They're taking part in match manipulation, just enforcing current rules should solve this whole thing. I don't understand why Anet's not doing anything tbh, it's been reported multiple times, rules are obviously being broken. Open & shut case imo...

Problems with GvG have been going on LONG before this strongbox fiasco. I think all of the problems combined call for the complete and utter redesign of the format from the ground up.

There were many legit guilds who were < 900 rating before the reset.

Is that sarcasm or honesty? Smurfing. Tanking guild rank. Selling trim, and then I read on here that "Great GvG players" don't care about in game money or loot. Players in GvG are pretty rude(generally speaking) although I have met a few nice players over the years. Also, for the most part of the existence of GW, GvG has been the least inviting format to try and get into. Until lately, I haven't seen any vets(or ANet for that matter) reaching out to newer players trying to get a richer, more diverse GvG community rolling.
I didn't realize how poor overall the attitude of the GW community is until I started playing LOTRO and saw how willing to teach, train and help out that community is. Just one man's observations. Then again, what do I know, I am only a lowly G4 pre-update(I haven't logged in to GW in two months) but I will always love GW.

You know what happened next. They stopped caring as much, going as far as to provide people with an easy way to tank (forfeiting ATs) as a bandaid solution to a different problem.
Of course there's always going to be ways to game the system, but the burden is on the developers to keep it in check.
As for selling trimmed guilds and invites, that's a case of supply meeting demand. Guess where the demand is from.
To say that GvGers don't care about gold is, however, indeed an exaggeration. A more accurate way of expressing it would be that most GvGers don't care enough to go out of their way to make money, but if they can make money as a byproduct of GvG, they'll be all for it. Selling spots during double champ/fame weekend, selling invites, selling guilds, grinding ladder on zquest day, etc.
One final thought: We put a lot of effort over the past months to try to get people to GvG. Was it really worth it?
I honestly didn't know that LOTRO has PvP.

Tanking guilds to the <700 range was a problem before the update. People would farm the GvG quest (granted only a few days/month) with mult accts and guilds for around 200zkeys/hr. The boxes are icing on the cake (100/hr) and a daily possibility.
Make it so guild ratings cannot drop below 900 or 950.
