All I'm saying is that trailers are not proof that a game will ever hit the shelf. I'll love it if GW2 comes out, and will be staying up extra late to catch whatever they reveal about it today. Nobody ever really plans to work on a game for years and never release it. But until it's out, it's not out.

I think the point Faer is trying to make is just because there's a trailer doesn't mean the games going to be released.
Now, I'm sure at the time GW2 is definitely going to be released, but you never know what the future holds. I really, really doubt GW2 isn't going to be released, but hey, shit can happen.

I simply assume DNF is near-completed based on the videos/trailer, screenshots, articles, development time (1997 wtf), and the fact they still work on it from time to time. Me thinks the game is really bad and/or filled with too many bugs, and they are debating whether it's worth fixing & releasing or just canning all-together.

Basically, there are DNF betas from quake1 style engine all the way to far cry style engine in about two year intervals.
Goal of DNF was not to develop game, it was to develop new engines with cool features or to dissect commercial engine and add features, which were then used in real actual games which were supposed to be finished (Prey, Serious Sam ..., i have no clue what else)

It is not comparable to GW2 in any way, really. Point of GW2 development is to create game, not tech demo.
