The colour scheme you've picked for the background works really well. I can't wait to see the finished version. Both the purple and the yellow really draw the eye, and it'll be interesting to see which one wins out.

Thanks! I really hope I'll be in time to finish it, won't be able to work on it monday and tuesday so only tomorrow left D: Gonna be more towards a speedpainting again, since I'm really rushing in custom brushes in there

Don't worry about repeating what's been done before, with the volume of art featuring Alacrity, there's likely to be overlap somewhere ~
and balancing a dagger would work very nicely here
besides, the angle is different from that other pic.
other ideas to use all that space - casting/having just cast a spell, with a crackle of magic
perhaps her hand stretches towards us (palm up or down~? or facing us, up as if to offer or cast a spell, down as if to say "that's far enough")
- she might be holding something, doesn't have to be a weapon; GW is full of items .. maybe a Tome (or part of one)
or a consumable (examples: a half-full Sugary Blue Drink, or some other readily recogniseable item)
but any cheeky gesture, such as pistol-fingers, is well in character for Ala :}
If that doesn't quite fit in with brushing her hair away, you can still make her raised hand do something else
eg, suppressing a giggle (would need to adjust arm, so that her hand is reaching, not yet covering her mouth - shame to cover up that smile~!)
or a finger over her lips, not so much "shh" (but could be), more like http://browse.deviantart.com/?qh=&se...20hand#/dt96yh
(most others I can think of, only make sense if she's leaning towards the viewer)

How about instead of a dagger balancing on her finger, a little voodoo doll? Like the effigy thing in Guildwars. Balancing on one leg on the tip of her finger. Or is Ala not so much into the voodoo

so yes, it's part of her GW history .. she had some sort of notoriety for it in AB's, in those early Faction days before the rollface builds
edit: oh, use whichever will go better, but if I had to pick, then Ala would have had Dragon Scythes in those days, and also Korambits if something shinier would suit

i just love looking at your wips--this has been helping me a lot with my own work in a way, learning from just hese pictures. i love your realism and the wonderful choice of colours. Hailfails is looking amazing with the mood, and the assassin's skin is looking so real--lovely
also back on that flipped image discussion i left you hanging in, when my images get too large, i resize it just for the sake of flipping. that helps

ooh i love it! i know i already said it, but this may be my favourite piece of yours in terms of experimenting with colour theory/schemes. the red just makes it so murky and mysterious...and for some reason, i really love how you draw mouths.

The weather today was too sunny to sit inside, so I undusted my pencil again. Geeh, was a long time ago I drew traditionally. Anyway, here is what the day brought.
Note 1. the reference for the female was wearing a dress aswell, but I wanted to practice bodylines, not dresses so left that out. Thus the highheels. So no, my reference was not from a pornmagazine or something along those lines
Note 2. They were drawn on simple white paper, I just put this texture behind it to make it a bit easier on the eyes. The bright white is sometimes killing my eyes.

just something...and this MAY just be me, but i've noticed when viewing a person from the side, their eyes look much less like a oval and more like "< )" shape, if you know what i mean, especially on realism, it really helps with the anatomy imo. but it's only a suggestion... : )

Cool poses on that action scene. I think the left arm holding the scythe has a bit of an awkward hand placement - as if it should be placed at a farther distance from the other hand.
And it's a bit hard to tell right now, but does that hand have an overhand or underhand grip? Right now, it looks like she has an underhand grip which doesn't make sense if she's wielding a two-handed polearm.
