Are we even going to get an update ANet?
funway ftw
Have I just not noticed any form of update on the XTH issue or has there actually been no update at all? Obviously it was so badly broken they must be recoding the whole thing (funny how a new interface can completely ruin a whole system btw). Is it actually going to be up for the next tourney? Are you going to tell us in advance this time anet? Or again leave us guessing. Some awesome PR work going on round here. Have people stopped asking because they have given up on anet actually doing something? ANyone check the Live teams pages etc? Everyone must be on holidays over there!!
Any update on the next major update? thats supposed to be soon as well is it not?? no hints .. no teasers to even keep people interested? Hmmm maybe they are hoping people will go and play other games so the live team doesnt have to exist at all wouldnt that be convenient.....

You gonna get threadlocked for pointing out the obvious.
Also, no, nobody announces anything anymore for Guild Wars. Game's dead. Next update may be in August. Maybe not.
Give up hope. Go play something that's actually being maintained. Eat sno-cones for breakfast and ride your bicycle up interstate onramps in the wrong direction.

K here's the latest info I can find. 2 players asking or stating the following:
Person #1 "As weeks stretch into months, will players be compensated for the XTH downtime?"
and
Person #2
"From this I get that XTH is not "Top" priority but at the bottom of the listed current matters."
Regina responded:
Which doesn't answer the question. But that was posted on July 21st.

Ugh
Anet secretly destroyed XTH because they realized it gave multiple-accounters unfair advantages over single-accounters. Now, they're just waiting 'til everyone forgets about it instead of announcing that it was removed in order to avoid angry qqs. Sneaky, sneaky Anet.
And I do think we'll get an update in August. Whether it's good or not... that's a different story. But, if they change Shadow Form (not nerf, but change funcionality) and 600 monks (NERF), I'll be happy.

Anet fail, the devs are too busy smoking pot and having GW2 parties in test servers to crash the economy before it comes, then they can't hit their update dartboard properly because they're all stoend and wasted. Thus nothing happens and they tell us to be patient whilst they 'fix' things, meanwhile NCsoft doesn't care because they're raking it in with all their P2P games.

Please don't QQ about not getting free money. I would much rather have ANet work on GW2 than fixing XTH.
Archress Shayleigh
I agree with Pony. Although free cash once a month is awesome... besides, in my opinion, they realized that XTH is screwing the crap outta the economy so they stopped it. faked a crash... maybe they're waiting for zkeys to go up again or something.
Ugh
I have noticed that zkeys have been increasing in price. While XTH was up, they were about 3.8k and dropping. Now, I see them for a consistant 4-4.1k.
Also, even if Anet didn't fake the crash, they should pretend they did. That way they don't have to fix anything and zkeys are worth something again. Win-win.

I made a big deal out of it at first...demanding to know something and all that shit, but after Regina's third update message basically saying, "We're working on it" I gave up. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they intend to keep it down forever.

it's been quiet for a long time. let's hope for the best (gw's fanbase is slowly carrying gw to its grave, while anet develop gw2). not the best pr move, as fans may spread the word of anet throwing games on the market and abandon them and the fans, but it's budget-friendly.
anyway, this is not meant to be a rant, just my guess on how things are evolving - nothing new, though.

On topic, I have also replied to my last response from support to see if I would get anything new. It is unfortunate that the updated XTH had to be taken down, and more than anything I think as a playerbase it just adds to the perception that the current game is a bit of a redheaded stepchild and the lack of a communication line between the game and it's community.
Either way, there should be an update coming in the next month or so (the every 3-4 months update) so we can hope it is lumped into that. All in all, it's a free to play game(not free totally) free to play.

Everyone, if you actually want a response from a dev you need to try to do several things:
1) stay on topic
2) stop the senseless and spam posts
3) stop rehashing the very same thread that's all ready on the front page of riverside (you know who you are)
4) contribute to the discussion (and by contribute I do not mean a witty one-liner)
p.s. slowerpoke, yes your reference to The Watchmen was funny. I did laugh.

I wouldnt hold your breath for a update on xth any time soon....and since thursday has passed (the 'usual' update day)....I doubt we will be seeing it back up this month. Probably not even as part of next months update either as it sounds like they dont have it as a top priority.
Yes the anet staff is 'busy' working on gw2....them may seem to forget they have a game that is currently live and that many may perceive this as a lack of caring about the community or such (the 'gee if this is the kind of action we get what will they do when gw2 is out' kind of thing).
I am a little discouraged about the lack of response from the CR's myself....you'd think that they would want to keep us in the loop HERE(and other forums) instead of some obscure insignificant note on some lost dev's page on a wiki that should NOT be used as a forum-----

We understand that this is an issue that you are interested in and that you want an update, but I cannot see how reiterating the above statement on a daily basis will do anything to remedy the situation.
I know that this is not the answer you all were waiting for - unfortunately it is the only one I can give at this moment in time.

How about an answer to this:
will the xth be part of the next update?
(whether that be the 'big' august update or another smaller one)
I know its hard to put a time line on stuff like this (my husband works in the computer field as well), but the mobs are getting a little restless here.....(as is evidenced by the amount of threads dealing with this same subject).

Actually, It was not really new interface that ruined it, XHT had similar problems or not giving proper amount of points and requiring devs actions to make it work since it was introduced.
New interface was just facelift with guts being the same like older version based on inside based on what I saw.
It's not that they broke it, they just finally got pissed off by XTH threads and started doing something about it...
---
As far as next "bigger" update is concerned, there were some vague claims that they will be more open about future changes but noone knows what that meant: Will there be PTR like feature with Test Crewe? More posts about current development?
Maybe this idea was simply silently abandoned?
However simple logic to reassure you about future of the game:
1) Linsey & Co. were not transfered to GW2 and they were not fired.
2) Anet will not pay them to sit in office and look bored.
3) Hence, they are doing something on GW1. And it will eventually be completed. And released for us to qq about.

Blizzard announced a patch and ladder reset for Diablo 2, left the community hanging for months, and only revealed much later that the delay resulted from being forced to dedicate resources to another project. It's not like ANet is the only company doing this.
You can only provide ETAs when the project is at the top of the priority pile. For ANet, that's GW2. Anything else could get shoved onto the back burner at any time, and providing an ETA risks the PR nightmare of building up expectations and then failing to follow through on them.
That's why the PR people for large software companies try so hard to avoid making promises. Their company may not be able to keep.them and doesn't want to be bound to them.

My question is.... WHY ARE PEOPLE STILL COMPLAINING ABOUT PROBLEMS WITH GW1?!! The game itself is pretty much completed and any fixes suggested will probably be put into the game that will be next, GW2!
I would much rather the Dev's be hard at work polishing up the next installment than try to fix problems in a game that won't matter once that installment hits the shelves.
So I suggest we all stop QQ'ing and enjoy what we got.... bugs and all

Quoteforvictory.Whats the point in nerfing things that are fun to use,we need more pwoerful stuff, especially in PvE where there are only a minority of uB3r 1337 pwnage builds.Forget XTH it's the biggest waste of time yet, time that should be spent buffing unused elites and normal skills.

I don't care about XTH since I don't care about free money... however I do want to try to get some PvP rewards, even if they are linked to characters, so that's why I want it back. I think a lot of people don't think of that. Yeah, I know, I can get weapons and armor faster in PvE, but I don't want to farm and do everythign that I have already once done... basically non-stop grind... and then have to buy skills back too, what a rip. Hopefully if they redesign it I can unlock armor and weapons!

Oh wait, the qq from the guru community demanding updates and answers is what brought you here? Maybe now we know the real reason it's taking so long.
Ok all sarcasm aside the more you whine about it and demand answers, the more Anet are just going to want to tell you all to go RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO yourselves and never fix it. How about instead of crying about it every day you just let them get on with it without demanding a constant update on an issue every day.
You're all acting like you pay a subscription, oh no you just paid whatever for all the extra accounts to milk the Z-Keys, boo hoo. Deal with it and move along with your lives.

I'll just flat out leak it again:
Next update is in Augest. And distortion is something of attention that might get hit by the nerf bat. Also, Linsey might be in charge again of the update. I can't say things for sure since it was from a conversation with staff during early June. But there's still the a high chance they will fix things eventually.
So just have hope and wait a little, guys.
GW's coding is a mess and I'd bet most of you would be absolutely overwhelmed by it if you were a gw dev.
It was such a mess that they're working to develop GW2 XD
Quite the contrary, they don't have to do updates. You payed for the expansions and campaigns, so they don't have to add any new free features like Sorrow's Furnace or the Menagerie.

The Tournament House is hardly anything of importance, to me or to those who benefit greatly in cyber-cash from it, so it shouldn't be a high priority anyways.
It'll be fixed when it gets fixed, no amount of annoying new threads would hasten fixes.
Not everyone can pull a "Mursaat Rally" effectively.
Something tells me that the xth will get benefits/improvements outside the actual xth (aka: Points will find more uses) in the "PvP-Loving Update"

If Anet didn't give retroactive rewards on those books due to cash and cash alone, why should Anet bring back a system that gives people just as much, if not more, cash from trading. Because the cash itself isn't coming from no where? I don't think that's a valid reason personally. But Anet will do what Anet will do.
P.S. Martin, you are easily becoming one of my favorite Anet (or would it be NCSoft?) employees.

As far as I can see, XTH, or the lack thereof, is a very hot topic for many loyal players. So instead of repeating every week "yes, we are working on it", may I suggest Regina or Martin send us updates on how you are going to go about fixing it instead. There could then be a status update every week indicating how much progress has been made, and what the challenges are the dev is facing.

You guys have to understand: the only people really concerned about the XTH being down are the ones who have spent the most money on multiple accounts. Whether or not it was for pixelated money, they still have the right to complain the ANet if the thing they cherish the most isn't working anymore.
But, those same people have to be patient. We do not know what is wrong with the XTH, so blurting out "fix it or die" is a complaint spawned from ignorance, and thus should not be taken as seriously (IMO).
If ANet did break XTH in order to restore the economy, then w/e to me. I don't give a shit about making bets on a video game, especially if there is no downside, which leads me to one of my decisions:
One thing will help the XTH from being abused by multi-accounts is a downside to making wrong predictions. Say, take away a certain amount of RP's if they lost a prediction. That way, people will have to actually study GvG's and make wise decisions.
