I just cannot get excited about all those transformation and summoning stones at all!
Too much carnival for me.

I was hoping for an EL version. Oh well, I will use these.
I'd bet money there will be a crafter at Naphui Quarter after the event for these stones.

Some of the builds of the celestials are awful, they just threw in stuff that fitted the animals behaviour. I'll stick to my regular mysterious stones...
Shayne Hawke
I hope that somebody finds value in these stones that I can sell them sometime. Summoning stones have no value to me.
Arduin
Wow, new models.

Lol! The snake is an armless Krait!

It's the year of the rabbit next year.
So I am guessing they'll re-use this bunny. Sadly it also means we'll get ANOTHER mini-bunny.
After that - it's the dragon. It sounds pretty decent if GW will still be around then.

Yeah, I've been pointing that out upier ever since the very first CNY. Go year of the dragon!

Like they said,
People are NEVER satisfy. Damn if I do and Damn if I don't.
Had there been no celestial summoning stones, there would be no b*tching. Be thankful that there was something other than a minipet that was new. If you don't like it, trash it and pretend you never gotten it. Don't b*tch about it.
TY ANET from someone who actually appreciate it.

Personally, I'm rather burned out on GW anyway, so I didn't attend the finale (or do any quests, etc.), so I'm not at all disappointed in what I got. (I am a bit disappointed with the crap I got doing VSF runs tho - was hoping for an Embersteel.)
Sounds like it was some summoning stones which are probably more useful than some stupid mask or mini.

My guess is they did that so we can see all the celestial animals without waiting 12 years xD. One more reason is that since GW2 is coming they will probably stop adding new stuff to the events of GW1. Cool stuff.
Lord Dagon
eh to me w/ all the meta builds for ea profession you can run i think celes jst kind of get in the way. But this is me saying it (and the entire kiss district i was in lol) So i was curious if ANYONE was happy w/ this surprise. I see more use in being a celestrial(maybe an el that does the same thign as the stone and transforms u int o ANY of the celestrials?). Also i kind of thought they might do something w/ the new costume system they out in. I mean as of right now they implemented that to get 2 costume sets in the game.. which is kinda pointless imo. So was i disapointed? yeah i abit i wanted something that wouldnt be used up in about 10days. Will i get mad thats what i got? nah its better then last yr w/ no "special reward". So it was a good thought by anet i jsut think they could've done something cooler
FengShuiDove
Yeah I'm alright with seeing the character models of all the celestials beforehand. Won't be using these all the time but meh, at least it's something different.
A for Effort at least.

Anyone seen what some of these skill bars are yet for some of these ? I know I've seen a few QQ posts in here complaining but nothing on what the actual skill bars are. Anyone has a link would appreciate it.
NVM seeing most of the builds now on Wikki, some are not that bad but I guess if it isn't a cookie cutter build nobody wants it right, just isn't what's the word " LEET " enough ?
Any how we got an added item from Anet this year be thankful, I like em

That's what I thought in the beginning. Then I got bored and started to use summoning stones and occasionally other consumables.
It's not a matter of "can't win without them", it's just that it tends to be more fun and adds variety. Also, can speed up the killing and save time. |

Was hoping for another el summoning stone, except availiable to lvl 20 chars but the stones are in ok addition imo
Lord Dagon
maybe they will come up w/ something better next year. xD

I don't understand why ArenaNet seems to think that people want more summoning stones when they have such limited usefulness.
There are so many other consumables that provide better benefits and have almost no restrictions on their use. You can load up on consets all day as long as you have the gold to pay for them.
Despite that almost every consumable out there has no restriction in PvE, ANet wants to limit summoned creatures by having the nearly silly Summoning Sickness which pretty much kills it from being used in any serious party. A summoned creature can die within 10 minutes if you run into some bad luck. For me, the most useful summon that I've ever seen has to be the Mercantile ones, just because you can use them to sell loot or buy ID/salvage kits, and they don't even fight (or do much of anything) if you're using them right.
I don't know why they don't just go ahead and get rid of the useless Summoning Sickness since the game is easily run with gimmick builds even without the stones. Even if people do start buying the stones up and using them on speed runs... Who cares? At least it's junk that people have to craft and spend money at a NPC to get, and it'll actually serve as a modest gold sink.

This is how ANet makes sure that H/H teams are nerfed relative to human teams, which can carry a total of 24 PvE skills per team rather than just 3. Summoning sickness is just another way to promote partying.
Turbo Ginsu
Lol. I'm sure it'll work just as well for them as all the other things they've done to promote it. TBH, all they really need to do to promote party play, is add their own anti-noob code, which automatically loads a bot and takes over controls at the first hint of "Teh sux0r!", not unlike their already added anti-farm code and the super secretive (But there nonetheless) anti-fun code and the soon to be added anti-moldbreaker code..Just for those types who'd like to be different, or run builds the purists don't like...
karlik
I do use summon stones now and then - not needed but speeds things up and some do look cool. But Nic gives me so many that I gave away a ton to low levels for halloween and wintersday.
So I'll use 'em, and they are kinda cool - but I can't argue with people who don't like 'em.

totally underwhelming but not suprising

Not unsurprising, really. Actually, outright expected considering the wording on the website; still, it was nice of them and it's not like we had to go out of the way to get it.
That being said, I'm flooded with summoning stones from Nicky and this, and I don't know what to do with them. (I tried to burn them on snowball farming during Wintersday and Wintersday Redux but evidently my boyfriend and I have accumulated so many we didn't manage to finish them.)

Eh. I don't mind summoning stones. They can be handy when vanquishing.
I do have about half a storage pane of various types of summoning stones, though. Probably will not use them all up any time soon.

For the same reason why you can only have 3 PvE skills per skill bar. It pushes you to party with other players.

No, again its an artificial and stupid means of power balance, and has nothing to do with partying.

No, it is meant to nerf single player teams against multi player teams, encouraging players to party up. In the same exporable area, as long as your team does not have a living summon, a 8 player team can use a summoning stone every 7.5 mins on average while a 1 player team can only use it every 1 hour. That, is the effect of the summoning sickness.
Since each team can only have 1 living summon from a summoning stone at any one time, but summoning sickness is a character effect, not a team wide effect. Summoning sickness would, of course, effect single player teams more than multi player teams.

They are handy, but I'm overloaded on them. The event stones were a nice lil surprise that they didn't have to do and they're pretty when you use them.
tmakinen
Summoning stones may serve some function but so far I have been unable to find one. I think that I popped one once and failed to be impressed, so currently the stuff is almost as coveted as kidney stones, something that just clogs your system and is a general PITA, or in kidney stones' case, about five inches higher up.
Not that I'm complaining or anything, it's free stuff and all.

If I'm correct, they don't give party pts, so, pretty useless.

I really like the snake model. I would pay a lot for that mini. In 2013...
BenjZee
Snake oo, atleast they put some nice little effort into the animals that arn't in Guild Wars. Look at the horse and monkey awwww
Though i can't help wonder Why they didn't make the rooster a giant version of the little chickens/rooster birds on shing jea island. Wasn't too impressed with dog either, i know you want something magnificant but they shoulda made a giant version of the pug from the shing jea arena.
