Anyone else just got a perma ban?
cosyfiep
Ok, that was all I saw too (never used twiter so no idea what I should have been seeing).
I do know that I was playing just a while ago just fine....logged off to watch some tv and then logged back in to look if my birthday minis had shown up---and well 4 of my accounts are now banned for botting--since I have never done pvp (aside from the carto--and with one of the accounts that is NOT banned) and rarely jq and barely play for more than 1 hour at a time, not quite sure what botting I would have even done? Unless playing on 2 computers with 2 accounts is now against EULA (I was running my account thru the vanquish of tannaki temple with only one having the emperor quest ...)...not sure if running is now a violation of EULA as well.
or if they are just trying to get rid of everyone playing so that they can close the servers down.....

What an idiot. How about being your own gate monkey in pre? Storage? Main two reasons I run two accounts. I like being able to turn in Nick on both accounts, my second account holds a guild I use to dump alternate faction to my main. Has he even played GW1? There are PLENTY of legit reasons to use multilaunch in GW1 other than botting, hence why it was bloody developed. Might as well ask why people have multiple accounts instead of buying extra character slots (and I know the answers to that one, don't worry).

I dont use multilaunch. I use more than one computer to play...I have 4 now that I can play on--and have used 3 of them in the last week to do so. AND I am actively sitting in front of two of them right now (and can play on both--one not so good since its only xp sp1)....still doesnt explain why of my 6 accounts 4 were banned (all of which I access from my main computer) and 2 are not (they dont have eye of the north--one is factions only).

I really dont get it either....I know that one of the accounts that I still can play on did the carto (discussed earlier), but my main did none of that ever--only texmod (no low level characters to get to those arenas on my main). So I am completely beside myself as to what the &%@* is going on besides them wanting to ban everyone so they can shut down the servers....
Nekodesu
My accounts are fine, I've used MultiLaunch, GWDressUp, TEXMOD & GWCamUnlocker. On all my accounts, for years. So have everyone I know, and they haven't been banned either.
If you go into PvP with multiple accounts it's gonna tag your account.

cosyfiep, if you're actually seeking a solution for this problem of yours, I'd recommend contacting Guild Wars Support and then settling it down with them privately, as whatever is the exact case, they'll look into it.

cosyfiep
I have never done pvp ! My main account doesnt even have a pvp character. A few weeks ago a few of us did low level arenas carto --but my main account did NOT participate and one of my non-banned accounts DID--more than one arena too. (I have no now level characters on my main account).
I have multiple computers I play on, so you are saying that I can not play with say, my husband (who happens to live in my home and has his own account)? Or that I can not play with my other accounts on different computers IF I am sitting in front of them (which I am)....
(and yes, I have a ticket in with support--but seeing as NONE of the gw people are getting answers I dont see them as ever getting back to me about this)

I'm not saying anything besides what I said, though what you described could possibly qualify as a breach of RoC (the 24th article of it), and again, it's only the Guild Wars Support Team who could judge its severity or adjust the period of the blocks.
cosyfiep
If that was the case then only 3 of my accounts participated in that breach--and one of those is NOT banned, and one of my accounts that did not IS.

No, sorry. I can't even log into my account LOL
This could very well be true.
I'm not entirely sure this is true. Read Rule #3 in the User Agreement. http://legal.guildwars.com/en/gw-user-agreement-en.pdf
Arenanet has only these retailers listed as authorized, and I wouldn't advise purchasing from anywhere else: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/retail...tates-physical
Ok here is Arenanet's official stance on third-party programs and Multip-boxing in general.
https://forum-en.guildwars2.com/foru...-Boxing-Macros
"Our general policy is that anything that gives advantage is forbidden"
Opening the gate for yourself in pre-searing is an advantage. Running one of your characters accounts through a mission with another one of your accounts is an advantage. Using Texmod is an advantage. Using GW dressup is an advantage.
In fact, multi-boxing in-and-of itself provides a distinct advantage over someone who can not or does not multibox.
It really depends on what they define as "advantage." If they start saying these things aren't advantageous they start heading down a slippery slope.
Emily Diehl, Arenanet's Community and Content Manager, has been quoted as saying "We checked and have been told that the following mods are ok: KSmod, GWstats, Texmod, and Multilaunch." However this was nearly 5 years ago and who knows now.
I don't have a Twitter account so someone please respond to this nerd for me. Some people use Virtual Machines to download things to protect their pc from viruses. A simple internet search on the use of Virtual Machines will bring up various articles:
"Whichever VM you select, the VM cannot cross the software boundaries set in place. For example, a virus might infect a computer when executed and spread to other files in the OS. However, a virus executed in a VM will spread through the VM but not affect the underlying actual OS."
"YOU will be safe, the virtual machine deletes everything when you shut it down. it doesn't save anything. This virtual machine move is to create sandbox safety - whatever you do in the sandbox stays in the sandbox - your main system is insulated from what goes on in the sandbox. Thats what drives this application - security. "

I'm curious but did you do carto with Bristlebane in either JQ or FA?
|
no, I have barely even been in either of them--I did a few runs on my paragon a few months ago to get rid of the zaishen thing (MANY years ago we used to organize jq and fa carto, but that was before imperial faction even). And I got the quest reward for getting one of my characters there --but didnt enter battle. The carto we did was in ascalon arena, shiverpeak arena, shingjea arena and the one off of kamadan--and as I mentioned one of the accounts that I used for that was NOT banned while my main (which cant access those areas because no low level characters--and has only done wintersday snowball fights) was and it didnt help out.
Been trying to figure out what else those accounts have in common that the other does not--they all have eye--and I know I did the mpb quest on 3 of them during wintersday, but not the 4th (did it for the ccshards)..but I didnt use a bot, I sat there and watched the grentches and snowmen kill each other off each time.
and arent bots only used for pvp? (since I have never done pvp I am not sure)....wouldnt they be able to check that I have never done pvp on those accounts? (not that they are going to, but still)

Any of the carto you did with him, was he using multiple accounts at the time to make sure you had enough people to enter? It seems to me that anything pvp related is tying groups together even if the majority of people were only along for the ride so to speak. It genuinely sucks because we all know that these areas are impossible to map without enough players, and Anet has made no effort to allow pve players to explore the arenas. Would've been simple enough to have an arena guard let you go in explore on your own.
|
my main account did NOT carto with him---last time I did the fa/jq carto was 08? (well before they re-vitalized it...I can find the threads in explorers to see the exact date).
of the 3 accounts I used to map with him 2 are perma'd one is NOT. of the 4 accounts that got perma'd ONE I never did carto with him (we were trying to do the HM titan quests)
Yes we had him using 4 accounts, me 2 and the other person we were helping had 2 as well. As I didnt have low level characters in all those areas I had to change accounts to get factions--that account is NOT banned.(as well as nightfall).

Lawsuits are definitely being filed. A few of my friends are putting together a nice class action suit which you all will hear about shortly. This isn't the way to run a business in America, not sure how other governments will react. Banning over 1000 members without even so much as a press release is the height of stupidity IMHO. If someone breaks a rule, proof needs to be presented and a formal e-mail. Chargebacks should also be coming their way.
cosyfiep
good luck with that (really).
I do know that when I was working I had to sign an agreement saying they could terminate my employment at ANY time for NO reason...I havent read the EULA in a while, but I wouldnt be surprised if there isnt a clause in there of the same idea. Not to mention they can stretch the rule that AC quoted to mean just about anything you do in game can be construed as a violation.

Is this a joke? Cause it's the best one I've heard in a long time. Lol. It made me crack up.
Anet has the right to ban anyone they want for any reason. It's one of those things you have to agree to when you play the game. The government is gonna laugh all over this. Guild wars is a video game in a virtual world.
Why would they make a press release for a 9 year old game? No press agency would cover it. They have much newer games that they want the attention for.
Again, if this is not a joke, someone needs to get outside and smell the roses ^ you're on a guru account created in 2k15, likely to troll?
Motoko
Honestly any type of lawsuit isn't a terrible idea. You may think it is a "troll attempt" or a "joke" but look at the logic of the move:
ArenaNet clearly has no interest in putting resources in to GW1. That is clearly shown by the lack of support responses the community has seen.
Filing a lawsuit would cost ArenaNet money to handle. This is a guess, but I would think that it would be money they have zero interest on wasting on GW1. It seems like it would be easier and cheaper just to undo the ban work than actually deal with a lawsuit. (I personally don't know how the lawsuits would work - if you would have to file in Washington state or your residence state)
And as far as those spending the money, time, and effort on the lawsuit? Why fault them? They obviously are passionate about this game and the time/efforts they have spent before this point.
The type of people that will go great lengths to get the job done, no matter the cost, no matter how great a challenge - Those are the people I like. The ones mocking and quitting and emo-ing it up? Those types are easily forgotten.

Same Phat yes,
Others have been working with the exec. for a while too (hence hacks etc)
With the glad / champ / codex limits, such hacking would prove to be quite inefficient (while still advantageous of course)
The only title left to be nerfed is gamer (Which has been hacked and possibly will be during this CNY)
The packet that's being referred to was added to the game during the HA nerf (during which many thought that the game became 'botproof') - it's just a matter of the packet that caused this to be believed
Banwise, I've used MultiLaunch, Dressup, Vanquisher, CamUnlocker, Texmod. . .not banned. . . yet
Cheers lmao
