Yes, but my point is I don't think YouTube is the first choice to release their trailer. I'm sure it will follow, or maybe they'll have a simultaneous release. Many people go to YouTube, after all.
YouTube HD still re-encodes some video if you don't meet their exact specifications, and can reduce quality if bitrate, resolution, or fps is lowered or changed. Although irrelevant in this case, I've seen some awful de-interlacing as well.

I'm not saying release it only to the GW2 site. I'm saying at least put it on the GW2 site. I'm quite sure many sites would get it after its first release anyway. And even if they did only release it to the GW2 site its not like it would sink into the unknown. Nearly all gaming news sites are aware the GW2 site exists and if a trailer went up on it you can be sure as hell they will report it straight away.

Slow down. You're scaring me ArenaNet. I don't play the game much these past few months. But I do check guru for the good scoops . And I must say, over the past few weeks the amount of news thats been Guild Wars 2 related at all, or even Guild Wars related in general has had a pretty big jump. And it's not even the "every 4 months we add content" thing. I'm amazed.. and scared... Lol.

haha now we get the ones who dont want information
lol 2morrow we will have alot including gw2 website and loadsa info
then we also have PAX soon

Trailers are good, but I hope its a EOTN type presentation consisting of gameplay rather than CG.
Remember the prophecies CG trailer, that doesnt look anything like Guild Wars

Yeah we've not really got news yet. All we've had so far is finds (people finding Voice Actors who have worked on it), a few pieces of concept art, a webiste with a teaser image and a video with Martin Kerstein the European CR smiling at a camera while the (brief) first part of a GW2 trailer is heard in the background. While it may seem more than what we've had the true news isnt here yet.
bamm bamm bamm
The voiceover makes it sound very much like a CG trailer. Maybe we'll get a bit of both.

At first I thought I missed something, and there was some huge update today. Then I thought the OP was just being sarcastic. Now I realize the OP is just comparing the 2 years of dead silence to the new "we're ready to talk about it" mentality.

go hide under a rock then, coryorth. If you are already overwhelmed then I feel pity for you, considering it's been a 2 year complete drought, and they HAVENT EVEN RELEASED ANY INFO YET
Personally I'm ready for the first real shred of info, then many, many more shreds to follow in very quick succession. Stuff that would make you scared, apparently.

Whatever time the trailer is released, I hope it's not like every season finale of Lost that makes me think, "Wow! Wait...WTF? Now I have to wait 'til next year for more?!?"...

Or they get so wasted and with their laptops still on these threads they could accidently upload stuff theyre not supposed to haha

I've been kinda missing some of the discussion on this topic, and I'm also very excited about the trailer, but is there any official time in wich they're going to show it at gamecom (assuming they'll post it on the internet right after)? People seem to be guessing.

I wouldn't put it past them, those geniuses...
anyway i hope that info on the races and classes will be released asap, as i want to play as a male sylvari ele lol
back on topic...
all in all, i hope we get more than a single trailer, i mean i would be happy with that, but i would also be happy if we got more concept art and more detail about the overall gameplay...

Things are looking up, GW2 is no longer vaporware (even though some extreme people will still believe it) and people have realised that Anet is probably not allowed to release much information regarding mechanics and so forth because it will interfere with Aion's release.
Personally, the huge chunk of lore and the basic storyline that they have released on the GW2 wiki has been more than enough to keep me sucking on the teet that is Anet. From what they said all those years ago in the PCGamer article bonanza was that there will be new mechanics, a new look at GW, new graphics engine to be built and the installation of the Z axis (jump ability and NOT attacking from under the bridge...) amongst other things that were suggested/promised/said. Why are people so annoyed with Anet because they simply haven't confirmed that these things have been completed? Yes the release date was hugely hit and they have never explained why that happened other than "there is a lot to work on GW2 and it's coming together nicely". but the scheduled release date is most likely so it doesn't clash with NCsoft's other MMOs in circulation (again, Aion).
GG on the rumours of a possible trailer. But no one will see that anywhere near the Aion (again!) release.

Lovin' the image btw. If you look closly i could be haluinating but isn't the either the Asclon City or Canthan loading screen concept art that is burning... Anyone checked for guildwars2.com linking to other pages within it. |
Definitely looking forward to more info soon. Hopefully within the next two weeks before I ship out for basic.

Looking at the EOTN trailer, it doesn't necessarily have to be a CG, but I too am afraid that's what we'll get. Some actual ingame footage would be amazing, but honestly I'd be happy with a CG as well - and who wouldn't really?

That's the schedule. NcSoft isn't specifically mentioned as having a press conference so I assume it will be at either the opening one or perhaps something less formally mentioned during the day.

Yours being the 612th post in this thread, there is no way we would have already seen this info.
Many thanks

I would guess a beta this year, or early next year, and maybe release in spring of next year around the same time GW 1 was released. It'd make sense.
Farcry Deathblade
Hope it's a combo of cg and gameplay...with lots of character art!!!

Oh give the guy a break, I didn't know there'd been a teaser video, and not everyone wants to read through 32 pages of "omgwafflebbq!"

Good lord. I shudder when I remember the Prophecies trailer. It was just...It wasnt great, but it wasn't bad. Just generic and bland. I hope the GW 2 trailer isn't as dull.

To those saying we can learn from a CGI game trailer... Well lets look at the Prophecies trailer here. We learned there are swords, axes, bows, and monsters.
Now if we can just gain that wealth of info going into this early stage with GW2, think of the possibilities.

They haven't used CG at all since Faction's release. While they might use it again, it would be odd for them to go back to it after saying it's not worth it.

It for sure will be a CG trailer, I'm 99% positive on this. Whether there will be a gameplay trailer or a second trailer with in-game footage is another hing entirely though...

Yeah they did say that it wasnt worth it to create a CGI trailer....perhaps they decided to have one made once again due to it being a whole new game rather than just another campaign. I would be very suprised if it wasnt a CGI trailer.

It's worth it for a new launch, and I think there's an unwritten rule somewhere that says an MMO must have a CG trailer, since they all seem to do it.

After watching Martin's little "teaser" video a few times, I found myself trying to look at the reflection in his glasses when he looks up towards the screen (monitor?). But, alas, all I can make out is color LOL
This thread has grown so long with people speculating, some dismissing everything, some getting really excited, others shredding them for it... What confuses me is: this is "Guild Wars" Guru... obviously a fansite for people who love Guild Wars. Is it safe to say that if you joined here and participate, you're a fan of GW (both old and new?). Why would someone bash on another for being excited about this, within the games own fan territory? Come on folks...
(Bill & Ted: "Be excellent to each other")
I must say, I am extremely excited to see anyone from the GW2 camp uttering a "WORD" about the game, much less Twitter, YouTube, GW2.com, GWGuru, FaceBook, etc... This is a treasure trove of information compared to what we've gotten in the last year. Of all the games I've been waiting for release, and all the games I currently own, Guild Wars 2 is the one I most anticipate. This game will finally bring my guild back together, who have all but moved to WoW in the last year (and they're getting rather tired of that game actually).
Gameplay footage: I've rarely seen a new game trailer show actual gameplay footage... it's not as fancy as an intro movie. They usually want the first impression to be more epic than gameplay footage itself. And that's fine by me, I still want to see what they have!!
GuildWars2.com: I think this site will start to come alive, if not after Gamescom, then surely before or during PAX. At that time, maybe we'll see some storylines, character info, release countdown, etc...
For now though, I'll go back to my Paragon (first time I've created one since buying NightFall back when it came out). People have knocked the Paragon but I've been enjoying this character.

You think it's going to take them 1 more year? They've been working on it 2 maybe 2+ years. I don't think it's going to take them another year to release it, I could be wrong, but I think that's why they held off on information. I think they are nearing the final stretches and are getting ready to set a release date. I'm pretty sure that, at least we'll get a release date this year, if not a beta. If we do get a beta, you can expect a release by spring or early summer next year.

Mike O'Brien said "We still have a lot of work ahead of us, but from here on out we’ll be able to provide you with more regular updates" so I don't think it's all done. It's just in a good enough state to let people see it.
So probably people will start alpha'ing it soon, while they keep developing it and playing around with things based on player feedback. My guess is that the top GvGers (from 2005-2006 at least) and those lucky enough to be old alpha players, will get GW2 alpha invitations.
