Well why don't you then, the costumes are optional and have no affect on the game play.

So, you want an non-optional cash shop?
Look, they need to make money. Period. Better this way then have to BUY bonus quests... |
Hell, I'd be happier if we got better customer service. It's already obvious that ANet doesn't really think ahead that well, or they wouldn't be in this situation. Or if they did foresee this coming, wth? o_O

On the other hand, your customer service complaints are valid, although I have had similar (bad) experiences with some subscription games, so I can't say how much the quality of customer service depends on the business model.
Either way, time to go do the first quest.

Do I need these costumes inorder to participate? that would SUCK!

And we're allowed to disagree with you and refute your arguments by noting how it's nothing but an impression of "cheap". For anyone playing this game, if they didn't even know the cash shop existed their gameplay would be the same as for those that bought everything available in it. How that makes the cash shop anything but an imaginary problem is beyond me.

I completely expect people to disagree with me. And then again, people have also agreed with me. Like you said, it comes down to opinion. In my mind, I see this as a bad choice that they're making.
And I think that it's pretty fair to say that generally speaking, subscription games are miles ahead of "free" games. I've never played GuildWars because it was easy to communicate with the staff, that's for sure. But then again, you get what you pay for.
I guess my beef is that they're hiding behind the "Hey, you're paying for costumes so we don't really have to give you anything other than that."
I'd rather pay a monthly fee than have to deal with that.

I personally love the costumes.
However, is it just me, or are there 3 female costumes and only 1 male costume? It looks like the male costume in each set is the same...
EDIT: Oops. Keiran's tux has a belt and a slightly taller hat...
But the other two are the same, right?

These micro transaction skins seem to be propping up the 'free' content.

Its all good and fine that we get new content, but its coming at the cost of the dev team working on halloween, GW:Beyond, and wintersday where costumes are associated with the new content.
The skill updates are equally important but glaringly absent.
Lets hope we see a substantial skill update soon.
Trader of Secrets
has anyone found 3rd?

Back in the day We had to pay full price for each of the two campaigns. Now we're getting new quest lines and a ton of extra options for farming absolutely free thanks to storage space purchases and costumes. Who cares if they're selling for 1/4th of campaign prices? They're totally optional.
Truth be told I was a bit butthurt when the initial batch of costumes hit the market, but that ship has sailed. I've found way better stuff to get butthurt over since then.

My point exactly. I'm putting money into GuildWars by buying their content and you'd think that I'd get something in return, since all they're giving me is copied pixels. Even before GuildWars was scratching for money, years ago, they failed at customer service.
I still don't think you get what I'm saying when I say that by them just having one huge optional cash shop, it makes the game feel incredibly cheap. |
Ok so what you're saying is that on top of what you pay for, you should get free content? On top of the campaigns that you pay for, which have new content in them, you should get free content and that the addition of optional items which are a bit over-priced cheapens your experience?
Well you get free content so I don't know what your problem is. Sure sometimes the support is a tad slow, but you're not paying for that directly either.
Do you also hate foreplay and the buildup to Christmas and the smell of a meal you're about to eat?

It feels cheap. It looks cheap. If you're fine with that, then that's your business. I feel like this game is turning into one of those "F2P...with a cash shop" games.
Take it or leave it.

You're not paying a monthly fee and you're still getting free content on top of what you've paid for. Over the years there's been loads of free content added. SF, DoA, MOX, WiK are some examples.
They tried the paid content thing before too, the optional bonus mission pack, which again, you didn't have to buy and the weapons gave you no serious advantage.
So to say that all they're doing is putting costumes in the store and charging you for them is a little bit hypocritical. Sure you don't have to like them, you don't have to buy them either though. Noone's gonna think you're not contributing to the cause if you don't and if you do, it's cos you like them.
I bought all the costumes so far because I liked them. I'm not too keen on these so I probably won't buy them, but I'm still getting free content.
But anyway, end of the day I think even with all the failings, GW is still a better game than most out there.

I spoke to Kristen to get more details about the costumes.
The Groom costume is a full three-piece tuxedo with: long tails, gold belt, tartan cape with gold clasps. The tall top had has cross-buttoned ribbons that dangle in the back. There are two version of this: a black version, and a dyeable version.
The Groomsman costume is a more suit-like (with shorter tails) outfit that can double as formal wear outside of a wedding. It has no belt, no cape, and a shorter top hat with a button and no ornate ribbon dangling.
The female tuxedo is custom-made. It was tailored specifically for female characters. It has mesh and ribbon detailing that matches the groom and bride. The female tuxedo comes with another version of the top hat to match the outfit, complete with decorative ribbon dangles.
The Bride has a long layered satin dress with layers of ruffle mesh trimmed with satin ribbon and coordinating mesh sleeve. Dress is trimmed with gold flowers and leaves, including an arm band to attach the sleeve. Her formal up-do hairstyle has double flowing satin and ribboned veils with gold flowers and tiny white flower details. Hair decoration comes complete with gold flower and white flower bell earrings. She does have a garter as well as satin ribbon shoes. Bride dress comes in white as well as another dyeable version (so that when it dyes, the details still show because the dye system can be finicky… and the dress absolutely needed to look good in white).
Bridesmaid/formal dress: Because bridesmaid dresses are traditionally less ornate than the bride and Gwen’s was already streamlined for style and her personality, we felt dressing the members of the wedding party in formal attire would be more appropriate. Formal dress has matching shoes, necklace, bracelet and shoulder sash. In the back is a cascade of ribbons and large petals to match the flowing decorations of the front skirt. Her formal hair has columns of curls and matching mesh decoration.
And lastly:
Susan Jessup designed and implemented the female tuxedo and the formal dress.
Kristen Perry designed and implemented the groom, groomsmen, and bride outfits.

Though I am always happy for more free content, which is something we've all been wishing for for years, a wedding quest?? Really? We couldn't have something cool like a plot about the Charr or something? And I really don't understand people's/ANet's obsession with Gwen. I really couldn't care less about her and I certainly don't care that she's getting married to some Joe Schmoe uninvolved NPC. This is going to be one sequence that I'm definitely going to skip, though I will be curious to see how this particular event is important enough to GW2 history to be worth making a questline about it (when compared to everything else in history you could've made a questline about).
Oh God, I agree with this so much. It seems almost like an excuse to make and pimp more pretty costumes.

I did the first quest ,the second quest I go to the emblem and there is no quest to take? think mine is bugged.

Personally, I love this. I am happy to finally see what happened with Thackery. Been waiting for this content.
And definitely looking forward to the wedding and everything else. And new costumes? And wait what? Top Hats? Seriously? Who doesn't love that? And the dresses are gorgeous as well. Loving the new costumes.
Curious though, done the first and second part, but we have been searching the entire jungle and haven't found any third item. Maybe there was only two? And we have to wait for the third? Cause currently, the entire jungle has been swept, and nothing has shown up.
Loving it so far though. Keep up the great work

Also searched the entire Tyrian jungle (excluding EotN areas). As of yet no luck, perhaps try those out? I've even had people suggest Cantha but that seems a bit farfetched

I just tried again and managed to get the quest

I am thinking... Maybe its just like WiK, not all the chain available yet?

Possibly, but why release two parts at once and then just stop there?
