Live Team News: Updated 3rd March - Feature Build Details Confirmed
Aljasha
It really depends on your mindset and how you test things. You could run 2k tests and cover only 20% of the code or run 10 tests and cover everything. This happens after balance updates are pushed to live too, builds are created nobody from the test department thought of and dominate the meta until the next skill update is released.
The test environment tries to simulate the real environment, but sometimes you can't be thorough enough. Sorry to burst your bubble on software test.

Most people complaining are probably just having a jab at the Test Krewe. The reality is the bug didn't hurt the game in any notably persisting way but the Test Krewe are given privileges that will upset other players. Some players feel like their feedback is invalidated by the existence of the Test Krewe - the dervish update preview was sold to us as a primer not a request for feedback - that's what the TK is for. This in turn makes players feel like their voices are less important because they are not on the TK. This will in return result in the TK being called on any and every mistake they make with harsh criticism.
Aljasha
It's pretty important to emphasize that the TK is only privileged in distance between developers and player base. The feedback of the TK is, of course, easier to read by the developers, because it is concentrated in one spot and written by far less people, but they do read most unofficial forums (especially guru 1&2) and actively participate in discussions on the official wiki.
Also, many bugs that are listed here or somewhere else are forwarded to AN. Continue to identify and report bugs and problems, please.
Note: Sometimes you experience hard times as a tester, so it is not all about fun in the TK.

When it comes to fixing things, there are certain limitations.
The two most important ones are time and resources.
You'll notice that sometimes some minor things get fixed, while other that would seem more important to players are not.
That's not because they consider more important the other fixes.
That's usually because those fixes they make take far less time and resources, and when you balance in your hands making 10 small changes that will affect 50K people, and making 1 change that will affect 10K and also cost more and take out someone from GW2 development to help, you must go for the 10.
Many people may not like that, but that's how such things usually work in most developing processes.

After using Google Chrome to translate this site I got info that along with EB and 7 heroes, Cpt. Langmar is returning with 9 new dailies, something about Party Ready Check and tweaked UI. Duh!

Did that say something about controlling minions?

Guild Wars is still a loyal fan base and dedicated players to count, let that be clear. Although everyone is looking forward to the first playable version and the release of Guild Wars 2, but the developers have not provided the original Guild Wars. Take the brand new update for Guild Wars, titled Embark Beach. This adds a whole series of novelties and related content to the game, tweaks and improvements where necessary and ensures that you get a lot of new things to do in the "free" online game world of Guild Wars. This update adds a new outpost far, that has both Embark Beach and content for those who enjoy group play and those who prefer their own to explore the game world. Do you enjoy in good company at parties step you can make up to seven people (which was formerly three), Captain Langmar, formerly Lieutenant, is back and now has nine dailies in store for you, your minions and get your Party Ready Check an enhanced and customized User Interface and so on. Coming days we serve you a special with all the info, once again exclusive to your course. Pending a handful of new and exclusive screens again in front of our loyal visitors 9lives. |

Here an italian article regarding Embark Beach.
The article say:
Embark Beach will go live tomorrow;
7 heroes party;
Vanquishes Zaishen;
Daily quest in pre-searing;
new Hero panel;
change to druncard and survivor titles;
some uncomprensible change on the friends panel;
is it true or not? the article mentions official sources...

Updates tend to go out on a Thursday, to give them Friday to fix any immediate game breaking issues before the weekend so it's a possibility.

Vanquishes Zaishen;
Interesting.
Daily quest in pre-searing;
Depending on the reward, this could totally change LDoA.
I become more and more curious about the coming update.

Seems like some outlets where a bit over-enthusiastic.
Obviously you will get all the information in English (and German, French etc.) once we put this update live. And it is my pleasure to tell you that this will be tomorrow. And no, I will not give you a time. |

Daily pre-searing quest?
Argh. Here's to a diluted LDoA title.
I won't whine; the rest looks nice.

Pretty sure the amount of complains will strongly depend on the amount of XP the daily quest gives.
If the LDoA quests give the same amount of experience as say halve a day to a day of deathleveling, there wont be much noise, a bit, sure, but not much.
Now if they give you the title for just a week or two worth of quests (like ZQ with 20-45 min each), a good number of people will feel a bit cheated.

Knowing Stumme the objective is definitely to make the title easier/ "water it down." Where Lindsey was conservative on titles, Stumme has showered us in holiday consumables and in HotN, oppressor weapons. How much is debatable, but we can be certain that some people who ground it out will complain.

I'm kind of concerned with daily pre-searing quests. I consider the LDoA to be the 'elite' if there is considered an elite in GW1. But hey, I got my pre-sear toon all set for for 2 years now (lvl 17 with best gear and good 50k)
Yep, GW2Guru seems more excited *shrug*. It was the same way with WiK. We had 250+ pages, and the GW1Guru equiv at like 15.

Am I the only one that finds it odd that Martin posted that info on the GW2Guru forum and not here? And why does GW2Guru have a whole forum section devoted to GW Beyond, and GWGuru does not? Sure, it's so-called "linking content", but it's still GW1.

The quests scale their difficulty to player level. Even if the base quest XP is low, you're likely going to get to fight multiple monsters near your level. That alone is going to offer much more XP.

I had a look at Lindsey's HoM on two accounts (I think) and she has made massive progress on the grind titles on both accounts when the HoM first launched. I think her personal play style (from reading into something as vague as HoM) heavily favours grind. One of the founders called grind a very subjective thing, personally I think that's completely wrong, repeating the same thing over and over again for small advancements on a linear scale is grind, to call it anything else is denial. Guild Wars is full of it (and has been since the launch of Nightfall).
I personally love Stumme's removal of a lot of the grind in the game. It's still a lot of grind to get things it's just not the monotonous turn you into a serial killer its so boring, time consuming and repetitive any more that we had before he took over.
Count me in on the people who are annoyed GW2Guru is getting comments from Martin on a sub-forum when nothing is being said on the actual forum to the game. The Guild Wars:Beyond forum was supposed to discuss lore and gameplay links from GW:B and GW2; that's why they created it on GW2:Guru, it has a grey area of relating to some extent to GW2. The feature build in no significant way falls into that category (it's mostly UI and non-story related content - it doesn't advance the plot in any way) yet some people over there are using the forum as a surrogate for the already existing GW1 forum. It's stupid imo.

I think what he means is, the title wont be that impressive anymore, which I agree with. When I saw an LDoA i was like...wow that took some time...now its gonna be, ok they did the quests.
dancing gnome
Impressission is subjective anyway. LDoA is one of the most skilless and grind intense titles in the game. It's also completely nonsensical. At least now getting the title will involve actually playing the game instead of contributing to global warming by running your computer 24/7.
Elnino
All of the changes look very promising. Definately looks like Stumme is determined to improve this game.
Also, I can completely understand why Martin would post over on GW2Guru instead of here.

Not saying I don't want these quests, because I do. GW1 should get rid of the grind.

I'm not saying you're wrong and I'm happy he posted something, but I am a little disappointed in the CMs engagement with the GW1 community since Gaile Gray left and it's not helping seeing them post on GW2Guru about GW1. This is my personal view on it, I'm still grateful someone confirmed it.

Care to enlighten us? This is an update to GW1, people looking for information on GW1 come here, very few go to GW2Guru for obvious reasons. If you are communicating to the GW1 audience about GW1 my personal belief is it makes more sense to do it on the forum dedicated to GW1 not GW2.

Oh, and when Gaile was around the community was still in good shape, but I wouldn't point it at her for being in good shape. But mostly because when she left ANets focus quickly shifted to GW2

What he said.
There's just too much hate in this forum.
Quote:
My honest opinion is because the GW2guru community is a good community. While GW1guru is always bitching at Anet. Respect is a 2-way street. While it is the CMs job to inform the GW1guru community, I can see why they would want to avoid it. The CMs are relished on GW2guru. In real-life would you rather talk to people who think you're the best and respect you, or people who think you're a bore and you ruined their lives (aka, GW1 is 'dead' now. Crappy balancing. No updates ever. Updates take too long, the list goes on and on)?

It's a part of the job for a CM to deal with a community even in the later years of the game and it's a part of the MMO world for people to be unhappy about many aspect of the game they are playing, particularly in it's later years when content slows down or stops completely. The real important thing to note is that most of the people complaining care a great deal about the game, that makes them a good community. If everyone was half interested in upcoming updates but never really caring because they don't play the game any more, I'd call that a bad community.
