Guild Wars 1 tickets.

If your ticket is login related we’re moving GW2 team members over to work on those. If it’s an appeal and your account was compromised we’ll get you back in. If it’s gameplay related you won’t get a response immediately but it will eventually direct you to the Guild Wars wiki.

Going forward all GW accounts with linked GW2 accounts (or seeking a link) will be handled by the GW2 team in order to speed things up.

Again – we only support game access and exploit reporting for Guild Wars. All other issues are no longer supported (game hints, bugs, etc.).

I would really love to see PWE buy Anet as it has great support.

it started as "buying the game" and ends as a "buying the company called Anet"

i was talking about the game being bought by someone else, and i said Perfect World (PWE) would be better than moneyhungry freaks like blizzard and google

so.... were we talking about "buying GW" or "buying Anet" ??? i lost it

i know i quit the topic, but i'm confused

ArenaNet will not give out their successful and ONLY IP to any company that shoves out generic MMO's like an assembly line. I dont see any incentive for blizzard or google caring about the franchise anyways, google really isnt into the same market even.

And looking at ArenaNet in general, if you buy Guild Wars, you are buying ArenaNet essentially.

It not up to ArenaNet it is up to NCSoft if they have to sell off an asset. This is what Atari had to do with Cryptic as they were is deep financial trouble.

Hmm I guess that is more likely :P. If that happens then its hard to really know what would happen...

But that said NCSoft would most likely have to go bankrupt for them to sell off Guild Wars.

This is a problem again?

I haven't been active in years, and log on every once in a while. Can't remember when I logged on last but I believe it was still in 2015. Now I am afraid I got banned as well.

I'll tell you, if my account ended up banned like everyone elses, there isn't too much I could do this late in the game's life cycles other than to have a suspicion fulfilled. That suspicion would be that this company is corrupt. You see, I have never purchased gold, botted or broken ANY rule in the game for the very reason I wanted to keep my account around for years to come.

Furthermore, In recent years I've used cryptic passwords so strong that anyone with 10 planet earths covered in server farms churning away password combos for 1,000 years couldn't break it. Last I checked, gold farmers using hacked/botted clients don't work that hard to steal your account and use it for illicit purposes.

Pishing? Never you mind. I've used a Mac for EVERYTHING since 2006, my PC's have never gone onto the internet through a browser for anything other than to download a patch or driver from a link from valid sources like AMD, intel, etc. Strictly gaming machines, plain and simple. I actually feel bad for people who did lose their accounts who used only PC's and kept them bogged down with useless AV software.

So if I was banned, I'm tell you guys here there is something very serious to consider and worry about. I am very curious why there hasn't been a class action if these bans really are unjust? Come on, I remember the countless posts here, several a week am I right?

Can't help but feel bad for the people here who have been banned. I know it's just a game but after so many long years and memories, it's like you are having a piece of your life just ripped away and smashed and .... for what?

If/when I get around to it, I'll log on to see if my past 9 years was for nothing. I'll report back if anything is out of the ordinary.

...Oh and I also knew people personally back in 2009 that got banned, and had discussions with about in person. These are people I trusted and know well enough they aren't engaging in activities to get them banned. Why lie, when there is clearly nothing you can do about it? It's a game, you have no dignity in real life to lose by hacking a stupid game. Playing once a month without trading big ticket items one way or using bots, but getting a ban? That seems a bit crooked in my opinion.

EDIT: Successfully logged on my account without any bans. Going strong. Btw, today 9 years ago I bought my account.

You can try but that will likely not get very far, unless many pester at the same time. This fiasco deserves better explanation but, as one of those who got caught up in the 2010 debacle, it is plain to see ANet have not learnt one iota.

I went to GamesCon in 2012 to discuss the issues with the 2010 3,800 banwave (the party for GW2 was actually pretty good). In speaking with them, at that time the individual (who was high enough up the food chain) I spoke to was very considerate and admitted there was something "not right" with what had happened specifically to me. Naturally emails were sent to back up the conversation but nothing ever happened(not even a receipt confirmation!).

What galls me more than anything is my NCSOFT account still states my banned account to be playable.... it's only been 5 years after all

So I can certainly appreciate the pain peeps are going through here - hope you all get your accounts back with something a little less "automated".

Y'all all clinging to nostalgia....

This game ended years ago. I stopped playing seriously in 09/10, and it was fairly slow/dead then. Same group of traders passing around the same items. Same old farmers. Same people grinding for titles. Same people grinding PvP etc etc etc

GW is done, this forum is proof of that. I moderated this place back when it was buzzing....Ventaris/Riverside etc were alive. Nothing stayed on the front page for more then an hour or 3. Riverside was awash with threads. The build sub forums were active...solo monk, 55hp farmer, warrior builds for solo UW Ractoths spider farm for FoW, mods using their influence to cheat people (folks who registered after 2005 won't know about this) etc etc etc. Friendships were made, deals were brokered, people felt my vigorous ban hammer...happy days!

Time to move on though!

I dont think he read the whole thread...if he had he would have noticed this was a thread about a specific group of bans--a good portion of which have been reversed, many of which should have never been banned in the first place (the whole reason for the thread), and hence now a thread about what the heck happened, why and if it could happen again.

I play every evening, belong to a very active guild and alliance, and have two new characters I am shepherding through the campaigns. It's not nostalgia at all ... it's *current* fun. are you serious about that bolded part?
if you like to judge how the game is, go in GW and join 1 of the most active guilds and alliances, you'll see how "dead" it really is

time to move on? i think you'd make yourself more clear if you added "for me", as the game is still running and anet/ncsoft still get money from new accounts and ingame stuff from the (no longer ingame) store

Really nice to see an old folk like you still log on. I was unbanned and now still no ban. I still use my Logitech G105 Keyboard with predefined keys and macro (for /resign or /age). Use multi-launcher for swapping my goodies like usual.

To the matter of fact, I was banned and got unbanned but did not hear anything from Anet/NCsoft. To them, this is just like nothing happened. No letter, no apology and nothing really (except auto reply mail tho). And what i got is: banned for weeks. In conjunction to that, i missed the Cathan New Year quests. Lost some friends who decided to stop the games as the ban disrupted the regular fun play and community. One of the guild leader disappear complete who use to be very action.

What i wish is that the person who pressed the "execute/ban" button should be asked for correction action for his/her mistake. Wish all the happiness with the GW 1 players continues. Ban with validation or check is that a human.

Some may think this is a dead game.

To me and many this game is wonderful. It is still active as it is. I can still find friend/guildy/ally to have fun together daily.

Still see new bloods yesterday where 2 of them with lvl 6 toon were accidentally came to Embark Beach and stuck there. I helped them to move on.

PvE players are getting more active now.

Have fun all and wish no ban to disturb real players pls!

Thanks Cosy. Your posts are always balanced, and sensible, and pertinent. Thanks!! Meanwhile back on GW2 Forum ... I read both of Chris' announcements.

So Anet ... "will be taking a very active stance against RMT buyers from here on out." .... and ... " In the coming weeks and months we will be introducing more systems to help users protect themselves and help protect them automatically." ..... and ... "That relationship [between Gold Sellers and Gold Buyers] has become a somewhat reliable one and players who purchase from RMT are likely to continue that trend. By increasing our enforcement of this, we intend to break that relationship now and forever. Buying from RMT will no longer be anywhere near as safe as it was before, it’s time for gold buyers to say goodbye to their RMT friends."

I never once had a doubt in my mind that a lot of these bans (then and now) were false-positive as a result of overzealous algorithms.

People are quick to shoot that way of thinking down and relegate it to conspiracy theories but the hard truth is that there aren't enough people to police the game, so they have to do something to combat bots.

It was either here years ago or another forum where these people bought some junk accounts and just farmed over and over in a repetitive pattern (all human no automation) and ended up getting bans on them, just to confirm their fears.

Just a week or so ago I went and did a few of my classic Gates of Kryta undead farm runs. It is an easy run especially when you've been off the game forever and a little rusty, it's hard for the low level enemies to make a dent in you. Made nearly a plat per run. sometimes I'll do it to see if i can get any dyes. A lot of the junk can be sold for a decent price and it's also a great easy run to do when they have events where enemies will drop alcohol or cupcakes or whatever. It's such an easy repetitive run and good for people who don't mind only making such a small amount like 800g to a plat per run.

I'm surprised I haven't even run into any trouble with the regi... i mean ArenaNet. What with playing and enjoying the game well within it's limits is a crime.

He's already made gold vanish from peoples acc's that bought from gold sellers. He's stated it on his twitter. idc what he does in gw2 really cause i'd rather him fix the rest of his mess here in gw.

I've been looking around & the amount of botters is quite extensive. they don't seem to care guess that's what a business attitude is like lol.

1. what about the people who are innocently banned?
2. what about the bad bugs/flaws pve has??
3. bots in pvp??? (i hope he'd get the question with just 3 words.... kind of)
4. what about the safety of those who are farming WITHOUT bots????
5. what about those who would for example give ecto's and/or armbraces to someone else without even KNOWING how of where to goldsell/goldbuy?????
6. can you make automated banning programs so that people who coincidentally walk like bots (mouse leftclick walking) will NOT be banned??????

question from me toward anyone here: the heck is RMT?

i never wanted to let anyone else do stuff for me (unless i simply cant do it, and only in team as help, not bots or whatever) and buying gold is kinda like bots.... they do the work for you, so you'll quit GW in no time, while the game is so big if you know how to make goals
as someone who bought all char slots and merc hero slots i can, and several costumes, i can say GW still has alot to offer if you make builds with themes on certain chars

GW has many skills, so its easy to try and try.... in pvp they should do that, instead of using pvx or community made builds and only use those
do something teams wont expect (opposite teams that is)

anyway, i wanted to say i mostly play the game by myself, as noone else i know plays the way i do, but i have full teams of heroes (i dont do urgoz/deep and other elite areas)
and i try ALL skills if they are good, so i can see if it works with certain other skills or not

and because of this, i have no idea what bots can, cant or even do
and buying gold? 1. i dont have much money for that. 2. NO, i rather do something in GW like selling stuff i dont need and get money that way than getting ecto's just by buying.... oh and 3. its a huge risk buying from sites you cant sue or trust
try explaining to the judge: i bought money illegally, and the one selling it, scammed me!

anyway, i hope that guy wont screw up what the old anet, which no longer exists, has created and made and achieved, and what we still enjoy almost 10 years after its release (i never quit for longer than 3 weeks...... i know....)

***mod edit---RMT is Real Money Trade(r), or those who sell for real money---mod edit***

Its as simple as this guys geez.

If Anets ban script recognizes numbers in their clients which shouldnt be there or dont allign with their own (i.e numbers changed or put in via botting / pathing in an exact certain way like JQ bots, IDS bots or ToPK bots had) it clearly shows up and so it will pick your client out ready to get banned.

Not too mention they probably also save your trade and chat logs, so when you suddenly get 1000 armbraces without any item being traded, or without anything being said in the chat it becomes suspecious pretty damn quick.

If I understand right, it would be more risky to move ectos or armbraces between two of my accounts than to buy armbraces to a gold seller and to say hello / how many armbaces / where do we meet / thx.

What Anet doesn't understand it's that they can't stop gold seller for the simple reason nowdays they are players like you and me and not chinese men paid for this on a dedicated website, like one we can often see in spamadan (gw2sa....)

No, because using two accounts at the same time usually comes down they are being run on the same machine or even two diffrent machines using the same IP. (Personal use only)

I ment such transactions from two diffrent IP's, as those things go via their server and gets stored there.
(For instance you and the gold seller)

I've actually heard bans stemming from events when GW was more active and there would be giveaways of large questionable items. Like on a forum if someone won something and was given a stack of ectos/ some gold or a ton of black dye something like that. They ended both getting banned and screwed over. Then that kinda put in perspective how automated arenanet became in banning 3rd party RMT.

Shoot first (destroy a loyal customer's account) and ask questions later (more like never, and then shove a EULA in their face).

It's ludicrous there's still enough soap for the opera simply because some of the customer accounts turned unavailable for a short period of 1 month. I know of the actual stories where it took more than 3 months for players to resolve this kind of situations appropriately with ArenaNet, should it mean that for every such, a new thread with another combustible drama must appear?

There's no need to say no one is obliged to provide public excuses also, since such could be considered as a sign of weakness. It's strange that these rather easy-to-comprehend things are still not-so-obvious to some of the posters.

MOST companies that do erroneously 'things' give a public apology if they want to continue to do business.
One month? there are still folks from january waiting for a response--that is ludicrous!
A new thread? no this is the old one that was started back in jaunary when they decided to let the idiot use his bot program to 'catch' people playing the game fairly.

What is ludicrous is that he still has a job!

Like I told you before, I see nothing wrong with applying disciplinary actions to those who were entering the PvP areas by the means of alt accounts, even if it was for the purpose of unveiling certain pieces of the map, as it happened with you and your friends. It's just not the way one should try to overcome such imperfections of the game's design with.

If you want any of those addressed, you should voice it at the feedback section of Guild Wars Wiki, instead of inventing suspicious ways of entering desolated areas in the manner the Support Team would probably qualify as a breach of RoC (see Article 24).

As to the exploiters of the maxed level of Gladiator title, JQ botters and other cheaters gone, all I can say is that they aren't missed, especially those who have done it all in public and encouraged the others to do the same.

except that there used to be full groups of folks who routinely did MAPPING of jade quarry and fort aspenwood....which are high level areas. Not suspicious whatsoever. (I can show you the threads about it from here as well).
Not to mention my main account (which I did the ticket on) was NOT involved and and account that was involved was not originally banned--so they have some strange ways of detecting things (and I know of others who say they DID break the rules and were NOT banned at all--and others who rarely even played that were--so explain that one to Mike when you talk with him next).

Any updates from anyone? Still waiting for a reply from Anet, sent a new ticket again. Call me crazy, but I will not give up until my account and the one from my girlfriend are unbanned. I'm happy for them but it still bothers me to hear from people I know that their accounts are all unbanned. And then 2 accounts, not involved with any pvp bot or whatsoever still banned.
