Sorry I haven't been able to get to your piece yet, Hail. Semester just started and depending on my professors, I may or may not be swamped with other art projects. I'm hoping I can get to your piece before the Halloween workshop and get it wrapped up beforehand.

Great to hear from you Charlie! Hope things are going well other than the possible busyness that's coming up ^_^

Having a six hour class that ends at 9:45 at night makes me a sad camperrrrrrrrrr
Edit: And happy belated b-day, Raven

Oh, gross. That's definitely worse than the six and a half hour class I had spring quarter that went from 9am-3:30pm (which was on Fridays, of course). Long classes suck.

*BARF*
Friday classes? Granted my class is really late at night, it is on a Monday. But to have a six hour class on the last day of the week? I think you had it worse, my friend.

Friday classes are the bane of my existence. The way our schedules are set up, classes meet twice a week...but if it's on a Friday, that's the only day it is, and they only put studio classes on Fridays. Which means it's going to be a six hour class. And to top it off, it was color theory. I swear I didn't learn a damn thing and it was the most boring class to sit through ever.
I would much rather have an 8am class (only studio classes start that early) than a Friday class. And I currently have a 45 minute commute each way

And a six hour color theory class? ON FRIDAY? Hnnnngghhhhh. That's some rough stuff, V.

I go to a freaking art school, too. Eesh. At least the rest of my week was done by 2pm, unlike fall and winter last year where I was in class from 8am-6pm half the week. I actually had time to work more than three days a week and hence I was doing something other than working and being in class and hence actually had time to do all of my projects for class XD I'm cutting down my class load to only three classes instead of four, though - I really don't care if it takes longer to get my degree, I can't afford to do more than that (both in terms of money and managing my time). And I'm doing graphic design - degree really isn't all that necessary, as much as people want to see one.

You should seriously lay into your department about the scheduling times. Do you go to a private art institute?
I'm in a similar situation as you for my schedule - taking three studio classes and a capstone. They'd probably find me dead in my bathtub if I ended up taking four studios in a single semester.

Of course! Do you really need to ask? There'll be plenty of time to draw when I'm dead.

Yes I do (I attend one of the Art Institutes). I shouldn't wind up with such crappy schedules again since I've gotten my basic courses and pre-reqs out of the way now, so I'm not being shoved into classes that I have to take before I can take anything else.
Four studios is not something I want to think about, three was bad enough.

@Tom: When you start taking art classes, steer clear of three studios in one semester. Unless you're absolutely certain at least one of the classes workloads won't be anything serious. That's the plan I've got going for me this Fall.
@V: I attend a state uni, but their art department is really large and a major section of the school. Hopefully you don't have to deal with such terrible schedules again. Especially considering the tuition of a private art institute - those guys should be offering you tons of class options.
Verene
They do, it's just difficult when you're starting out because there's classes that everyone must take before they can really do anything else, and the few I could have taken before doing the pre-req courses filled up extremely quickly. And haha, yeah, three studios in one term. I learned that's a mistake myself.
Charlie Dayman
I think the only reason I'm getting away with three studio courses this semester is because I had one of this year's professors for a class last semester. It was a lot of work, but it was all done during class hours. As long as I get all my work done while on campus, I should be in the clear.

I have been away from GWG and Nolani Academy for far too long... And I missed the update for that beautiful Mesmer! -drool- That is amazing - the background is stunning. Beautiful. Fantastic. Exquisite. Insert other synonyms here.

Glad you like it, Drel.
School is whooping my ass right now, so I haven't had any time/too tired to start on any character works. Or anything non-school related for that matter. We'll see how it goes later this weekend if I can get some of my class projects done. And this paper that doesn't want to write itself.

Just some quick sketches as homework for one of my classes. Lessons on studying the masters and their approach to anatomy. I know it's not GW related, but anatomy references are always nice.
Picture sanz-Awesome face is here: http://cubeupload.com/files/ece30bbackabreference.jpg
But keep in mind that I did these sketches relatively quickly and didn't use plum lines to properly flesh out measurements. If you're looking for an exact physical layout of anatomy, best to look at the actual artists we had to reference.

You are so great with pencil. Just the legs on the first fellow looks a bit short
But man, this is nice, I tried drawing back muscles ones, but its not that easy as I hoped it would be
May I ask what materials you use? HB pencil, kneader eraser, just tissue?

Charlie Dayman
Only materials I used was a mechanical pencil and my grungy old sketchbook. Virtually no erasing was done - whatever marks I laid down were permanent. Short 1 hour and maybe +15-20 minute drawings, so I really didn't have the chance to refine everything heavily.

I wish I could draw humans better, I am terrible at that.
I can draw envoirments pretty good, and fantasy creatures too.
But I just fail at humans.. QQ.

But I just fail at humans.. QQ. It just takes a takes constant practice and learning from mistakes. Repetition is the best way to learn and memorize this sort of thing.

I would definitely want in on this, would just have to come up with something for one of my characters. lol

Aside from school nonsense, I might be updating the front page with sketches and anatomical references. Also, something completely non-GW related to come later today or tomorrow. And now for something, completely different.
EDIT: And now for something completely different.
Foundation CG class project where we have to make three posters relating to war, global warming, etc. I didn't feel like doing anything political, but the teacher gave me the go-ahead to do some game-related art.
Background is kind of half-assed, but whatever.

Holy cow, a 5'6 portrait? That's as tall as I am!
And too bad you didn't make that TF2 propaganda earlier. I think they had some sort of contest exactly like that a while back.
