Rarity - Staff Skins

Ok, so its time to talk about staff skins. Lets work together here and try and come up with a rarity list of sorts. We all know the more rare staves are the Canthan Dragon Staff, Bo Staff, and the Platinum Staff. There are a few a tier lower like Celestial, Forbidden, Zodiac, and Ghostly. I want to also touch on some other not well known skins. There are many skins that drop commonly in white or blue that are actually quite rare to find perfect gold versions other than those listed above.

*Addition* We are going to put the staffs into tiers of rarity.

I recently got a 20/10 Air Raven staff and cant remember over the years having seen many nice raven staves. They are not very well known and the demand is low but how rare is this staff really ?

I also just got a 20/20 Canthan Air staff. I dont remember seeing many of that particular skin as well. How many of those are out there ?

Feel free to share some of your skins and try and group them together rather than mixed.

hmm got 2 or 3 of those with req8 prenerfed dualmod.... (pretty bad mods tho..). might add screenshots later...

Plagueborn staff are not exactly rare but they do come in all variety and attribute.

I got a 20/20 high req illusion jewelled staff (twin dragon), i believe they don`t drop much. Dropped about 2 weeks ago when i was in tyria.

Yes, Twin Dragon Illusion is a rarer skin.

Plagueborn are semi rare. More towards the middle.

Double dragon aint that rare Imo, getting loads while chesting in Cantha

Raven Staff, well its kinda rare now as it drops alot from shiverpeaks which noneone rly plays/farms anymore, but also its real unwanted skin..

For staffs. Rarity for canthans goes imo: Bo>plat>dragon>outcast>celestial>forbidden>cockrat rice>plagueborn>jade/Amber

I didnt bother add Zodiac & few like divine staff, Dark tendril, Winged staff etc.

I will have to disagree with you on the order. Dragon Staff is by far the rarest staff skin in the game. Platinum may possibly be more rare than Bo as well.

I really like the Divine Staff. Great skin and fairly rare as well.

I said Twin Dragon is a rarer skin but of course thats meant with 20/20 as the mods

Well What i said is my own exprience about em.. From chesting 13k chests in cantha and farming alot etc ive had 1 gold bo staff, maybe 10-20 plat staffs and 50+ dragons

I think twin dragon illusion come only with illusion attribute. So a 20/20 is less rare then perfect 20/20 plagueborn.

At least i know that i sold one on guru after few bumps for much less.

I've farmed (including chests where dragon staves drop) both bo and dragon staves quite a bit.
18 gold bo staves
1 gold dragon staff

but that could just be my bad luck. I think dragon is more rare though. I have many less chests opened than you. about 2400 in cantha, and not many in dragon staff areas.

Well he is just taking a piss at me thats all. I have gotten Bo at a ratio of 6:1 vs Dragon and thats even while farming Dragon's. I may as well claim ive gotten 10,000 Gold Max 20/20 Bo Staves but only 1 Dragon if I wanted to sound silly as well. 50:1 your sir are silly.

Well Thats the truth Cleave lol. Ive had hundreds Purple bo staffs sure, but only one gold ever

I'll also cast a vote to add Outcast to the list. Nice gold versions are probably worthy of being at least on your second tier with Forbiddens.

And I'll second system.fan's request to see a sexy 20/20 Obsidian Earth Staff! I love those res-shire staffs.

Since I live to mess with Cleav I'll slightly derail his topic here and ask if anyone has (or has pics of) nicely dual mod inherent offhand skins that reappeared in NF. I'm thinking of things like Stone and Wooden Chakrams, Aureate Chalices and the claw Grim Cestas. (No, those were not new skins introduced in NF. They've always been a possible drop in Prophecies, just like the "eye" skin Flame Artifacts and the obsidian skin Earth Staff.)

My 2 cents on the matter ...

I've had two "Orrish" earth staff drop in 5+ years. They were both 10/10 global (sold well over 4 years ago).

I've had two gold Bo staves (lots of grapes). Best one was 20 all/9 all r9 divine (still have it) & the other was utter poop.

I've had 3 gold Outcast staves and they were all crap ... r13 reduce disease, poison, and one had no mod.

I've had maybe 8 of the Mursaat Jeweled staves drop for me, all from chests in Whitmans Folly. Today yielded the latest, which was r12 20/19.


Never had a Platinum staff drop for me, ever, but for me those are kinda like Black Dyes ... which next to the Plat staff is (for me) the rarest drop in the game (1!)

Yes, I agree Outcast would be a tier 4 rarity. I think I will start to separate the staves into tiers. Instead of arguing which is the rarest or if the one you like is rarer than the next we can just chime in on which tier it belongs.

With the pre-nerf staves, I'm assuming 10/20 would be in tier 5 (what about 10/10s)? Are nerfed skins (like the tyrian/dead-skinned water and fire staves) and nerfed attribtues (restoration zodiac, celestial, etc.) included in the tier ranking?

Well, off the top of my head, I'd say Evil Eye Staff and the Canthan-skin varieties of Ele staffs should be on the list somewhere.

What is the point of this list? Is it just a general list of skins you don't see very often, or is the idea more to help give folks a little head's up to avoid selling something for 10k or less that might be far more valuable? If the latter, I suspect you'll need to include better details about what kind of stats they need. For example, a Jade Staff with inherent blind reduction is probably merch food while an inherent matched 20/20 Bone Staff is probably not. A core-skin Air Staff with inherent 20/10 is almost merch food while an inherent 20/10 Forbidden is probably not.

If something like that is the final goal, you may need more of a table format than just a list.

No I didnt have values as an interest for this thread. Obviously since Bone dragon are in demand and have a value while not being rare. 20/20 & 20/10 are the only mods of value so thats what the list is meant to reflect. Sure some 20/19 mods are decent but you can gauge that off the list by using common sense. I do plan on adding all staff skins to the list but after an hour or so I needed a break.
