UW R/RT or RT/R solo build
Fenbulvetr
Is it possible to do the R/Rt version of this without Nightfall? I have Prophecies, Factions, and EoTN and am wondering if there is a possible variant.
Thanks
Thanks

so, finally got a chance to try the build and its great
i dont have EoTN so i dont have the EoTN only skill (forget name) i have syphon spirit in its place for some energy, but i find that i never ever use it since i have plenty of energy without it...
Any suggestions on a skill that would work well with the build in place of syphon spirit, (remember i cant use the EoTN skill...)
i was thinking the transport spirit skill but its so easy to recast my spirit line that i really dont need it...

just a quick question: whats overall better rit or ranger primary?
Snograt
Rit, for the higher level spirits, imo.
Rangers have Expertise to lower the energy cost, but that's never been a problem to me. Having said that, I run Rt/x and R/Rt and they both do the job admirably.

Can i replace Spirit Leech Aura for anything?
I dont have eotn, and im a r/rt..

sub it in for a heal or a blocking stance maybe, just in case you do get targeted.

I read alot from this thread but some did go into my brain but some not . Err was thinking rit or ranger will be good to go with painful bond
Spiritz
leehai - your question is a bit daft tbh - no offence
rit or ranger with painful bond ?
either is good is the obvious answer - other obvious would be rit due to higher rit attrs .
Im guessing its why no one have answered - its a daft question which dont need answering.
ive answered it only because we dont want you getting annoyed with ppl from this thread for not answering - ppl generally tend to offer advice for better questions .

this is HM UW with just rit skills. I can post shots of other areas if you want, I just did these real fast. Smites take quite a while, but are ok. Chamber and resign is usually what I do though since faster than running all over the place.

Hmm seems there was a UW update maybe I will sit Aion down for a few days and reinstall gw to see what has changed. It is nice to see people are still using this build.

Nice one, i may have to fire up my ritualist again just for a few runs, I used to love spirit bashing those bulls!

Just remember, in HM the aatxes will rip your spirits to shreds if you don't use Armor of Unfeeling. I use AoU for armor, Shadowsong to keep one blinded , and Dissonance to help interrupt the attacks. On the Aatxes I pull with Painful Bond, no need to worry about Dying Nightmares, they will also go after the spirits. Just do NOT try to pull them far in HM or you will die.
I assume a r/rit or rit/r could use a Dust Trap where they put their spirits as well.
The smites aren't hard at all as a spirit spammer(just extremely tedious), but they will constantly knock down spirits, so I try to spread them out a little bit, spawn all my spirits..then pull the smites to them. I then run around the smites a good distance away and get ready to spawn more spirits as mine die. I usually have to use 3-4 sets of spirits to kill a large group of smites. Painful Bond wont really speed up these guys either since they just smite it. Keep in mind, i have had fights against a large group of smites last an upwards of 10-15 minutes, so don't expect to fly through these guys. The Coldfire guys are no threat at all if you pull with bow and spread out your spirits.
Worms are easy, just remember to not walk over the traps. Charged Blackness pull with bow spread spirits a good distance (chain lightning).
The tricky part is the Chaos Planes, without a TON of luck this is where it ends. It is possible to kill the adds that spawn after killing the Riders, but it is extremely annoying as I usually don't bring any hex removal or heals.
If you can sneak around the Riders to Bone Pits, the pits is ok, but once you get to the bridge , I usually end up at an angle where my spirits can't hit them and they don't want to come around to me. The first part of the cave can be rough if your spirits decide they want to kill the minions first.
I guess Vale is doable, but I can't do the quests, and the grasplings aren't really worth killing.
Spawning Pools can end up a huge mess with bad positioning, but I assume it is doable, i just hate meteor shower. Just remember to spread out the spirits here.
As I said in my post above, most of it is doable in HM, but honestly it is just easier for me to clear the chamber kill the Aatxes near the chamber and then resign due to how long the smites take to kill and how long it takes to get to other areas.

very surprised by the lack of spiritleech aura in that build for HM, and personally I feel like vampirism > Pain.
Ive been doing this as well lately but havent brought dissonance...may give it a shot but 25en is a lot. a trap is a good idea, but as someone said earlier black powder > dust. I've stuck a little closer to the original build here, and dont see it's gonna make a huge difference.
bottom line is these are minor varients and no matter how you go about it, it takes a very long time - personally I clear out the wastes, plains, and pools. it's slow, but to me, it's actually fun. As far as time efficient, ectos/hr builds go, this isn't it, but Ive enjoyed playing it and maybe that counts for something too.
SoS, Vampirism, bloodsong, shadowsong, Spiritleech, AoU, painful bond, and either BoC, Syphon, or mend body & soul. I've tried all 3 in that last slot, and personally I dont think it really matters, if youre not running dissonance you honestly dont have energy problems. Been carrying MB&S just in case of emergency, but dont use it much, if youre taking damage you're not doing it right - stay back...WAY back...little farther...
The build is fun, and does make money, never had a non-profitable run yet, several ectos per go each time, but there are more efficient farms, so I dont see it ever getting widespread use, but Ive still found myself doing this more than anything else in GW lately. Just keep AoU & SLA spinning at all times and stay back outta range and you'll be fine.
gotta say thanks for posting this, Spun.

Isn't just doing just the chamber counter productive to making money. Maybe my luck is different, but there have been plenty of runs where the chamber doesn't net me anything.
T1Cybernetic
If you don't get much in the chamber you can always choose to go further? It never hurt to try but sometimes it's better money wise to resign and restart
Crippie its Tom
how much harder is it to do vale now with this build (no sin to tank)? Do the pops kill you, or once you memorize them are they No problem?
Pailey
well, I don't use spiritleech because I don't EoTN. Vampirism is probably a good idea, but my Sunspear puts mine at 17 damage, and lower level than my Pain.
Just a little update, I have been having far more luck with Chaos Planes lately, just make sure to get SoS up before getting to them. I usually just make a wall and hope they fly into it and then respawn spirits as needed. They usually never focus on me. Charged Blackness are now giving me problems though. I can outlive that Glimmering mark, but I end up with almost zero health and if they do anything else to me I am toast so I kinda just have to pray they stay interested in my spirits.
As far as just doing chamber and resigning, I just do it out of lazyness. I get MOST of my ectos from Chaos Planes, but I usually don't feel like getting all the way up there...lol. It is hit or miss, sometimes i can get 3-4 ectos from Chambers, but usually at least 1 or 2. It isn't to bad for 15 minutes of work.
Sometimes I will clear smites just for fun, but I would not do that for a money making venture. Honestly, i only do HM for the challenge, NM seems to drop just as many ectos for me and is a ton easier for me.
As for the Vale question, I have always been told if you leave a group of grasplings up, it helps make it easier, but I never really mess with Vale, so I don't know.

I agree, it isn't exactly for speed clearing, but it is a lot of fun. best part about it not being all THAT great of a way to do it, it probably wont be first in line to get nerfed (fingers crossed). As far as dissonance, with boon of creation SoS gives me back 15 energy, so it really isn't a strain on energy, but there are probably better things to put there...I just keep it because it's what i am used to. Once I find something i can use reliably I stick with it til it gets boring or nerfed

Has the recent changes to the UW killed this build?

No, it still works. I used it to collect skeletons solo for the Halloween quests. Just be more careful until you learn where the new pop ups are. Pull and kill the skeletons separately, and watch their patrols so they don't interfere at the wrong time.
Fay Vert
The changes make this more profitable as the skeletons and extra mindblades drop ectos. The extra squids popping up are a minor annoyance purely because it's an extra bit of junk to wade through, though you can usually pull them onto the same set of spirits you still have up after killing the last cows.
Pailey
Still is fine, the Aatxes near the stairs to Vale have kinda a quirky aggro now (i think it has to do with killing the new Mindblades), but once you get a feel for the new spawns, it is about the same though a little slower.
The extra ectos are a bonus though.

MisterB
It's funny to ambush the Mindblades trying to ambush you before Vale: Just drop your spirits before you get to the stairs, and then the Mindblades will pop up into a crossfire. They are actually allies for a second or two, so you have time to get out of their range.

Sorry dude, but the inclusion of the skeletons makes ecto farming impossible. I'm waiting for ecto prices to jump to 20k ea.

you are wrong
see the previous several posts
and skeletons are a tiny annoyance that do nearly no damage, plus can drop ectos and you can capture them in those crystal thingies if you picked enough up

So I decided to give Aion a break and check out this skeleton business. This spirit wall build I made still seems to work quite fine abiet a bit slower but that doesn't matter since the ecto drops are increased. My touch ranger build seems to work just fine as well. In total it seems these changes didn't hose either of my UW builds so I suppose I can let anet go back to the drawing board. Perma sin's and 55 monks on the other hand along with terra tanks possibly probably don't fair so well with the skeletons.
Petrus921
I'm having trouble killing the first groups of Bladed Aatxes...
Two at a time seems to be fine, but three kills me every time uptill now.
Any tips, since i can't hide behind the ghosts?

Put your spirits down and wait a little while before pulling so your next round of spirits will be ready to place as the old ones drop. Shadow song is different, look at the recharge, it's also the most important as it blinds them and a blind cow is not much of a problem.
Put SoS spirits near the fron as they recharge quick and can be replaced. Vamp is also good at the front as it can tank well, but not so well against Aatxes. Use the stairs to maximise body blocking so only 1 spirit goes at a time and you should be able to keep up witht he attrition.

Works fine. Leapfrog with the spirits b/c of grasping popups the whole way. There are 3 terrorwebs, 4 skeles, 7ish mindblades, and 2 aatxe on the way from the labrinth reaper to the vale shrine.

I have been doing this since Halloween with a slightly different build.
pain, vamp, bloodsong, SoS, armour of unfeeling, spirit siphon and summon spirits.
Lay the spirits then pull the group you want and run away. I have totally cleared out the labrynth, the plains the spawning pools, the mountain and the uh, place with the smite crawlers.
got 4 ectos in 2 runs without getting vary far.

Why do you need Siphon Spirit? I assume you have Shadowsong in there too, which is the only skill to cost any significant energy. I run with just 4 in expertise and put more in the rit lines and I don't have any energy problems.
Tastyy
I recently tried this with my necromancer. Energy wasn't a problem at all. The spirits had very low health, so keeping them up was tough, even when using Armor of Unfeeling.
On my way to plains, past the bridge, there are 3 Dhuum skeletons. I just can't get past them. I once did, but that was luck.
They have an AoE spell that hits for 35 x 4. Thats 3 Dhuum soldiers using this. It destroys every spirit. Then theres the spear-skill that does 100..Also hurts my spirits.
I would appreciate if you could help me. Spare me the L2P. Thx.
Quick side questions: Are the Dhuum soldiers here to stay?

Thank you for this build it works awesome.

Just spread your spirits out, plus let them cast on you, the bone spike is very easy to dodge and the Flurry of Splinters doesn't do that much if you get out as soon as it's cast (vamp will heal you). Then just back out of the battle and let your spirits fight, you are guaranteed to kill one, probably two or even all three.

The Skeletons Of Dhuum are a cakewalk with Summon Spirits. I usually take that over Spirit Leech Aura personally.
Heck with Summon Spirits I'm able to take on groups of up to 3 Aatxes without Shadowsong. I found that out when I went to do the Halloween quest for them as I took a self heal over Shadowsong and had no problems dealing with them. This was on my Ranger too.
