH is superior to Glimmer if such counters are not present.
Life Sheath is good on a 2 Monk backline (where the other does the heavy duty healing) but again in a 1 Monk setting, it doesn't pack enough healing. You'll die to degen pressure. In this case I'd feel safer just running Glimmer or WoH.

Rebirth
Most people I talk to say it sucks because it takes away your energy. I give my heroes Resurrect but I take Rebirth. It's great if you're in the mission and the last one alive and need to res without aggroing.

I'm definitely an "out of the box" build maker, so one of my favorite Warrior skills is Warrior's Endurance. That single skill opens up a ton of creative builds for my warrior...

Funny thing is, I actually did that once in Arborstone HM. Saved the entire party. We failed when someone killed the judge and Danika got creamed. After that, someone asked to see the build, saw Dunk's rebirth (the same one that had just saved his arse) and demanded I remove it. *facepalm* When I refused, he raged.
Love needling shot, love rebirth, love heroes.

I agree with quivering blade, I prefered it when it was 4a, which means I have to mention cleave. Unless I know there will be blocking in which case I'll take whirling axe, I always take it.

Rotting Flesh? really??
can someone please explain to me why a spell that spreads disease to ONE person is 15e with a 3-second cast time??
i mean, i know the disease can spread, but still...in pve things die too quickly for it to matter, and in pvp there are just too many better options.
not to mention unless it's put on a fc mes it seems like interrupt material to me...
